Hi everyone - My name appears as T4bsF which is short for Time for bed said Florence (quote from an old TV children's programme called Magic Roundabout) but please just call me Flo for ease of use.I live in Cardiff in South Wales and retired last year after 38 yrs as a District Nurse. I just recently welcomed my first great-granddaughter into this world (Tuesday 6th Aug.) so will probably soon have lots of babysitting duties to fulfil. I love reading but I'm not a fast reader.

Thank you Elizabeth. I can see most on this thread use their own names, but as I use the TfbsF for my other threads I don't really want to keep changing it to come on here. My real name is Pat if anyone would prefer - I don't really mind what I'm called!!
He said it too but then they would say "Time for Bed" said Florence, Dylan and Brian (or anyone else who was in that episode)

HiI'm new to this site and this group. I'm Ali from Scotland and I've always loved reading fiction. I'll give any genre a go if the writing is good enough but I especially love classics, Pratchett and alternative universe stuff. As I get older I'm getting into more non-fiction too.
Surprisingly I have very few fellow readers in my life at the moment (thorugh I am introducing my two wee boys to reading and books which is a joy), so hoping to find some virtual book nerd pals :D
Welcome Ali - nice to not be the "Newbie" anymore. I only joined a short while ago. Think you'll enjoy it - I do!

Greetings all! My name is Sally, I'm 35 years old, I live in South Australia and I am a lifelong bookworm. I am very much into the classics, literary fiction and contemporary fiction, plus some fantasy and historical fiction for colour. I was very happy to find this group, and look forward to chatting to you all. Please feel free to view my profile and send me a friend request or PM if you like what you see.

In case anyone is wondering what poem Sandy referred to, it's called 'The Invitation' by Oriah Mountain Dreamer and can be seen here http://www.oriahmountaindreamer.com/. I found this years ago and was thrilled, because it expresses everything I value in people.
Hi, my name is Cat and I live in London with my partner, who doesn't read much at all...despite my trying to encourage him!! So I have been looking for a book club for a while. I particularly like history (either fiction or non-fiction)and mystery/crime fiction...but really, practically anything!

Hi all, I am Jenny, and very possibly the slowest and therefore last refugee of Perks to arrive to this group ;)I am from Germany but I am a bit of a constant traveler as well as a constant reader. I read mostly fiction but also poetry and non-fiction and I am afraid joining this group will add even more books to that ever-growing TBR-list, but well....I couldn't help it. Looking forward to reading my way through your threads! :)
I can't remember if I said hello on this or not! (if you notice I did, tell me and I'll delete).I'm a reader from the UK (from Merseyside, then London, Bath, now Hertfordshire), and I read most stuff, from popular science non-fiction through to fantasy and science fiction, to contemporary/literary fiction.
I've made a point of devoting more time to reading in the last year or so, though my three-year-old has other ideas :)
I've already read some great books thanks to this group, and look forward to finding more.
Hello all, thought I'd just introduce myself as the latest BV newbie. I've been a bit of an obsessive reader since I was a child,. when i was quite little my Mum used to work as a library assistant, which I thought was the best job in the world, my favourite thing in the world was to go 'collect' her from work & often have the whole children's section to myself while they finished up working - bliss! I drove one of my primary school teachers demented by always having read the prescribed reading ahead of time - she even tested me on the story lines sometimes as she didn't believe how much I read! (I always passed!). So I think you could safely say I'm a bit of a bookworm! I've had spells of reading less at times when life takes over, but a book is never far from me. I'm lacking in my experience of the classics, so I've started trying to read at least one a month this year. I like a nice wide variety of books & won't exclude any genre, although I'm not really a fan of the 'bodice-ripper' style that seems to have exploded & taken over the world recently! I'm no prude, it's the lack of quality in the writing that appals me! There's nothing much worse when you can predict the plot & outcome of a story almost from the start is there! I have no one favourite genre, although my guilty pleasure would be a good thriller/mystery. Looking forward to chatting with you all!
