Ooh super cool!

Denise (eendenise) I'm actually considering to re-read the series because I loved it... I read all the books within two weeks and that's some sort of record because I wasn't on vacation and one of the weeks I had school..

Anyway I never re-read books because it takes so much time (except for the two Alice-books cos I love Alice in Wonderland; all time favorite.)

The movie was better then I expected but I had to explain a lot to my friends during the movie... A lot was explained after it had happened(?), besides the only other person who read the book was spoiling all the time and talking through the whole movie (so annoying). Still like the book more, like it is meant to be.

I am more team Peeta, but I'm not so much a team-person, In the beginning I was more team Gale...

i am also actually thinking about reading those books again.

Denise (eendenise) But if I'm going to re-read them I'm going to re-read them in English and then I also want to buy them in English... Then I will have them in Dutch and English haha...

Same with the Harry Potter books by the way, if I'm going to re-read something it will be AiW, THG or HP but THG and HP in English and AiW in Dutch... Haha I only read my favorite book ever in English - I'm weird...

Layton (thunderinourhearts) I loved the first two books so much. I was kind of disappointed with the third though. I really should reread them again.

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

dutch and English...Hmmm

i got the box set of the trilogy, a year ago.

Denise (eendenise) I did the stupidest thing by reading the backflip of the third book while reading the second one... The whole surprise was gone...

Wise lesson; never read backflips if its not the first book of a series..

Denise (eendenise) @ginny; yeah... I have the bad habit to read most books translated in Dutch... Got the trilogy for Christmas a couple of years ago.. Or from "Sinterklaas"...

message 60: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 08, 2013 04:37PM) (new)

before i read it and i really wanted to know.

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

Mary M (bookobsessed-akabooksmistress) | 17 comments Oh, wow, it feels like forever since I read this series, 8 years ago. Its kinda funny cause this was one of the series that mad me fall in love with books. I can't wait till catching fire comes out, in theaters.
I wonder who their gonna cast to fill all the new characters. This was the saddest book of all three, but a close tie with Mockingjay's ending. OMG, i wonder how there gonna design Mockingjay, man was that book twisted.

I wish Harry potter wasn't finished, why did she have to stop at deathly hollows, why not write another... infiniety more, but seriously, I've read series way longer than that, too short for that incrediable a serie...Harry

Question, how in worlds do they afford a dress like that?

M.J. Webb (mjwebb) Just started the Hunger Games as it has been rec'd to me. First book I've ever read which is written in the first person but enjoying it so far. Haven't seen the film but they are rarely as good as the books.

Meaghan | 383 comments David wrote: "THG got me started reading dystopian! Awesome book. Anyone else a fan?"

Yes, this book started this dystopia spiral I seem to be on and can't stop. I couldn't find anything I really loved for the longest time after THG (I wasn't really reading dystopia books at the time) and thought it was a fluke I loved a dystopia novel so much. And then I picked up another dystopia novel one day just to see and now I can't stop!

Heidi | 2372 comments Loved THG and then really loved Chaos Walking but since that time I am finding it hard to find other dystopian to fall in love with (besides David's Dwellers series which I am enjoying a lot :)

Denise (eendenise) By the way, does any of you know when Catching Fire hits the movie theaters?

Meaghan | 383 comments I think it's supposed to hit theaters November 22 or something around then. I remember late November. Still a while to go!

Denise (eendenise) Hmm yeah, long time... Haha don't think my last hunger game movie buddies will join me xD

M.J. Webb (mjwebb) http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

My 5 star review. Loved it and thankful to Goodreads members for the recommendation. Are the sequels as good ?

Heidi | 2372 comments MJ I liked book two just as much as book one but some other GR friends thought it was too similar to book one. Book three is very different and depressing.

message 73: by M.J. (new) - rated it 5 stars

M.J. Webb (mjwebb) Thanx Heidi. It's rare that a sequel lives up to the original, don't you think ?

I'll give book two a go but take a break first.

Heidi | 2372 comments That is a good plan MJ because I read the second one a year later and I think that is why I liked it more.

DeAnna (dee84812) | 671 comments MJ, I think I liked the second one better than the first. The last book is very different and much slower paced, but I thought it was a good end to the series.

Heidi | 2372 comments It was a fitting end DeAnna - I agree :)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I just saw the preview trailer for Catching Fire. Whoa. Comes out November.

Denise (eendenise) I want to see it now omg and I think I need to reread it before I go to the cinema cos I'm confused about which book is which haha only sure about the first... But I remember how everyone who didn't read the books had to ask a hundred times why something was happening.. Don't want to do that lol xD

LOVE THE TEASER TRAILER FOR CATCHING FIRE!!!!

Now that we got that out of the way....I LOVED HG series! I read all 3 books back to back very quickly when Mockingjay was released. These are the books that got me reading so much dystopia! There will be spoilers, so stop reading if you haven't read the trilogy!

I am Team Peeta, but I also liked Gale. I think Peeta is better for Katniss--she needs a truly good, happy person to balance her out. She and Gale are almost too much alike, which makes them great friends, but not a great couple.

Catching Fire is my favorite of the three. I love how everything is coming to a head...you can tell its getting close to revolution time, but there is a lot of planning and secrecy still going on...and the clock thing in the games is just cool! I also think this is the one where I fell in love with Peeta.

I didn't love Mockingjay as much as the first two, but I did still like it, and I actually liked the ending! The thing that drove me crazy with Mockingjay was that it managed to destroy the two truly good, innocent souls in it--Peeta and Prim. I just couldn't believe what happened with Peeta! The actual ending where Katniss realizes that its not just Snow that's corrupt, but also the leader of District 13 made a really great point about revolutions and government. A lot of times, when you have a corrupt dictatorship, all people want is change. They don't stop and think of who is actually taking over said government, and a lot of times other corrupt people end up taking over. It happens all the time, and I think this was the point Collins was trying to make.

Great, great series, my favorite series next to Harry Potter!

Meaghan | 383 comments I agree with everything you said Jenny!

Meaghan | 383 comments I just watched the trailer for catching fire. It looks amazing!

Doesn't it??? I'm so excited for this one, I will preorder a ticket for a midnight showing to this one! Probably have to take the three older kiddos as well!

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

the hunger games also got me into dystopian too. and I've seen the trailer for catching fire so many times

chucklesthescot SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!!!

Loved the whole series. I liked how each book had the version of a deadly gamezone but in different formats, each book was a bit different, great characters and the realism that power corrupts. Brilliant! Really enjoyed the film as well. The casting of Peeta and Katniss was excellent.

Favourite thing? The fact that the three winners for District 12 ended up living away from everyone else as they were the only ones who could really understand each others pain and trauma.

A H Love the Hunger Games trilogy!! The books have a charm and excitement of their own. Eagerly waiting for the second movie!!

DeAnna (dee84812) | 671 comments I hate movies. I get really excited by the mystery and slow reveals of books, and they always give it all away in the movie posters or trailers. I remember my shock when I read about the Quarter Quell in Catching Fire, so I hate that they are already giving it away.

With that said, however, I can't wait for this movie!

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

agreed, that is so true. trailers spoil the most of all

Misty (mistypat9904) Same here I never was one to read then I read THG and found that I can't quit reading..... So I best series ever....

Sherry | 76 comments This is the series that got me hooked on reading again and my introduction to dytopian (and now I'm obsessed with the genre!) I saw the movie first, which I had no interest in seeing but it was the movie others picked to watch. Thought the movie was good, but didn't intend on reading the book. I ended up reading it just for the heck of it, and was immediately hooked. I read the whole series twice in a week and a half. I felt so 'lost' after finishing and couldn't stop thinking about Katniss and Peeta, so I said screw it and just read it all again. And I loved it even more the second time.

I think the trailer for Catching Fire looks amazing. I'm hoping this director does a bit better than the first director. After reading the book I was so disapointed with how the cave scene was done in the movie.

message 98: by [deleted user] (new)

here are the release dates for the rest of the movies

Catching fire---November 22 2013

Mockingjay part 1--November 21st 2014

Mockingjay part 2--November 20th 2015

Janeal Falor The new trailer really did rock, even if they gave too much away for those who haven't read it. So excited! But Mockingjay Part 2 - end of 2015 *cries*
