Thanks guys, Kathy that's a good suggestion, I'm also going to have a look for some of the upcoming ones and see if I cant pick them up.

Thanks, I'm up to 47 now, really enjoying that its encouraging me to keep reading.

That's great Ellen Rory! :)

Thank you! I love using goodreads to see what classics people are reading to help me decide what to look for next. I've just cleared 50 on the shelf list.

2 group reads (Siddhartha and Watership Down)
4 "shelf-mining" (Emma, War Of The Worlds, Journey To The Centre Of The Earth and Hound Of The Baskervilles)
32 total

I have all of you to thank for it! You guys are just so encouraging! I've read things with this group that I never thought in a million years I would even remotely crack open. So thanks to all of you!!! :)

That is really great Loretta!!! You've done a terrific job, congratulations!!!!!!!! ;-)

Thank you Bat-Cat and Kathleen! :)

Ciera, that's a fantastic number! Best of luck on your bingo too!! :)

Hardly Susan! 31 is a great number too!! :)

Brina, What are some of your favorites?

Without a doubt! :)

Well if Life on the Mississippi doesn't make it next time, I'll do a buddy read with you
I've read 30, but I'll be at 31 by the end of the night. I recently received a $50 Amazon gift card and I spent every cent on classic novels. It just so happens that all of the novels I purchased are on the group bookshelf. :)

That's fabulous Wendy! A $50 gift card well spent! Enjoy all your new classic novels!! :)

I ordered from the library The Travels of Jamie McPheeters.
And baseball related books- The Natural, Shoeless Joe, etc.
I love reading about other cultures when I'm reading so that is my taste in classics as well.

No, I have not read The Art of Fielding although it has been recommended to me. When I say baseball, I read a lot of player biographies and history of the game because I get withdrawal symptoms if I don't watch baseball for over 24 hours. Reading about it is the next best thing. Currently I have a historical mystery The Tomb that Ruth Built by Troy Soos.

Well done, Ciera! I like the way you think - "at least" ;)
I've checked the group list and I've read 26 so far ... it's interesting adding to my list of "read" and voting on which classics I liked best, because earlier on you've read only a few so the favourite stands well apart from the rest, then you read more and you get more favourites. But I'll stay true to you, Count of Monte Cristo

Thank you Nargus for your kind words! :)

I'm with you both on reading about other cultures and baseball. I've wanted to read an Isabel Allende book ever since I read her memoir My Invented Country: A Nostalgic Journey Through Chili . I'm not a fan of her far left politics, which permeate, as I'm a centrist, but her writing describing the physical landscape of Chili and it's people and cultures was superb. Her writing was so good that someday I have to read her fiction and someday I must visit Chile. I almost feel like I've been there after reading her book.

22 is more than I'd read when I first joined this group. It means you have lots of great classics still to discover!
