Rachel Stimson (naturalladyuk) | 27 comments Now this is a challenge I'm up for as there are many on the list which I have been wanting to read. So as at the end of October 2018 my stats were:

Oct 2018 24.9% (59/237)

message 852: by Jehona (new)

Jehona | 129 comments May 1st, 2018, 45 out of 217, so 20.7%
Nov 1st, 2018, 70 out of 237, so 29.5%

message 853: by Patty (new)

Patty I didn’t go by any dates; I went through the 238 titles. I’ve read 41 of those titles which is around 17%.

It sounded like a lot until I did the math.

BAM doesn’t answer to her real name Well my bookshelf ratings got a little messed up, but it looks like I only have 9 books remaining on the shelf to read. I’ve not been as hyperfocused lately on it or I think I would have finished it. As it is it may be February since I’m trying to keep up with the new monthly selections too.

It is a lot Patty! I started out at only 19 or something. Look how much Jehona above you increased her % in just 5 months. Congrats Jehona!

Sue K H (sky_bluez) | 3694 comments Congratulations also to J-Blue, Rachel, Helen, BAM , Darren and Michael. Great progress!

I decided that I'm only updating every quarter now that I'm well over 100 and it's so cumbersome to count. It's also a pain to add over 130 books to a list. I wish I would have started doing that earlier like some of you have.

Don't forget to VOTE for your new books all!

message 864: by Darren (new)

Darren (dazburns) | 2148 comments as I think I've mentioned before
it is the work of a few seconds to make a complete list
open the group bookshelf
display all books at once by extending the url with "&per_page=240" (or however many as the total grows in future) like so:
https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...
copy and paste into a spreadsheet.

message 867: by Terris (new)

Terris | 4385 comments I'm at 210/240, 87.5%. I have a few immediate ones on the list that I'd like to finish. But a few that I don't know if I'll ever read. But I'd sure like to be at 100%!! ;)

I have a shelf called "catching-up-read‎". It is a work of less than seconds to see the number next to the title on my profile page.

I'm not sure I can ever get above the 70% mark, because I seem to read at about the same pace that others are added. It is interesting to keep trying though.

message 874: by Richp (new)

Richp | 27 comments 120/138 of the list I saw. Not too bad since classics are usually worth reading, but not especially my thing. Encyclopedia of Bridges and Tunnels stands out for last month, even if it was not my type of engineering, or my book of the month.

Have fun reading whatever you like. Read a lot and vary it a bit or more, and you probably learn a lot.

A a lot to discover is a real good attitude of looking at it. Go for it; fast or slow.

Yes, the perfect attitude, Stefania. I sometimes feel envious of people who are reading my favorites for the first time. Nothing beats the first time you read a book that blows you away.

Impressed too! How do you read so fast and so much? Can you remember a book, say, a year after reading it?

That means that you - probably as the only person in the group - as the total overview of all group books and can compare them all.

What are your top 5 favourites on the group shelf?

BAM doesn’t answer to her real name Hmmm top 5....I’ll have to look at my rankings. Gone with the wind is definitely one, Les Mis, LOTR,
I have a much easier time picking out what I did not like

As I Lay Dying is a little too literal in your case 😉

BAM doesn’t answer to her real name Haha Laurie too indeed

BAM doesn’t answer to her real name Oh and thank you so much Renee! I actually had quite a jump on the shelf by the time I joined the group, and I often have already read half of the options voted on each month, so I don’t have a lot of reading to do. I adore classic literature.

Mine too! My sister bought it for me for my birthday a couple years ago, and I can't believe I still haven't read it yet! I'm looking forward to it though, because it's always nice to try a new (to me) author.

message 899: by GW (last edited Dec 25, 2018 06:27AM) (new)

GW | 167 comments I think all great novels have to be viewed by what is good and bad. I hope to think I see the good in a book that others before me have added merit to it. But their is one book, there is always one book that I struggled to finish and was left with a wtf is the reason. For me the book I loved to hate was "If on a Winter's Night a Traveler. But then again I don't know anything about Post Modern authors. I hope to improve my understanding of the movement and then try others. I'm stuck in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. When I finish Ulysses I will probably think it is great, but now at 58 % I'm wondering how could I have spent my time reading better this last year.
