What if Lily had chosen Snape?

Weiting I mean, without Lily choosing James (Harry's dad) then there would be no Harry Potter, no story.
But what if, Lily had chosen Severus, and they had a son. What would his name be?
Would he be bullied? Treated fairly?
Who would James have married?
Can someone answer this for me?

Diogo Get over it.

Diogo It would be the way the writer choose it to be.

Khandoba Salunkhe Remember the prophecy..?? If Lily had chosen Severus, she wouldn't have defied and escaped Lord Voldemort(thrice), then Voldemort would have been left with one choice... Neville Longbottom, the child of parents who have defied Lord Voldemort thrice and who was born on closing day of July, and have the powers which Voldy had not...
But personally I don't think Rowling wouldn't have written have a novel named Neville Longbottom..

Angie that's a lot of changes. in order for lily to choose severus, he would've had to be in ravenclaw and not so slytherin-y. then maybe they could've got together, had a son. his name would be beauregard snape and he'd have a sister, eileen snape. but being only a quarter blood, voldemort would've chosen neville. that's assuming trelawney still made the prophecy. i don't think she would've since i believe the prophecy was specifically about harry. without james and lily, there is no possibility of harry, so no prophecy. voldemort would rule the world forever. all because lily and snape got together.

Hannah I just can't see Lily choosing Snape unless a LOT of things were different- If Snape wasn't hanging out with bad people, wanting to be Death Eaters openly, became a nicer person overall (and less bitter) and especially, didn't call her mudblood publicly. Also, if James didn't grow up and just continued to be a jerk. Then, maybe she'd choose Snape instead.

And if that happened, there would be no Harry. There might be no boy at all, or there might be no kids even (who knows, Snape might turn out to be sterile)...

But say they had a boy. His birthday might not be the same as Harry and Neville's. The prophecy might single Neville out (poor kid). His parents were dead by that time right? He was raised by his grandmother. So that means... His grandmother's love would be his magical protection. Pity the grandmother, though. Imagine an old woman having to face the Dark Lord alone.

Ok so if that happened, Lily and Snape's son won't have any much story. We'd be focusing on Neville-the-boy-who-lived instead.

Neville's parents never died, they just got tortured so much by Voldy that they were driven into insanity. They currently reside in St. Mungo's hospital. J.K Rowling never mentioned if they got better, so it's assumed they never recovered.

Erin Actually I believe that after Voldemort attacked Harry and went into hiding some of his supporters, Barty Crouch Jr. or whatever his name is, and the Lestrange's went and tortured Neville's parents because they believed they knew where Voldemort was hiding. So they would still be sane at that point and would be there if Voldypants were to have gone after Neville.

haha habit :)

Jeffrey Hicks I Lily had chosen Snape then obviously the entire series would have been different. Harry might not have been born. Voldemort may not have given Harry his scar because he trusted Snape, so why would Voldemort want to hurt his main mans family? Or maybe if Harry was born he never would have been a double agent in the first place. James never would have came into play either. In my opinion if Lily would have chosen Snape the story would have been entirely different. But knowing JK Rowling she would have made this "other world/story" just as interesting.

Well if we're being accurate and technical about it, Voldy didn't torture the Longbottom's. That dubious honor goes to the Lestrange's.

Isadora Duncan Well, if Snape married Lily then it might just be the same story but Harry has a different dad and most likely a different name, Or his parents don't die and he knows he's a wizard, his dad works at his wizard school(He's most likely in Slytherin) and Voldy isn't trying to kill anyone and Harry(or what ever his new parents name him) has a normal life as a wizard instead of living with is Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and his Cousin Dudley.

Karthik Well, Snape and Lily's child would probably create some conflict on what house Harry 'Snape' would be sorted into. When a little piece of Voldemort is inside Harry, the sorting hat has some difficulty choosing. But if a whole parent is Slytherin, then Harry would probably be sorted in that as well.

Then Lily and Snape would probably have an unhappy life together if he still does down the dark route. He'd have a hard time convincing his Death Eater friends not to kill her and she'd spend a lot of time hanging around with people who'd discriminate against her blood status.

They could potentially have a child, but Snape doesn't seem like the person who'd want one to me. So I'd assume they'd have a childless marriage.

James probably would've found himself another woman to marry or just stayed single. I doubt he would've been moping around for years like Snape, he doesn't seem the type.

Also, sure it wouldn't be the same story. But there could be a potentially more interesting story to read. It's an interesting concept to explore.

I don't think Snape and Lily would've lasted long-term if he stuck to his values, but who knows?
