Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I better not watch it then, I have a bad history of not crying when I am suppose to. Nuts and I really wanted to see that. Thanks Brenda :D

Hayley I think I will join you in using Youtube ill and watching the trailer again and again and the few scenes that are bound to pop up from time to time.

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I saw the "Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug" the other day, and I really liked it, other than the inter-species love triangle of course. I thought it moved a little fast, but I cannot overstate how good the casting was.

I think my favorite part was the spiders, but I also liked the part with Fili's leg (Even though that whole things was so outside of the books.)

The Barrel scene was ridiculous, but I can understand why they did it that way.

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments I am anxiously awaiting the third movie. Around Xmas, right?

Ivan Me too.

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I was so afraid of the 2nd movie and was sure it was going to be awful, at least what I could see from the trailers, but now that I have seen it and really liked it, my anticipation of the third movie is running high!

message 62: by Gene (new)

Gene (ewdupler) | 255 comments I was pleasantly surprised by the second movie, and absolutely amazed by Smaug. When I first read The Hobbit, I had an image of a really big dragon in my mind. But the movie Smaug absolutely blew away anything in my wildest imagination. He was bigger, more fluid and scarier. And Benedict Cumberbatch did an incredible job with his voice.

The rest of the movie was good, but the dragon put it over the top for me.

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments So the new Hobbit movie "Battle of Five Armies" is coming out in December, I am sure plenty of you are aware of this. I want to have geek moment so do not read the spoiler if you have not read the books. I am going to ruin the movie for you.

(view spoiler)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments The trailers are just out, if you search around you can find them on line. OMG, it does look esxciting.

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Yes I just saw one. The elves armor is looking splendid! I am really looking forward to the plot development around Gandalf and the Necromancer. Since that is not in the Hobbit book. Not extensively at any rate, and I am unfamiliar with how that all plays out.

message 66: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments The Necromancer stuff is hinted at and alluded to in the various appendices and backup volumes. But it has never been on view, as it were.

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments AHHHH!!! Squeal of joy! My brother just took me to the "The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies" and I loved it! Everything was perfect, except that stupid female made up elf that drives me insane, but I refuse to dwell on that because I loved everything else so much. I cannot contain myself, I want to watch it again and again!

Do NOT READ unless you have read and remember the book. THIS WILL SPOIL IT!! There you have been warned. (view spoiler)

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) From an entertainment stance the movies are good. From a literary one, they are horrible. NOTHING like the book. As an avid reader, I way prefer the novel, and think they were trying too hard to make the film franchise. :( I was really upset by how vastly different the film(s) and book were from each other.

message 69: by Lora (new)

Lora (lorabanora) Yeah, I saw the first Hobbit movie and never went back to see the other two. Maybe one day- as entertainment, as you say.
