Faye I liked the ending too. Except that I felt the author was in a rush to finish the book. She could have written another book just like the twilight series, so the ending won't seem so abrupt.
Nonetheless, I like this trilogy. I hope she comes up with another equally superb trilogy. I can't wait to watch the movie of the 2nd book.
The reaping reminds me so much of the short story "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson.
read it here http://www.americanliterature.com/aut...

toroltao I loved the ending.

Nicholas The story would have been great had the author been a better storyteller. I could see it being a great movie under Micheal Bay (or any other SFX guru), but don't keep this piece of literature on your shelf.

I thought that Prim's death was complete overkill! There was no reason to do it and it just made the story even more miserable!

I hated it because it was pretty much as depressing as a book can get and really disturbing!

Isy H. Yes.

Annie I loved the book, it was tragic, and sad...but as I have said before in prior posts was is not pretty, and even though this book started off slow for me, I was enthralled by the end...yes I hate all the senseless violence that was in it...but it was still an excellent book..and I cried a lot reading it....lol

Ally I actually really loved this book, a lot of reviews are stating that they didn't like Katniss in this book because she was different and she had lost her fight and her spark and all I cold think was of course she's lost her fight and her spark! She's been through one helluva rough time! Forced to murder other kids, seeing her friends and loved ones killed, tortured and ripped apart, having her home destroyed, having no-one to trust in the whole world, living in constant fear .... Who wouldn't be a mess ?!! I am really glad that Collins wrote Katniss like this because I wouldn't have liked it otherwise because it wouldn't have felt real and wouldn't have been half as emotional or moving.

I didn't enjoy this book at all. The entire concept was disturbing

Ryann O'Carroll I liked this book, but not as much as the first and second books. Can't wait till the movies come out!

Isabella I really liked the book. For me, I think that it actually got better the more times I read it. When I really thought in depth about the content of the book, it made a lot more sense. Especially Prim's death. And I really liked how President Coin was introduced as being one of the "good guys" because she was with the rebellion, but she actually wasn't much better than Snow. I thought that it was a good ending to the trilogy.

I agree!

Melody Bookgirl wrote: "I loved this book...

The only negative thing i have to say about it is I just wish the ending about the kids was longer and more detailed."

Yeah! I would love to know what happened to the kids!

Melody Rachael wrote: "It probably is fitting and quite realistic to how someone with PTSD would behave as stated by someone else, but again, I still wasn't happy with it. And I don't think it sits right with their chara..."

I think that Gale didn't abandon her willingly. He did love her and he knew that she would never be able to look at him again. I don't really know what to say to defend her mum. I think that she didn't so much want to abandon Katniss as much as she didnt want to go back to District 12. She had lost so much there and I think she wanted a new start.

Melody Jessica wrote: "No the book was so bad I like the first two"

Why didn't you like it?

Melody Teo wrote: "I loved the book except for when Prim died because her hair caught on fire and she burned to death."

Leah wrote: "So THAT's what happened??? I thought that she died in the blast."

That's what I thought as well. Teo do you know where is specifies that? I think that I read it too fast because it was so sad and I must have missed it.

Jo I really loved the book too. One thing that I really enjoyed Suzanne doing was to make the Capitol use Peeta as a tool against Katniss, really thought that created so much emotions for both the readers and for Katniss. I really thought the ending was clever and a good solution to everything that happens in the book. Plus I was hoping Peeta and Katniss would end up together I think he was the one to take care of her while Gale isn't as gentle as Peeta. ^^I think it's a bit sad that Katniss and Gale don't talk much after what happened even though the device he invented killed Prim (Although this is not certain because Gale's intention wasn't to kill Prim)
But over all I like the book but it's not my favourite, The Hunger Games is the best one out of the three in my opinion. :D<3

Mervat I liked it, yet it was a bit slow & boring at times, but overall its good. The ending was not bad, but I was disappointed in Gale. I didn't like that he just disappeared like he never existed before in Katniss's life. A bit cold of him.

Kressel Housman If not for the lack of emotion in Prim's death, I probably would have liked the ending. Prim is the reason Katniss volunteered for the games in the first place. Her immediate emotional reaction should have paralleled her reaction when Prim's name was first drawn in the reaping.

April I loved this book. It was my favorite book in the whole series to be honest. I loved the action, the character developement and everything about the whole series and this book.

Tiffany Ferrant Actually, the third book was my favorite out of the 3. Everyone got hung up on the little details and didn't realize the main idea and it's brilliance. The end disappointed me though. I thought it was selfish of Gale to leave Katniss like that. Also, I feel like they didn't explain Prim's death enough. Rue's death in the first book was pages long, and Katniss' own little sister barely got a paragraph.

Jory First thing's first: I love all three of the books.

That being said, here's my problem with the ending. I'm glad Katniss ended up with Peeta. I know a lot of Katniss + Gale shippers were disappointed, but realistically, Gale was never right for her. Gale loved her, yes, but he loved rebellion more. She never wanted to fight, only did what she had to. But even though I felt like she ended up with the right person, the WAY she ended up with him felt too easy. The whole series was pointing toward some huge choice she was going to have to make and in the end, the decision was made by Gale (he chose the fight). Thus, the argument could be made that she ended up with Peeta by default, because he was the one that DIDN'T get her sister killed. Annoying. And unfair to Peeta. I felt that by ending it this way, Collins was pretty much just giving up with the decision because she couldn't find other justifiable reasons. Easy way out. That's all.

Aaron Weber I was very pleased with the ending to the series, Mockingjay was in fact my favorite of the 3 books.

There may have been a lot of action, but to be honest, in the midst of a war, how can you expect otherwise?

The book ended in a bittersweet, yet pleasant form.
