SPOILER!! Was I the only one who enjoyed this book and thought that the ending was good?

I thought that Prim's death was complete overkill! There was no reason to do it and it just made the story even more miserable!

I hated it because it was pretty much as depressing as a book can get and really disturbing!

I didn't enjoy this book at all. The entire concept was disturbing

I agree!

The only negative thing i have to say about it is I just wish the ending about the kids was longer and more detailed."
Yeah! I would love to know what happened to the kids!

I think that Gale didn't abandon her willingly. He did love her and he knew that she would never be able to look at him again. I don't really know what to say to defend her mum. I think that she didn't so much want to abandon Katniss as much as she didnt want to go back to District 12. She had lost so much there and I think she wanted a new start.

That's what I thought as well. Teo do you know where is specifies that? I think that I read it too fast because it was so sad and I must have missed it.

But over all I like the book but it's not my favourite, The Hunger Games is the best one out of the three in my opinion. :D<3

That being said, here's my problem with the ending. I'm glad Katniss ended up with Peeta. I know a lot of Katniss + Gale shippers were disappointed, but realistically, Gale was never right for her. Gale loved her, yes, but he loved rebellion more. She never wanted to fight, only did what she had to. But even though I felt like she ended up with the right person, the WAY she ended up with him felt too easy. The whole series was pointing toward some huge choice she was going to have to make and in the end, the decision was made by Gale (he chose the fight). Thus, the argument could be made that she ended up with Peeta by default, because he was the one that DIDN'T get her sister killed. Annoying. And unfair to Peeta. I felt that by ending it this way, Collins was pretty much just giving up with the decision because she couldn't find other justifiable reasons. Easy way out. That's all.

There may have been a lot of action, but to be honest, in the midst of a war, how can you expect otherwise?
The book ended in a bittersweet, yet pleasant form.

Nonetheless, I like this trilogy. I hope she comes up with another equally superb trilogy. I can't wait to watch the movie of the 2nd book.
The reaping reminds me so much of the short story "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson.
