message 154: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) Oh my goodness yes, the day the ship almost went down.......

Let us never speak of it again,

message 155: by Cheyenne (new)

Cheyenne | 815 comments Deal, I suppose. :)

message 156: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Page 17 of the haiku thread had disappeared. Then the Popcorn Served thread was gone. “I wish threads weren’t disappearing,” Kat remarked. “I’ll let you all know what’s going on as soon as I get to the bottom of things,” Alex reassured the crew. More threads vanished. Then moderators began disappearing . . .

M | 11617 comments Don’t miss this exciting cyber-drama by the writers who brought you The Adventures of Captain Pike. Directed by Edward, produced by CJ, and filmed in Super-8!

M | 11617 comments Kat: (Standing in the doorway of the chartroom, her hair hanging in her eyes, a bloody sword in hand.) I saved all but page 17 of the haiku thread.
Alex: (Leaning over the chart table.) Now members are being kicked out of the group and banned. I don’t know what to do.
M: (Leafing back through a heavy ledger, the ship’s log.) Save everything you can, especially the contest threads.
Alex: Yes, those are important.
(Suddenly the ship rolls to port, as though it has hit something underwater. There are cries from the crew on deck. Kyra’s voice shouts, “Throw him a line.” A few minutes later, Guy comes into the chartroom, soaked.)
Guy: You know, it’s funny, not ten minutes ago, I was just thinking about the unlikelihood of falling overboard in a sea as calm as this.
Stephanie: (Poring over the chart.) The chart shows a hundred fathoms. (A puzzled look on her face.) There’s nothing for us to have hit.
M: (Concerned.) Either the group is being sabotaged, or threads should be vanishing in other groups because something is wrong with the GR program.
Alex: (Glancing up.) The groups I’m in are fine. All the threads are there.
(There’s a tremendous crash. Moments later, Christa appears in the doorway.)
Christa: (Breathless.) The foremast has toppled. The major threads holding it up vanished. (She looks gratefully at Kat.) Thank you for saving me from that sea monster!
(From outside, there are cries. Ajay’s voice calls, “Hang on, Hanzle!” Ryan’s voice calls, “Tim, grab that line!” Christa goes back on deck. Moments later, Ajay appears in the door. Alex explains to him what’s going on.)
Ajay: Vanishing threads? Oh my, but why!?
Kat: (Sitting down wearily on the steps.) We don’t have any idea. It seems someone has a vendetta against the group. Members have been getting deleted, mods have been getting removed, threads are disappearing. (She sets down her sword and runs her scraped fingers wearily through her hair.) I saved the haiku thread, but the popcorn thread is gone, and so are a few others.
Ajay: The popcorn is gone?
M: (With a heavy sigh.) The popcorn thread is gone. I’m just sick. (He closes the ship’s log.) The scary thing is that we don’t know why any of it has happened or what’s going to happen next.
(Ajay moves aside as Frank, a bottle of whiskey in his hand, elbows his way in and faces Alex.)
Frank: (Taking a drink.) Our popcorn is gone.
Alex: (Leaving the chart table, she pats his back.) I know, darling.

message 159: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Alex! I got a little carried away.

message 160: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) Wow M that is fantastic, it should totally be made into a short movie:D Who could we get to play Alex that would be good enough?

message 161: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Lol. Nice.

message 162: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Well, I have my director's cap on. Actually, it's my McDonald's cap, but I get to tell people what to do when I wear it, so it works.

message 163: by Hanzleberry (new)

Hanzleberry (doughboyissweet) | 1065 comments That was very entertaining, M. :)

message 164: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments M, you're brilliant!!! That was absolutely beautiful.

message 165: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I can just picture Edward directing, with his cap on! “Let’s go through that again . . .” The prop mistress straightens the chart room. A make-up artist touches up Kat’s face and fingers. Out on deck, a stage hand dumps another bucket of water on Guy.

message 166: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Yup. Same here, M.

message 167: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Hanzle and Kyra!

message 168: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Nikara: I could direct.
Sara: And I'm sure you'd do a crap job of it, too.
Nikara: (scoff) Oh? And so you think you could do better, then?
Sara: I say we have M direct. It was his script, anyways.
Kyra Eh... Guys? You realize we're not making an actul movie, right?
Sara: (ignoring Kyra) I say we make two versions; one where everyone plays themselves, and another where we have other members fill in their roles. The comparison should be hilarious.
Nikara: Great! I call Kat.
Kyra: (sighs in exasperation and walks away)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Kat: Captain! Captain! The ship is going down!
Alex: Edward, we must try to get the water from filling the cabin. Who knows the codes to emptying the lower rooms?
M: I think I do!
Kyra: CJ might be able to handle it.
CJ: Right.
Stephanie: Wait. I don't know about that.
CJ: (Thinking) Yeah. Never mind. Hmm. The last time I tried to fix the engine it exploded. I don't want to know what else I can "fix" if given the chance. Better see if someone else could do the job...

(Then Guy sent a "help" signal to the major ship named "Goodreads." Then after some time they came and saved the day...)

Meanwhile, as Cheyenne and Albert snore somewhere below deck oblivious to the goings on . . . LOL. That was great, M. You should write a short story in complete metaphor. I bet it would be good.

message 184: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Sara: Oh, careful!!! Deck's slippery.
Nikki: We can see that.
Kyra: You alright, Cheyenne?
Nikki: Why's the deck wet, anyways?
Sara: (snorts) Why do you think? I've been swabbing it.
Nikki: (skeptical) Sure you have.

message 185: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LoL.
