Vanishing Threads
Hi Pirates! I'm just wondering where the whole vanishing problem currently sits over the other side of the world?I still have full access to everything, as far as I can tell. I can open and read every thread with no bad links so far. I've been removed as a moderator though...oh, that's right, I never was one :D
Any progress?
At your prompt, I just tested a couple of the links fromt the group home: most seem to be working, but popcorn still isn't for me.So, it looks like some progress is being made. But now I'm going to bed - its 1:30 in the morning here.
Night.

Today must not be your birthday, Stephanie, because it hasn’t turned out to be the end of the world. Goodreads came up and the W.S.S. is still afloat.
Christa, I haven’t heard anything back from Goodreads. The link to the “Get your story/poem reviewed” thread isn’t working. I typed it into the group’s search engine, and a link to it came up, so I think the thread may still be there, but I couldn’t get to it.
It probably is. The first page might be unavailable though so that's probably why we can't access it from the homepage. Like the popcorn thread.
Try this link:http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2...
I don't think it worked for anyone yesterday, but give it a shot.
You can rest easy though-the entire thread still exists. I just opened it then and can see it all. The more I look into this, the more I agree with M - I don't think the goodreads servers are handling the amount of traffic...
Hopefully the link works. I might try sending it in a message, M, and see if that works for you...
Tried it from my Nook. Can't see it roght now. I thinkI can from the goodreads app if I remember correctly.
Thanks, Ryan! I clicked the link and got the “Page not found” message. I wonder if GR is being slow to reply because this is happening all over the place and they have their hands full? That link will come in handy.
Mine is a bit hit and miss if I use the goodreads website at present too. Try using the iPad app, Guy. I haven't had a single problem via that...
I hope so! I haven't had any problems yet, so I'm keeping my fingers, toes, legs, arms, and eyes crossed.
I can’t tell whether Edward, in #144, is referring the the actual thread or to this one. When I read Kat’s comment about keeping her eyes crossed, I started laughing.
Ehehe, I actually do that sometimes, if I really want something to happen. I'm sure I look like a pretzel XD

Here's what the support people sent me in response to the e.mail I sent to them:Goodreads SupportSo, GR had a known bug, as opposed to a virus. So far, I've not experienced any other thread failures, and with the other comments here, it looks like that that bug fix may have fixed our group.

Hi Guy,
I’m so sorry to hear that some of your threads were inaccessible. We fixed a bug this morning that affected some group threads. All of your information should be safe, and you will no longer see any “page not found” errors when you try to open group threads. Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues, and I will look into your group specifically.
Unfortunately, there is currently no way for moderators to download the contents of threads. I can suggest this as a new feature, but it’s unlikely that we will get to this soon – I’m really sorry about that. There also is not a backup or a change log available to view for group threads. Once something has been deleted, it is permanently removed from our system.
Please let me know if you have any further questions about this.
Best,
Emily

My air card signal flatlined yesterday evening, and I couldn’t log on. I had gotten a similar message from Goodreads, but it came to my e-mail, which I hardly ever check anymore, so my wife discovered it:Hi M,
Thanks for your message. We just fixed a bug this morning that affected group threads. If you were receiving a “page not found” error when you clicked on specific group threads, this should no longer be happening!
Please let me know if it looks like there is something else wrong with your group discussions, and I’ll look into it further.
Best,
Emily

Thank heavens! I thought somebody had pulled the plug on the pirate ship. Phil and Narvis expected rising water. It took thirty mice and Ralph the cat to move Ray’s typewriter from the hold to an unused cabin on an upper deck.
Trust the mice to rescue the typewriter and not the captain! LoL. The word is, after all, mightier than hook.
Mouse #3: Why is it that every time M opens his mouth, he gets in trouble about something?Mouse #1: He’s got Irish blood in him, Earl.
Mouse #8: (Nibbling a chocolate-covered espresso bean.) Ah, yes. My great-grandmother was from the old sod. (Looks at Phil and Earl.) Somebody’s been using this cabin to stash some great snacks!
Mouse #1: (Contentedly dragging out a honeycomb.) I see that.

Agreed.
