Global Donnica (globaldonnica) For me there are many but I'm always interested in the many ways people practice this wonderful craft...

Aaron Carson | 1216 comments I used to be in charge of cleaning the candle stands at the locale temple. I was instructed to dispose of the old stubs from the previous night, and replace them with new candles each day.

This always struck me as wasteful, so I'd take the stubs home with me, and create fabulous, many tiered towers in my candelabrum. Then I'd paint them black, using a combination of ash from my wood-stove, and mustard oil.

Unfortunately I hadn't really anticipated the flammable qualities of ash and oil together, so when we went to use our fabulous, gothic looking black candles for Samhuinn, we had to rush through our invocation, before the candles burnt down to nothing. It took them a minute, where it normally takes an hour.

Megan Nolen (meggie1986) | 7 comments i use them combined with insence in my meditation. conbined they help me to clear my mind and let my soul accept whatever the universe needs to disclose to me during such time. Its hard to use my insence anymore though at the place I'm at seeing as how my neighbors always call it in to the mgmt at my apartment and they put non complinance notices on my door. I aslo use candle with sage for cleansing myself or my bf and anything new that comes into my life and home just to keep the negitive at bay and try to bring in as much positive influence as possible...

Aaron Carson | 1216 comments And we're supposed to be living in a free society! What kind of fascist, anti spiritual nonsense is that? Ridiculous ordinance. I've never understood building that have rules like that. Mind you, it does mean that when you do get to burn incense, it has that forbidden sweetness.

Megan Nolen (meggie1986) | 7 comments it kind of does. I guess they group incense with smoking as far as their rules go..But I stil burn it on a daily basis anyway if they want to say something again to me I will file discrimination on them for religious reasons. Because incense is NOT the same as smoking...

Aaron Carson | 1216 comments In a way, your story kind of reflects the old prejudices against Pagans and witches, and the negative connotations the words came to represent, and then subsequently, how delicious those very words came to be for those of us who chose that path, when we finally evolved into a free society.

Would your building object to you having a pagan mask on your apartment door? I'm finding all of this forbidden fruit business quite thrilling actually. It makes me want to cross the line.

My neighbours have their own issues with me, but Hindus tend to be very accepting of other faiths. They do object to my weed garden though. They just can't understand the point of it, and keep wanting to plant coriander. How can I explain that I'm trying to create a miniature God's Wood?

Global Donnica (globaldonnica) Just keep doing what you're doing... eventually they will come to understand or appreciate it... maybe add something aestetic it will make it look more becoming
