Barry | 11 comments I couldn't find where I pledged to read 10 books in the last 11 to 13 weeks of last year, but the goal was met with; At All Costs by David Weber, The Legend Of Huma (Dragon Lance) by Richard A. Knaak, Freehold by Michael Z. Williamson, The Philosophical Strangler by Eric Flint, Sliding Scales by Alan Dean Foster, The Speed of Dark by Elizabeth Moon, Running From The Diety by Alan Dean Foster, The Dark Tide by Dennis L. McKiernan, Princess of Wands by John Ringo, Dragon's Kin by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey, and I think there is one more. That is 4092 pages that I can confirm.
Now for this year, my pledge is at least 40 books and a minimum of 20,000 pages.
How many books and pages do you plan on reading this year?

Lori (tnbbc) I think your challenge was placed on the BOOK CHALLENGE thread in the BOOK CHALLENGE group.
(Im a member of that group as well!)

I had challenged myself to read 50 books - started in sept 07 and to finish by sept 08. Im in the mid 20's right now.

I also started the Alphabet challenge, that will start now - jan08... and coincides with my regular challenge. I will try to read a book by an author from each letter of the alphabet!

Good luck on your challenge!

Barry | 11 comments Thank you, Lori.
So far I have finished three books and 1073 pages.
Days of Infamy by Harry Turtledove. 520 pages.
The Great Taos Bank Robbery by Tony Hillerman. 178 pages.
Into the Thinking Kingdoms by Alan Dean Foster. 375 pages.
Which puts me on schedule for books, but behind on pages.
I am currently reading, Blue Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson, and End of the beginning by Harry Turtledove.
No credit until the book is finished.

Barry | 11 comments I finished one more on the 29th, The End of the Beginnig by Harry Turtledove, 519 pages.
I am still reading Blue Mars (over 700 eye crossing pages) and have started The Ram Rebellion by David Weber et al.
I'm a little behind on pages read with 1592 completed and 18408 pages and 36 books to go.

Barry | 11 comments Been awhile since I posted. I haven't had as much time lately but here is what I've read since last time:
The Ram Rebellion by Eric Flint and Virginia DeMarce (Not David Weber, my bad), 702 pages.
Off Armageddon Reef by David Weber, 772 pages.
Forward The Mage By Eric Flint and Richard Roach, 585 pages.
Blue Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson, 761 pages.
That's 4412 pages completed and 15588 to go and 8 books finished with 32 to go.

Barry | 11 comments I missed a couple posts on this string so i will just say I am up to 12666 pages read (7334 to go) and 23 books finished (17 to go).

Angela (bookgirlindc) | 5 comments I've got a goal of 100 books by Dec. 31st. I have to have read them completely and they must be new to me. I usually don't share this goal with others because I get such negativity when I do.

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 2 comments Why negativity? I think it's a good goal. I haven't yet set a challenge for myself but I read all the time. Maybe to eventually get to the end of my "To-Read" list...probably impossible since I keep adding to it.

Good luck with your goal! :)

message 9: by C.G. (new)

C.G. (samatwitch) | 11 comments I think it's a good goal, too. Do you have any criteria for the books, or is it just 100 books you want to read?

I keep track of the books I read each month. Years ago, hen I was laid off and wasn't doing outside work, I read over 400 books in a year, but now it's closer to 100. ;)
