The Italians have the cover with the blackbird. They got screwed over. Look here to see a full sized picture of the standard cover: Boom. Now tell me that isn't a double wide load of awesome. Tell me it isn't. Then I will fight you because there is no other option.
Fun intro. I tried to look up "mecky". One person on the internet used it as a rhyme insult like this: "The techy-mecky-ben-aflecky elite." Still not sure what it means but I want to prance around an IT person and call them a techy-mecky-ben-aflecky. Maybe I just want to prance around.

I have a gut feeling that is non-helpful. But very cute. Last thing before I start: bravo for named chapters.

I think the beginning of the intro is both verbally and visually strong "The year is 1364. Hungry creatures stalk the dark woods..." The subsequent conversation about the village and word are maybe an early indicator that some people have started this book in error and should not continue. A narrative "reconsider reading this now if you are already offended" of sorts.
