Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 8 comments I just wanted to say hello! My name is Keara Clifford and I am a first time author with Freya's Bower publishing company :) Please, please feel free to friend me because I have none at the moment since today is my first day on it ! :)

Good luck with your first book. What is it about?

message 3: by Keara (new)

Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 8 comments Thank you very much ! :) I have pasted the description that I have on my website.

It is written from the viewpoint of the main character, Chloe, as she is determined to date as many people as possible before Graduation from college in order to find The One. The characters excessively use blunt humor or satire to comfort themselves of the disastrous dates they go on. The book looks at how the main character feels she needs a significant other in order to be complete, but the journey to find the perfect boyfriend causes her to realize that it might not be the most important thing.

Chloe has to deal with her crappy bartending job four times a week in order to pay rent and a pile of bills, her cheating ex boyfriend who refuses to leave her alone, her closest friend is in love with a man who doesn’t give a toss, her dogs refuse to be housetrained, and her idea of The One is a Leonardo Dicaprio look alike who doesn’t like Supermodels.

Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 8 comments can I ask what you write and if you have any new releases coming out?

message 5: by Arthur, Mod! discussion mod privilege (new)

Arthur | 80 comments Mod
No I haven't written. But that does sound like a lighter-side reading. I enjoy a book that can be treated lightly as fun. It certainly the heartful humor I want to see in a book.

How do you find out about your sales? Do you make a lot of money from a first book?

message 6: by Keara (new)

Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 8 comments it is very light hearted but the main character has a very sarcastic sense of humor. i enjoyed writing it :) My release date for my book has not been set yet... my ms is in line for an editor. But once I have edited it and found out a release date I think I can follow my sales online at the publishing company website. Its an ebook (do you know much about ebooks? I'm curious to how people feel about downloaded their books onto their computer). So I havent made any money yet! I have to expose the book as much as I can!

Thank you for the friending on facebook as well :)

Yeah ebooks are still hitting a public getting into a mainstream okay, I bought one a while ago by another author here at Goodreads. The thing is when I read I like to share my ideas about the book. I can say get it at the library. Ebooks are technically copyrighted, but ebooks are becoming the lightest practice of carrying a book. One buddy I have drives a transport, and he commented to me that all he has time for is voice books that way he plays them while he drives. He doesn't find to open a book any other way. But I like the mystery of a book and someone who may purchase an ebook online can see the material right off the ebook shelf quicker than going to a store. And it helps distribute novels in rural areas that have internet but no book stores. I like the feel of ebook but it’s still a ebook vs paper for me.

message 8: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) I prefer normal books. Starting at a screen for hours doesn't apeal to me too much, although I can do it without a problem if I need to. i just prefer actual paper. I think that's because I'm one of those people who smells books. mmmmmmm book-smell. :)

The new trade paperback does smell like money. Some do especially when just ink printed. Some fine print smell like newspapers. Of course I need to sniff new U.S. money again because I haven’t in years. Did anyone know we have monitory coin in Canada to replace the smaller dollar bills which has been a huge help in our economic success. I mainly use a credit card on top of that. And don’t think I don't think in terms of smell, like Veronica, even when all things have a designed smell. My parents always used one of those soda boxes in the fridge trick. I hated that. w/e. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. What about the old books? What about the hand held computers or kindles? ha.

message 10: by Keara (new)

Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 8 comments haha. i agree you Roni. I love the smell of books. not so much the old ones.. but the new ones... i always stop reading to take big whiffs. :)

message 11: by Keara (new)

Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 8 comments Thank you Arthur for the insight on ebooks. im just trying to get used to the idea.. but it seems like more and more people are doing it because its cheaper so maybe its a good thing!!

message 12: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Old books make me sneeze... so I prefer new-book smell.
Oh, and there was one book that smelled particularly good that I was reading a while ago. It's called Lost, by Gregory Mcguire. I think it might have just been my copy though. Hmmm.

I like old-book smell, if it's not dusty. My grandparents have a cottage in MI and they've got lots of books kept in cabinets that smell heavenly.

message 14: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments Do you do reviews, Keara? If so, that would be greatly appreciated. And don't try to be nice. Be harsh and rip my writing into shreds. Shred it so much that there is only "the" left to work from.

I dislike books, so many bugs in them. I prefer reading online.

message 15: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I LOVE BOOKS! Especially RTN (my Random Thoughts Notebook), the Dictionary, and books to read! I didn't like when my baby sister ripped out my book report from my notebook. I had to tape it back on.
>_<

message 16: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments Well, of course I like books, I'm on Goodreads, but I would prefer reading online than on paper. I love my opening rectangle of perfection...

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) You can't smell, or touch the paper in a screen. You can't hold a perfectly shaped binding in a computer.

message 18: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I always misplace the website address that was on a sticky note. Both are fine with me though. As long as it's something to read.....
You spin my head right round...

(sorry. still have it stuck in my head)

message 19: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments But books are so breakable, and they have so many bugs in them. I like to avoid bugs when I can, which is funny because I really enjoy learning about them. In Florida they even have like book scorpions. And there are book lice and other such bugs...

message 20: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Books are not a breakable as computer.

If books are PROPERLY taken care of, they have no bugs.

message 21: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments Psh... Too much work.

And are you kidding! Books are much easier to loose! Besides, computers have multiple purposes.

message 22: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) How do you loose a 900-page hardcover?

message 23: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments You live in a messy house...

message 24: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Anuhea! That song was playing at lunch today! And my friend commented that he hates that song.

And bugs? I've never seen a book with bugs...

message 25: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I just have If You Seek Amy by Britney Spears, Right Round by Flo Rida, and Poker Face by Lady GaGa stuck in my head. I live in Florida, and I have not seen a single book scorpion or a book lice. Or whatever it is. I've seen silverfish, flies, spiders, ants, bees. That's about it.

message 26: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments They don't usually come out while people are around.

message 27: by Carole, bluest mod (new)

Carole (cbusedtousethis) | 138 comments Mod
Well then, why do they matter for people?

message 28: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Yeah? I've also seen cockroaches, wasps, and stuff like that. I was almost going to say a dog. Then I remembered it isn't an insect. It's an animal. So stupid of me. WHY? WHY? Maybe because I'm watching HP1.

message 29: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) I've seen spiders, ants, bees, wasps, ladybugs, crickets, grasshoppers, butterflies, gnats, horseflies, flies, fruit flies, and a whole bunch of other insects/bugs, but never have I seen any in books.

message 30: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I know, me too. I forgot about ladybugs, butterflies. I would rather not see any in books though. I would flip. I remember once I was going on a walk with my family, and saw a smashed bird. I was freaking out!

Is it hard to be rid of them?

message 33: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Yeah, I wanna know. Just in case I ever meet them...

message 34: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) I have never seen a bug in a book.

message 35: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Here, I'll find her.

MARIA! WHERE ARE YOU?

You'll just have to wait for a while. It's the same with all you mods. You guys don't come here all the time.

korrinamoe Mods can't make me hate reading. Anyway, Lauren, who owned who?

message 43: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) EvaAnne, cause even if the mods have power, they're never here.

message 44: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I know! They don't use their power! They need to come and talk more often. Or something...

That's fine. (But please don't direct any personal feelings or questions above my head about HP. I haven't read HP or many Juvenal books. I did read Twilight. Everyone's read either HP and Twilight and have a link to a web page or something. Other than this, I'm good.)

message 47: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Juvenile? Hardly. :)

message 48: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I've read both, but I'm not CRAZY about HP and Twilight. Though, I used to LOVE the HP series. I'd read it over and over again.
