Has Suzanne Collins ever said whether the symbol of the mockingjay is a nod to Nelle Harper Lee's "'Tis a sin to kill a mockingbird"?

I don't think so, but now that you mention it, I can see the resemblance from Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. You may be on to something.
