Be sure to give us the title and author of your book and to tell us what page you are on and how many total pages there are in your book. Also, tell us how many books that you have read so far for SSR. If you have just started a new SSR book, you may post on the last book that you read. In your post, state whether you are making a TEXT TO TEXT, TEXT TO SELF OR TEXT TO WORLD connection. Then go on to describe the similarities between your book and the world around you, yourself or another book that you have read. You need to describe TWO connections in all.

Jared | 6 comments The book im reading is still Slam the auther is Walter Myers.I am on page 200 there is 265 pages. The connections i will make is 'TEXT TO SELF'TEXT TO WORLD in TEXT TO SELF it reminds me of myself because i try to suceed in school with all a's b's and i play sports its hard doing both defintly if you live in the hood because there are so many distractions. My TEXT TO THE WORLD is basically the same thing there are so many kids that play sports and dont give effort in class and that try to make it out the streets.

Ratha Meas (RathaM) | 7 comments The name of my book is called "Finding Fish: A Memoir", by Antwone Quenton Fisher. I have read all the pages in my book. There is a total of 340 pages in my book. So far I'm done reading "Finding Fish", I am currently looking for a second book for SSR. "Finding Fish" is TEXT TO TEXT and TEXT TO WORLD. First, I can relate this book to "The Bully" because in both of the books is about a boy getting abused. For example, in "Finding Fish", Fisher is constantly abuse, he gets choked and whipped with a belt daily, he is put into a dark room, and locked in it for hours. In "The Bully", Darrel gets bullied by a boy named Tyrone. For example, one day Tyrone and his gang saw Darrel walking up the street, and they jumped him. Leaving him with a broken arm and mild concussion. Next, I can relate this book to the world because many kids are abused in the world. For example, on the new, a women name Casey Anthony, killed her own daughter. She taped her daughter's mouth and suffocated her. She had to go to trial and she was found not guilty. This is how I can relate "Finding Fish" to a book and the world.

Tom Realdine | 6 comments I just finished a book called "The Truth Of The Matter" by Andrew Klavan. It is the third book in the homelander series. It was the best one out of the three I have read so far. There are four total books in the series. This book was the third book I have read so far for SSR. In the book it has a "TEXT TO SELF" connection, and a "TEXT TO WORLD" connection. First it is a "TEXT TO SElF" connection because the main character, Charlie West, reminds me of myself. He is very outgoing and never gives up no matter what. It is a "TEXT TO WORLD" connection because he has a lot of home landers trying to kill him because he joined they're group as an undercover agent and they found out and are trying to kill him because they don't want anyone who does not work for them knowing about them. Home landers are kind of like terrorists, they kill people for no reason. That is why this is a "TEXT TO WORLD" connection, because there are a lot of bad people today who try and kill innocent people.

Anthony L | 7 comments I am on my second book for SSR it's called Son of the Mob 2. I am on page 69 of 268. The author of this book is the as the first one Gordon Korman. since I just started this book I'm going to use my first book for SSR witch is The Outsiders. The connection that I can make from that book is text to world and that's because in The Outsiders they wear in a gang and there wear fights and people died. Where we live at today it is always happening gangs fight other gangs people get shot and they die. If u turn on the news you will se it it's always on there. Another connection that I can make is text to self and that's because in The Outsiders Ponyboy like to go the movies and read books by himself and that reminds me of me I like to watch movies alone so I live the movie

Ali | 5 comments I am on my second book for ssr. The book I am reading is The Outsiders. I am currently on page 45 out of 180. The author of this book is S.E Hinton. The connections that I got from this book is "text to the world" because in the outsiders they are in there are fights, gangs and bad neighborhoods and that goes on today in our world. Another connection would be "text to text". This book is very similar to another book I have read, "That was Then this is now". Also by S.E Hinton. They are alike because in the other book there are also gangs, fights and even relatable characters.

Kimberly (misfittoyx) | 6 comments I am still on my first book of SSR, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." I am on page 231 out of 318. One connection with Tom Sawyer would be "Text to Self" because he finds out something that a very mean man did not want anyone knowing, and he doesn't know if he should tell or not. So he keeps this as a secret for a very long time, not knowing what would happen to himself if he tells. Another connection would be "Text to World" because Tom goes through things in the book that a lot of people go through. He has problems with girls, friends, family. He doesn't know how much they actually care for him so he feels like he doesn't have a place to be around them. I also believe that this goes with the real world.

Cierra Richardson The title of my book is called Until We Meet Again by : Anne Schraff, Im on page 60 out of 144 pages . I read two books so far during SSR . One connection Anne Schraff is making is TEXT TO SELF because i can relate to this , i have made some bad decisions as a young teen & did not care of the consequences that comes with it so this book i can really relate to . Another connection she would be making is TEXT TO WORLD because in this book she talks about how us " teenagers " reach a certain age and start making the wrong decisions . Such as giving up on school & not choosing the finer things in life . One more connection she making is TEXT TO TEXT , this book is similar to the other book i have read during SSR called The Lovely Bones because they both is about making the wrong decisions as a young teen .

Myiesha | 4 comments i have just started reading a new book and i am on page 24 out of 219. and the book i am reading is kalled doing my own thing by nikki carter. the 1st connection is TEXT-TEXT because in Point Blank Alex was conserned about his family and in Doing my own Thing Sunday is worried about being able too make sure her family has money to get by in life. so i think that both of these books have some of the same messages behind the story of them. 2nd connection is TEXT-WORLD Sunday is about too go off to college while trying too pursue a music career as well i think that refers to life in some ways because now a days if you dont even have a h.s diploma let alone college degree you wont become nothing and just as many other people in the world Sunday is showing how you can do both and be ok at doing both but stil know where to find the balance between the career and school. and that relates to alot of people in the world, that are doing the same thing trying to do there own thing and become something in the world.

message 11: by Joey (new)

Joey Kramer | 7 comments My book is called "Killing Lincoln". It is by Bill O'reilly and Martin Dugard. A connection is that is is telling stories that actually happened. Such as Genral Grant intercepting General Lee before he could give the signal too his men. Another connection is that John Wilks Booth did assassinate Abe Lincoln at the Ford Theater. There are no main characters as it is just stories leading up to the assination of Presdent Lincoln

message 12: by Alana (new)

Alana Mitchell | 5 comments I am now reading The Giver by Lois Lowry, so far I am on page 21 and there are 179 pages. A connection is that it is telling a story about people living in a totally different life than we are. Another connection is that the people who are living in this life have special jobs, they aren't like the jobs people have in our life. The main character in this story is Jonas, and that is all I know about the story so far,

message 13: by Ziair (new)

Ziair Jackson | 6 comments The SSR book im currently reading is Third & Indiana , the book is written by the author Steve Lopez . This is my 2nd SSr book im on page 23 out of 300 . A connection i got from the book so far is TEXT TO WORLD . This book has some similaries with the book " The Gun - one of the Bluford series. It talks about the drug , violence and young men taking the wrong road down that path to death or jail . This book is a text to world because it talks and describe the families that live in drug wars and violence places in the north Philadelphia area . It goes deep and beyond families struggles . The book explains a mother going to look for her son on every different corner , knowing is he dead or in Jail ,

message 14: by Quiir (new)

Quiir Boyer The book i'm reading is "100 plays we will never forget". I'm on page 10 out of 215. The connection I can make to text to world is that these plays happened in real life. Every single play in this book was once done in actual life. The similarities in this book is that I play football. And I can relate to what is happening in this book becuase I know what its like to be on a team, to win and to lose but to stay strong. I enjoy this book very much and will continue reading it.

Timothy Le | 6 comments I just finished this book called "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. The first connection I choose is "TEXT TO SELF" it remind me of myself when I was little. I sometimes didn't speak up for myself. Just like the main character in my book "Speak". The main character barely speak up for herself. Another connection I choose is "TEXT TO WORLD" it's similar to that happen in today's world. People getting raped everyday. People don't speak up for themselves. All these stuff are very similar to the book "Speak".

message 16: by Dequan (new)

Dequan Carr | 6 comments I am reading Bang! by Sharon G. Flake. I am on page 56 out of 298 pages. This book is my second SSR book and I like it so far. I can say this book is TEXT TO WORLD & TEXT TO TEXT. it is TEXT TO WORLD because in this book Mann is going through a life in which everyone around him is getting killed. The world is just like this . It is TEXT TO TEXT because I read a book named Tyrell which is sort of similar with violence.

Liana Maranan | 2 comments I am still reading the book Ruined. I am on page 149. This book is still my first SSR. This book's connection is Text to World & Text to Self. Its text to Self because the girl Rebecca feels out of place when she first moved in New Orleans and she moves in this creepy house with her aunt. When I first came to America I felt the same way. Also Rebecca was treated invisibly in her new school. I can relate to that because in 1st grade i felt the same way. It was hard for me to make friends and it took a while. But for the both of us we eventually made a friend and started there.
Another connection is Text to World. It's text to world because in this world, people are forced to move in different places against their will and move to new places they never been in. And this is how Rebecca felt when her dad made her move to New Orleans because he went on a business trip. Also in the society we live in you don't know who you are meeting, like online and stuff. and Rebecca here, she met this mysterious girl and she happened to be a ghost but she didn't know yet.
