I think this is a great idea, Lilac (er, Jessica)! I think it's such a great idea that I intend to make an effort to add more books to "my books" list. And we should all pester (okay, encourage) other MRers to come and do the same. I think it's really nice to see what others have or will be reading and this is a cool way to do it.

okay okay i give up ! here i am too (like i don't spend too much time online already...).
I've just created my account, so the book adding will be progressive and take a lot of time.
I'll warn everyone now....my book list is very boring. If I like an author, I read everything I can find. And these are just the books I've read since January 2008.
Hey, BD, there are no boring book lists - unless they're about cats. And I think it's a given that it will take time to add books to our lists and if it's a chore we won't bother. But I like seeing at a glance what other people are reading so I can ask a not-so-stupid question about them once in a while. So I'm going to give it a go.
I was able to import my book list from LibraryThing. Just trying to organize into bookshelves. LibraryThing uses tags.
I'm keeping the same bookshelves that come standard here, otherwise I think I'll get out of control...
I like organization. Kind of a freak about it.

I'm late and I know it. I just started and added about 150 or so titles. More later. So many books, so little time. Do you relize how much I could have read while I was adding these titles? OK, well I don't know either.Anyway it will be a good way to keep track of stuff.

When adding eBooks, do you make a new book entry or use the one that's already here for the paper edition?
I think it depends. You can make a separate shelf for ebooks, but when you add them you can look in "Other Editions" and look for the ebook version. It's usually in there.
I'm recording my books on additional shelves as well. Ultimately I want to be able to lookup a book and tell if it's in paper or eBook form.

Back in the early 1980s one of the first applictions I built for an Apple ][ and later for a PC was an inventory program for my Lp albums and reel-to-reel tapes. Before that I kept the tape index on 3"x5" cards.
Nelamvr6, do you or someone close to you use NLS services? I've never heard a mainstream person use DTB to refer to an audiobook before.
Ok, that makes sense. I'm just used to seeing DTB stand for "Digital Talking Book." "Talking Book" is the term that NLS has used since the 1930s to refer to audiobooks.

May read the second book in a few months and if I get the same reading experience then I won't bother with the rest of the series.
I've read just about everything by Lawhead. The Pendragon Cycle (Taliesin, Merlin, Arthur, Pendragon, Grail) were Ok the first time around, not so much the 2nd time I read them. I liked his Albion trilogy much better.
I was able to find all of the Pendragon Cycle books in pdf format at my library. I've read Taliesin and will probably read Merlin.
Merlin is still my favorite out of the series.

So if anyone's got any recommendat..."Parke Godwin has a couple of Robin Hood books- Sherwood and Robin and the King. It's more historical fiction than fantasy or swashbuckler.
I finally caved and created an account here. Thankfully I was able to import 347/350 of my LibraryThing books, the import engine said I had duplicates, it could be right. I was pleased that I was able to figure out how to retain my reviews, ratings, and tags/bookshelves... took some tweeking of the field names in the export file to match what the import engine wanted to see. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to move over here or maintain both book sites for a while.
What I am going to do is add in the edition I am reading if it doesn't exist that so I can know where I read it.
Good idea, after I made the last post I actually did go in and change the editions for some of the books that mean something to me. Like my Chronicles of Narnia books with the stylistic 1970's covers and original book order. :)
Ultimately I will change them to match and create eBook entries as well. Right now, I am just struggling to get them all entered. I'll correct details later.
I put all mine in way before I got my device, so most of my previous entries are books. I will correct as I read...or not. :)
There is so much fragmentation among the classic books I have/have read that I would go crazy (well, more than I am now) if I insisted on the right edition for each. I am happy to just get the correct content listed. Some of the Voltaire (as an example) was published by Patricia under the MobileRead Book Group.
BTW: anyone know the ISBN for the Harv & Vera book?
Hey! Just stumbled across you guys here! I've been using goodreads to keep track of my books because I keep forgetting what I've read (and end up getting books I've already read).
