Gage sat down on the branch he was at earlier and leaned against the trunk. He took off his backpack and pulled out a water bottle.

Gage nodded. "I made sure to be fast at the cornucopia," he answered, glancing at her.

Rain started to climb down the tree trying to escape.
Gage sighed and hung his backpack on a branch. He jumped down to a lower limb and then grabbed Rain's wrist. "I was surprised it took you this long," he said as he pulled knives from a strap on his leg.
Gage pulled her up on his branch and shoved her against the tree trunk. "Shut up," he hissed.

Gage clenched his jaw after his head was slapped to the side. He took in a deep breath and looked at Rain. He didn't want to kill her, but now was his chance. It would help him get into at least the top 5. He swallowed, not really knowing what to do after she said she was sorry.
Gage bit his lip a moment and then clutched his knives, three held tight between his knuckles. He drew his arm back. "I'm sorry..." he muttered before driving all three knives into Rain's stomach.
Despite how hard he tried to not let it happen, tears welled in Gage's eyes. It had been different at the cornucopia, he hadn't had time to think about it then. He slowly pulled the knives out of Rain's stomach.
Gage nodded lightly and whispered, "of course. I'm so, so sorry." He stood close, ready to catch Rain when she began to slump.

Gage took in a shaky breath and asked, "do you want me to leave you here?" He was willing to take her somewhere before she was gone.
Gage gave a short nod and picked Rain up carefully, moving higher into the tree.
Gage stopped at the highest point they could safely climb and laid her down on the branch carefully, letting her back rest against the trunk of the tree. He looked out at the view. The tree they were in was one of the highest in the arena.

Gage had moved to a branch next to her, making sure to stay out of Rain's view. He waited until her eyes closed and her chest stopped moving before getting up. He glanced at her one more time before he climbed down the tree. He grabbed his backpack on the way down, knowing that he had to get out of that area, mostly because he didn't want to be there anymore.
((Haha I was going for the dramatic!))
