Stela (stelona) | 15 comments Hi,

What can be done with a book without title, author or any other information? I tried contacting people that reviewed it (usually there are only a few) but they don't remember or don't answer.
In my opinion, they should be deleted.

On the other hand, the ASIN of this book

.goodreads.com/book/show/7104009-unkn...

sends to a Website. I think a superlibrarian should delete it.

Thank you

Stela (stelona) | 15 comments Thank you. How did you find it? I tried Google and it directed me to the adress of a medical site.

Banjomike | 5166 comments There is not much point in posting them here, or in any other thread. There are many thousands of these editions left over from the rush to remove the Amazon data before the deadline at the start of the year. They are slowly being repaired by librarians. Many of us adopt one of the "Unknown Authors" and work through their "Unknown Books" fixing what we can.

Stela (stelona) | 15 comments That's what I'm doing for "unknown author 10" - and I fixed quite a few. My question was whether a book that has no information at all (nothing!)can be repaired or it should be deleted. And if it can be repaired, is there a way I should know about?
But only if ça vaut la peine...

It didn't have no "information at all". There was an ASIN which suggested a Kindle edition of a book on wounds. The sole shelver had a fair number of medical books listed on her shelves which suggested that the link to the medical book was likely to be correct. A search for the likely book title on Goodreads pulled up another edition with the same author as suggested by the ASIN. Voilà, to continue the French theme. This was probably easier than many.

The problem at the moment is that there are a number of "John Jones" on Goodreads and the one-space person is collecting all the books. He needs tidying up.

Stela (stelona) | 15 comments I'm sorry, it seems we speak about two different things. Probably it's my fault, because I raised two different questions. I wasn't talking about the book with the ASIN that you restored (but the idea is good anyway, thanks, I didn't think to check the reviewer's shelves) I was talking about the other books (the 5 links above, and others) that really don't have any information.
As for the French bit, I live in Quebec, where everybody speaks Frenglish! :)

Banjomike | 5166 comments I did think we were still discussing the linked book. Never mind.

Sticking with the shelves route, the first book you link to is on someones "currently reading" so she should know title & author.

The third one is on this "psychology" bookshelf:

Lobstergirl Unknown books aren't being deleted, in case they might be recoverable somehow.
