I read a book about a few years ago and can't remember the name.
It was about a girl who was poor who lived with her father until his death. A wealthy neighbour comes by and takes her in (I think he was in love with the girls mother)The girls father hated the wealthy neighbour.
The wealthy man has an unmarried son and he falls in love with the girl. Something then happens and the son accuses her of something and begins to be quite mean to her. She goes on to tough times then the son finds out the truth and he still loves her and comes to find her.
I remember that I cried alot in this book too.
I think this story was set in the south and I thought the authors name may have been Brenda or Maureen. Or the surname may have been Jackson. I have searched so many book lists.
Does this storyline sound familiar to anyone? Can anyone make any suggestions. Thanks
