I really enjoyed how the white wolf was changed into her friend. At first i was confused but then when i realzied what had happened i found it reaally creative and i liked that twist in the story.

This is one of the best YA series I've read in a while. Excellent writing, fantastic character development...the plot is nearly flawless. I love this series...it's on par with The Hunger Games, Twilight and Divergent. If you like this series, you might also like the Grisha Trilogy. And also Graceling.
These books ARE amazing. The second book is certainly darker, more fraught with emotions and conflict than the first though. The first reads like a beautiful fairytale prologue to the disaster/war zone that is the second one. Both magnificently crafted, but nonetheless, very varied in tone.
I stumbled across Daughter of Smoke and Bone when it was a daily deal for the kindle and once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Although I enjoyed Days of Blood and Starlight I did struggle with it little in the middle. That said, I can't wait for the next one.

so beautifully tragic
I agree. I stumbled on the first one accidentally, and I was completely shocked that it hadn't popped onto my lists earlier. I REALLY liked the first 2 books. As someone else mentioned, 2nd book was a bit dark, but I thought that made it more 'real'; instead of everything playing out safe, it went to some dark places. For me that, along with the ethical/moral undertones changed the read from a 'good/entertaining' read to more of a literary work.
The first book was OK and I wanted to try the second one and could NOT get into it. I had to stop reading it. I wouldn't recommend this series.
I have NO IDEA y these books aren't on everyone's raider. I could not put either of them down. The 2nd was not as good as the 1st but u tend to see that w/ trilogies. Can't wait for the 3rd book.
Great books! I discovered them by accident, almost dismissed them, as I'm not a huge fan of the whole teenage paranormal fiction genre, but I'm happy that I gave them a go. Loved the style, the quirky characters were immensely likeable, and the story itself is far from naive. Looking forward to the third book!
I loved the entire series by far. Even if it's put in the YA section I have hardly met anyone maleor female that didn't LOVE them.
I may be in the minority here, but I liked the second one better than the first. It was dark and gloomy, but I thought that it added so much to the story. Looking forward to the third.
I love this series! And the Novella. The writing is amazing and I always recommend it whenever I have the chance :)
I just finished her another book Lips Touch and Night of Cake and Puppets and all her books are beautifully written, sensual, smart, unique, lyrical, she is wonderfull writer, I can't wait for a book 3!!!
I loved these books, but like many that have already posted, I thought the first book was the better of the two. I have preordered the third book and I am looking forward to reading it.
I loved these books! I can not wait for the third one! I'm super stoked! There's very few people who have read these books and they are fabulously done. The characters and the plot. These books are the only books I've ever read that bring up chimaera. Every other popular book mainly involves, humans, vampires, angels, werewolves or hunters of some kind. I love having something new to read about.

I wasn't impressed at all. It's not like book #1 if that's what you're hoping for.

I just don't think it will be what you're expecting. It certainly wasn't what I thought it was going to be. She ends up adding in a lot of previously unmentioned backstory and new characters and it felt like I was reading a prequel to a whole new series she was trying to launch instead of the finale of a series she already had. It was just confusing and too much extra stuff. Definitely not concentrating enough on Karou and Akiva like I wanted.
