Molly Why did they have to die?? I balled! The only reason I actually read the last book was because of the cliff-hanger on the 2nd book! :'( What do you people have to say about Prim and Finnick's death?

Ruth If they hadn't died the books would have been awful. It added a lot, although I cried my eyes out.

Dena McMurdie It wouldn't be realistic if everyone you loved made it out unscathed. Some good characters have to be sacrificed for the sake of the story. But I agree, it was sad. Especially Prim. After all, Katniss volunteered as tribute to save her life to begin with, and she still died. Very sad :'(

Katerina I loved the end of the second book, but some people had to die, and I don't Prim should've died though:( I didn't really care about Finnick though. One of the reasons that Mockingjay is my least favorite out of the three, is because Prim died:(

WASTE OF TIME! EVERYONE DIED! I CRIED TOO MUCH AND...oh the cap locks...

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

i loved it but gale is gonna need to die in the movie...

Jessica Crone I hated it, poor Annie as well! she just got Finnick back! what a stupid ending!!!!!!!!!

Agreed! I'm gonna start writing a fan-background of Annie and Finnick... They deserve to have some point to get a background story...Suzanne didn't give much of that to any of her characters other than her main and the others deserve to have some!

Molly I read something and it was like Finnick writing a letter to Katniss after he had died. This is what it said...
Dear Katniss,
I'm watching Prim for you! Just can you make sure Annie and my boy are fed and kept well? I miss you.
Your Truly,
Finnick
Tear:'(

Brandy I was very upset when I read that Finnick and Prim died but they did what they had to do for the rebellion. May they rest in peace

Molly Yep:)

Joe I liked that they died,I thought it brought realism to the story.

Amanda I was in tears when Finnick died! I LOVED HIM! I felt so bad for Annie and her baby boy! I was upset when Prim died, she was to young, along with many others obviously. I DON'T think they SHOULD HAVE DIED! THEY SHOULD STILL BE LIVING! ...and yet again I understand every reason why. Well RIP Finnick and Prim! We Love you and Miss you!

Shamma8 She killed Finnick in a sentence , no further explanation , it was horrible. And Prim !! I didn't even realize she died until later it was a blur ! The scene felt hazy to me . I think the ending was rushed honestly

BookHeroin Prim death was a shocker to me i stared at the book for like five minutes then i cried then i closed it and refused to read anymore until the next day. :(

Noble Stephenson My friends spoiled it for me but I was still surprised how she died. Luckily they didn't spoil that. Well not so lucky for Prim.

Kressel Housman I thought Prim's death was very poorly done. I also found it a blur, and Katniss' emotional reaction insufficient. I mean, this is the girl she sacrificed herself for! After two whole books agonizing over Peetah, we should have seen more of same over Prim.

It absolutely did.

Jenny I didnt want them to die.....

georgia Kressel wrote: "I thought Prim's death was very poorly done. I also found it a blur, and Katniss' emotional reaction insufficient. I mean, this is the girl she sacrificed herself for! After two whole books agonizi..."

yes! i totally agree with that

Laura I just couldn't be sad about Prim's death cause it happened so suddenly and then it was a new chapter and Katniss was in a different place...

message 22: by Erin (new) - rated it 3 stars

Erin I hated the lack of detail Finnick's death got. I read a few pages and said hey where's Finnick and went back and said... he's dead? what?! How did I miss that? Oh because he only got one sentence and it was a really confusing one at that.

message 23: by Luke (new) - rated it 5 stars

Luke D. also cinna died i think prim should died and not finnick

Toutoula Amanda wrote: "I was in tears when Finnick died! I LOVED HIM! I felt so bad for Annie and her baby boy! I was upset when Prim died, she was to young, along with many others obviously. I DON'T think they SHOULD HA..."

I agree... I really think that Finnick and Annie deserved to be together at the end...

All this "realism" stuff is nonsense. Truth is stranger than fiction guys, not everything must have collateral damage. Not even a final battle.

I read the third book only bacause of Finnick too... sad, sad

Gabby Batista This was just about the only thing that depressed me in this book. I had grown to love Finnick and I cried for a good fifteen minutes. At least his death wasn't super emotional. I wouldn't had been able to handle it.

message 28: by M (new) - rated it 5 stars

M Those parts killed me, but I guess it had to be done because the story wouldn't be that emotional in other case...
Oh what am I saying? I WANT THEM BACK!!
Finnick and Annie were just married and Prim was the one that Katniss sacrificed everything for... ;(

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Honestly, I thought that both their deaths brought a lot to the series that would have made Mockingjay unrealistic and terrible without. This is war. Not everyone comes out alive. For Katniss, it was a turning point when Prim died. It shows that Suzanne Collins is a good enough writer to get rid of characters when the storyline calls for it.

message 30: by Cat (new) - rated it 3 stars

Cat It was the meaning of the book. People were meant to die.

Andreea Prim: For the irony. Katniss had been through all that (the Hunger Games and the revolution) to protect her. In the end, she wasn't able to save her, and it was in vain (somehow). That, for a revolution to succed, there need to be sacrifices.

Finnick: I have no freaking idea -.-

Kenna Winters There's a saying "Kill your darlings". Meaning, your favorite characters and parts are often the readers favorite characters and parts. It brings out emotions that mean something.
But, yeah, I was sad when they died too :(
