Cody Myers | 5 comments I am new to 'Goodreads' and I am not sure how to get to the 'threads' to welcome myself to the group.. so this is the only other option I could find, I could have sent a message to 400 some people but I wouldn't want to make myself seem like a nuisance.

I am quite new to reading, brand new actually, I have only 11 books that I have read under my belt but you have to start somewhere I suppose. I don't know many good authors - I am open to any recommendations. I bounce all over the place and enjoy all genres of books so anything will do.

To whomever is reading this it is nice to meet you.

Cody

Hi Cody. I think you're off to a good start, based on your books. It looks like a good mix of old and new. I hope you enjoy Stephen King and J.D. Salinger. Just keep checking the posts to see what other people are reading and your TBR shelf will soon be overflowing, just like mine. Enjoy.

I do enjoy S. King, and J.D. Salinger.
King was difficult to follow at first because of his "unique" writing style, but after I got acquainted with his style I saw why he is one of the most successful writers.

I'll try to keep up to date with all of the posts for recommendations.

I am going to stop in at Barnes & Nobles tomorrow and try to get a good deal on Catcher and the Rye, Peter Pan, and a few others.

anything you would recommend?

Karena (karenafagan) Classics - wise: A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fritzgerald, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Night trilogy by Elie Wiesel and The Inferno by Dante.

Those are some of my favorites.

Cody> Some of my recommended favorites: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Lucky Jim, Crime and Punishment, The Maltese Falcon, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and The Name of the Rose.
Once you get a few more books under your belt and get a feel for the types of books you enjoy most, you'll get more specific recommendations tailored to you tastes.
