Apple juice or orange juice?

Are you a morning or night person?

Are you a collector of anything?

What is usually your first thought when you wake up?

What's your favorite color?

message 2: by Rhonda (last edited Feb 24, 2009 07:03PM) (new)

Rhonda (rhondak) I love orange juice: it's obligatory when you are in Florida and it's fresh from the trees.
I am a morning person who thought for a long time she was a night person. Now I have insomnia so it really is moot.
I collect (and drink occasionally) wine
My first thought in the morning? "I gotta go!"
I love purple, but adore pink.

message 3: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2537 comments Oj for me, too; still have a few oranges left on the tree. Sadly many of the orange orchards here in AZ are just left rotting away.

I am a true morning person as well but living in denial the last couple of years. It is not going well for me -- I am hoping to reform.

I used to collect cat figurines then gave that up for useful items with cats on them. Now I collect children's gift books and photos of murals (usually taken by me).

"I gotta go!" LOL, same as Rhonda although it's possible we are not speaking of the same thing.

Can't name just one, I love them equally: pink, blue and yellow.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Apple juice as I am allergic to orange juice.

Always been a night owl who no longer has to try to live in a lark world.

I used to collect lots of owls and also small animal figurines (think The Glass Menagerie). I now collect frogs and have 2 horny toads, one carved from bone! I collect seashells, silk flowers, arrowheads, coins, cranberry ware, china cups......a pack rat here, LOL! OH! forgot hats...have about 20 of those too.

OH< NO! I feel wretched! What was that dream? Do I need to go back to sleep? (I am on oxygen at night due to asthma/altitude) I live at 8,000 feet.

Lavender and I like the fragrance of lavender too.

message 5: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2537 comments LOL, yes, it is fun and too easy to collect. Your post reminded me that I have some shells & stones, too.

Lavender is wonderful! had a lovely hedge of when I lived on the east coast.

8,000 feet, indeed, more than 2 miles high! Why do you only need the oxygen at night? does it have something to do with laying down and not being upright?

message 6: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda (rhondak) It's interesting that airplanes are usually pressurized to about 8000 feet so you must have trouble if you fall asleep on a plane too.

BTW a mile is 5280 ft so 8000 feet is only a mile and a half.

I forgot: I collect sea shells too.

message 7: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2537 comments

BTW a mile is 5280 ft...
Oops, of course it is! must've been thinking of pounds in a ton, thanks for correcting me.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I can't go on planes anymore as jet fuel makes me deathly sick so no idea about that. I may have something to do with being an Air Force brat and living around runways and bases. But I also have something called Chemical Injury or Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). Also it is called EI as there are 50 EI Dr's in the US treating it. I got a fever in Japan as a child called Quanto Plain fever due to terrible pollution and it damaged my lungs which may be a factor. I am prone to "shut down" at night. Lots of my online friends are also on oxygen but my doctor says in my case it has something to do with the altitude. I live up here as the air is cleaner!!! I also "load iron" .....ever heard of hemochromatosis? I had never either until they told me I am Loading ferritin into my tissues! Its the most common genetic disease in the US!!!! If I remember right from Survival of the Sickest those who have this are immune to The Black Death!!!

message 9: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments Hello!

If forced to choose between apple juice or orange juice, I'll take orange, but I usually drink a cranberry blend.

I'm sort of a late-morning-to-afternoon person.

I collect an assortment of things, though none obsessively--bookmarks, postcards, quotes, bear-related items, rubber ducks, items connected to my favourite movies.

My first thought when I wake up on weekdays is usually something along the lines of "Morning already?! I'll just lie here a few more minutes..."

My favourite colours are garnet red and various shades of purple.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, Callista I also collect bookmarks and friends give them to me. In fact two friends in ABQ who also loved books gave me bookmarks. Right now I am using a leather one I got in Suffolk with a knight on it to mark my place in Daughter of York. It seems appropriate. I did some brass rubbings when I was there and this is like one with a knight from 1325 and he was: Sir John de Creke Westly Waterless Cambridgeshire. Generally tho I just grab any piece of paper to mark my place.

message 11: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments What a wonderful name that knight had!!! :)

message 12: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2537 comments I hadn't though of bookmarks although I do seem to be getting a collection of them, some bought and some given to me. And yet, I usually have that annoying thin receipt from the library marking my place.

Half-price books has many to choose from and at very low prices.

Quotes, too - I love 'em!

message 13: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments Since I don't want to lose my best fancy bookmarks, I use something disposable like a receipt if the book leaves the house with me. :)

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I took a very old cheap paperback with me on the trip but only read 2 pages. There were too many maps, etc to read so it was a waste even taking it. We got about 12 stamps in our National Parks Passport!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Orange juice for a night person.
I collect sheep, so Easter is one of my favorite seasons for that. And my first thought when I wake up is usually "oh no! not yet!"
My favorite color changes between red blue green orange, purple, and yellow. I just can't choose one.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm starting to get different things to use as bookmarks. I bought two at the convention I went to over Easter weekend, and I got three with Kana and Kanji on them complimentary when I got Kanji painted on my face there. 1st day black with the kanji for "journey" on it, 2nd day shocking pink with the kanji for "joy" on it, 3rd day red with the kanji for "serenity". I'm not sure what the bookmarks say. And then there are all the promotional and business cards that I'm going to use as bookmarks.

Maybe I'm just a packrat.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too! sounds wonderful! How nice that they handed those out. I have a Monarch butterfly "book mark" from one I went to.
Which reminds me I have to be sure I got my Knight bookmark out of Daughter of York which is overdue at the library.

message 18: by Karyn (new)

Karyn (honestbutevil) | 10 comments Apple juice - Like oranges as a fruit but not in anything else.
Night person - well, insomniac.
I used to collect pets, the living breathing ones when I lived at home on the farm, but now just collect grooming brushes and treats for my pretty pony.
My first thought is usually nicotine, must have nicotine.
My favourite colour is black.

message 19: by Vicky (new)

Vicky | 97 comments Orange juice but I do love pomergrante juice also ;Used to be a night person but changing careers has me up and out in the morning ; I collect art and works of art ; My first thought( boring )"What's it doing outside "; Favorite color, well in my paintings rite now is differnt hues of yellow ,trying to breathe life into it .

message 20: by Erin E (new)

Erin E (elizamc) Apple juice or orange juice?

♥ Apple to orange juice, I enjoy orange juice in limited doses, but I find it horribly acidic.

Are you a morning or night person?

♥ Morning, there is something soothing about a hot mocha and a good book as the sun rises. But it makes me so cranky in winter.

Are you a collector of anything?

♥ I don't think so...? I don't even collect shoes *gasp*

What is usually your first thought when you wake up?

♥ What will my kids (students) do to make me laugh outrageously today?

What's your favorite color?

♥ Green with Yellow and Blue a close follow up

message 21: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Metz Apple juice or orange juice? No juice

Are you a morning or night person? Night

Are you a collector of anything? Yes - I have a small collection of carnival and depression glass. I also collect old school books (mostly from the 50s).

What is usually your first thought when you wake up? Ouch usually - and then - what time is it?

What's your favorite color? Purple

message 22: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments Good for you, Erin, NOT collecting shoes! ;-) To paraphrase Parker from Leverage, "What is it with women and shoes?" (I go for comfort first.)

message 23: by Erin E (new)

Erin E (elizamc) I can't stand "girly shoes" they either make me sound like a heard of elephants or they're too pinchy...

message 24: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments I *know*! The toes get pinched or the heels get rubbed, and your entire body weight is concentrated on the balls of your feet and a tiny bit on your heels. UGH. And, you're right--the clop clop clopping sound people make when they wear them--what's so feminine about that?!

message 25: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Metz They'll probably do some billion dollar study and determine wearing those shoes has someone caused all kinds of ailments from bad backs to foot deformities and knee problems... all because of vanity.

Thankfully I'm too cheap. I just wear flats and sneakers most of the time. (don't tell anyone)

message 26: by Erin E (new)

Erin E (elizamc) LOL, Lee according to my chiropractor AND physio therapist, I can't wear flats unless I have arch support inserted. So all I am left with is Chaco sandals (my true love) hikers and runners! I love it, my quasi-husband hates it! lol

message 27: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments Some doctors have been telling women not to wear high heels for years, but a lot of people don't listen. And now they're higher than ever *and* have platforms!
I don't tend to find complete-flats that comfortable, either. I have a high arch and flats tend to pop off my foot when I walk.

message 28: by Erin E (new)

Erin E (elizamc) Callista wrote: "Some doctors have been telling women not to wear high heels for years, but a lot of people don't listen. And now they're higher than ever *and* have platforms!

I just got this ironic image of you "throwing a shoe" while walking! LOL. It would be something I would do!

message 29: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments Throwing a shoe--whinny! ;-)

message 30: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Metz lol

I have almost no arch at all which makes finding shoes a chore. All the "built in" arch supports kill my feet. I've sometimes resorted to tearing the bottoms out of the shoes and putting in the flat inserts to cushion the bottom of the shoes. It isn't perfect (or pretty) but as a last resort...

message 31: by Reggia (last edited Feb 07, 2011 09:21PM) (new)

Reggia | 2537 comments That is a different perspective as I hadn't thought of inserts being uncomfortable for anyone but now I am a little more educated (and sympathetic). Well, I am somewhat of a late bloomer because I've only just begun collecting shoes. Maybe it's from living here in AZ where one needs many sandals... Or maybe it's because I've worn sensible shoes for so long and now have to wear them to work as well. Nevertheless, I did buy a pair of high-heeled bootlike shoes a couple months ago. I love them (because they're cute!) but confess they are not as comfortable as I had hoped; however, they are a little better when I wear my inserts. I find "flats" very hard to wear as they tend to slip off my feet, too. A small heel with arch support feels better. But best is the barefoot weather soon to be here.

message 32: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments I confess to last year buying a pair of high-hourglass-heeled Mary Janes that were just too cute to resist. I haven't worn them much, though.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Apple juice or orange juice? Orange. I like the tang of citrus fruits. :)

Are you a morning or night person? Morning. I feel like I can get so much more accomplished if I'm up early.

Are you a collector of anything? Books. Teapots. Journals. Stones from places I have traveled.

What is usually your first thought when you wake up? "I better let the dogs out."

What's your favorite colour? Cerulean blue.

message 34: by Janelle (new)

Janelle (janelle5) | 756 comments I can't believe I've never noticed this thread before. Thanks Margaret for reviving it.
I prefer orange juice over apple juice, and evenings over mornings. I wish I was a morning person but it's just not how my body works.
I don't really collect anything, there's not enough room in my house.
When I wake in the morning my first thought is usually a wish for more sleep.
My favourite colour used to be blue, but I don't really have a favourite any longer. I just love colours, as long as they aren't garish or muted.

message 35: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne | 138 comments Ooo! I love answering questions!

Apple juice or orange juice? Both, but mostly orange juice.

Are you a morning or night person? Neither, I fluctuate depending on my schedule, but for the most part I like sleep.

Are you a collector of anything? Comic books and miniature glass figurines.

What is usually your first thought when you wake up? "What time is it? Do I have to get up yet?"

What's your favorite color? "Anything from Sky Blue to Navy Blue.

message 36: by Werner (last edited May 26, 2017 03:35PM) (new)

Werner | 2706 comments I like both orange and apple juice, but I probably choose the former to drink more often.
During the school year, I'm on the night shift at the college library where I work, and I'll have been there 25 years at the end of August; so my body is sort of acclimated to that.
Although I own a nice Indian arrowhead collection, it was mostly put together by my grandfather. I only inherited it, and have never added to it much.
Yvonne wrote: "What is usually your first thought when you wake up? "What time is it? Do I have to get up yet?" I'm with Yvonne; my watch is the first thing I look at as soon as I'm fully awake enough to do so.
It's impossible for me to pick one favorite color; they're all pretty!

message 37: by Nina (new)

Nina First thought in the morning/I am alive. I love Trader Joe's Sparkling Apple Juice. Favorite color blue/I collect tea cups especially one's from England. I like mugs too. And tea pots. And of course, tea. I have three albums full of greeting cards given to me over the past eighty years.

Are you a morning or night person? Morning. Usually up by 6 or earlier. Like to hear the birds.

Are you a collector of anything? Used to collect owl knickknacks. No longer.

What is usually your first thought when you wake up? Is it Saturday (meaning do I have to go to work today?)

Apple juice or orange juice?

Orange juice. Had a bad experience with hard cider once long ago.

Are you a morning or night person?

Both. Love early mornings before dawn, and late nights after a good day. Who needs sleep?

Are you a collector of anything?

Old books, matchbooks, and airline playing cards

What is usually your first thought when you wake up?

This morning, it was this question…

What's your favorite color?

Blue. Clear sky, clear lakes, and the color of an old truck I used to have.

message 42: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2537 comments Never get tired of the color blue, and it seems I should add "old books" to my collection habits. They are multiplying a bit faster than they are being read.
