Why do you hate Edward Cullen?

This is not to start a controversy, lol. I honestly want to know!

I have a review blog and I am currently writing an opinion piece on men in love stories, especially Paranormal/Urban Fantasy/YA.I’d like to add in opinions, thoughts from fans.

I’d like opinions on why you think fans of Twilight love certain characters despite certain actions. For example, Edward sneaking into Bella’s bedroom to watch her sleep, before they were even really friends or a couple. Or, when he takes the battery out of her car so she can’t see Jacob. (Or for Jacob fans when he kisses her without her permission)

First, would you accept that from a real life boyfriend? Do you think fans of the books would? If not, why do you think they accept it from Edward? Is it because he’s a character in a film/book? Is it, because the situation is unique?

I’d love your thoughts, feel free to drop a line in my ask box or just respond to this.

I hope this isn't too late; I didn't see this before. I would never never never never never date someone who snuck into my room and watched me sleep! That's just creepy!

And it's my choice to see who I want, so if my boyfriend took the battery out my car so I couldn't, then I'd dump him on the spot.

I think fans accept this behaviour because Bella doesn't seem to object to it. Bella being a 'role-model' (supposedly) and everything, twihards seem to accept her opinions as reasonable. Therefore when she doesn't seem to have a problem with the fact her boyfriend is creepy and overly possessive, twihards just go with it without thinking about it on a deeper level.

And no, I would not accept this behaviour. I don't accept it in a fictional character, let alone if it was a reality! ;P

That was an interesting post - your point comparing the male heroes of modern-day fiction with Mr Darcy pretty much sums up my feelings ;D
