Kristen | 1392 comments This challenge is to read manga with titles that start with all of the letters in the phrase "SNOW IS WONDERFUL". That's 15 manga. It can be any genre.

Post your goal and list for this challenge here so we can know what you're reading! Please edit your list rather than posting each time.

Finished!

NOTE: For Higurashi, I went with the literal translation, "When the Higurashi (cicadas) Cry," not the American "Higurashi: When they cry"
NOTE 2: "Bunny Drop" is "Usagi Drop" in Japanese.

I have a question.

Could I count "When the cicadas cry" as one of the Ws, even though the "official" english title is "Higurashi: When they cry"? (stupid American publishers having to mess up my challenge)

I know, right?! In my case it's the double volume publishing that's killing me. I can't say I really mind getting more at once, but so many of my series are doing the 2-in-1 thing I'm reading a lot more than it seems for all my manga challenges.

Yeah, sure. All of the different ways manga are published can make a title based challenge like this one a little confusing. Should you go with the English or Japanese titles? Just keep in mind if you are ever unsure if a manga should count or not that this is a challenge for you. If it's something that you think should be eligible, then go for it.

Check to see if the series that you are reading is in another format. For example, if the English version of the series is a 2-in-1, but the Japanese edition has the individual volumes, use those. We want you to get credit for all that you are reading. You can always take them off your bookshelves after the challenge is over.

Thanks for the clarifications Kristen!

Cool, my second pesky "W" is spoken for. :)

Okay. Some groups I've been in have been more picky than others, so I just wanted to double-check

When I needed an I, I went, "My library has a book starting with I... What was it?" And I stopped at the library, grabbed Inubaka, and read it. I didn't care for it very much.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

It was either that or InuYasha. However, my library has a limited selection of InuYasha volumes, and they're not in order. I don't think they have volume 1.

I had trouble with finding one for that too - ended up planning on ES: Eternal Sabbath, #1.

I'm going to read my "Elemental Gelade" manga. I really need to finish reading that one. XD

message 19: by Kristen (new)

Kristen | 1392 comments You could also try Emma, Volume 1 by Kaoru Mori .

message 20: by Mike (new)

Mike | 389 comments Came close. Will definitely finish up the three volumes I have left at some point. This was a fun challenge. Ended up trying a bunch of new series, most of which were pretty interesting.

Best I read for this were Eternal Sabbath and Line. Most disappointing was Dream Gold.
