Andrea (dre1133) | 5 comments Where did you get your inspiration for this series?

message 10: by Laura (new)

Laura Lee Wow, that's a tough one to answer, but I'll do my best. I've been a fan of anything paranormal for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I developed a special affection for anything Fae or vampire related, even more so when they were combined. The characters for Pixie Dust came to me long before the plot did. One of my biggest pet peeves as a reader is when character development is weak. I spent a lot of time thinking about their background and characteristics. Next came which writing style I would use. I chose a more modern approach because quite frankly, it comes naturally for me. Karli's voice mirrors my own quite well. (Yes, even the frequent usage of four letter words!) After settling on who I wanted them to be, my plot seemed to just fall into place. (with a speed bump or two here and there) I wrote for 36 hours straight several times because the ideas wouldn't stop pouring out of my brain! It was really important to me that each scene would represent the characters well and that you could relate to them. I guess you could say that this series is the culmination of everything I love about the supernatural, along with what I felt I was missing as a reader. Does that make sense at all?

Andrea (dre1133) | 5 comments Yes, it makes perfect sense. I think all the hard work paid off. The characters are very relatable. I feel the same way about vampires and any thing paranormal.

Laura Lee A girl after my own heart! =)
Thank you for the compliment. I planted a lot of seeds in book 1 about each character that will be revealed in book 2. Be prepared for a deeper look into their hearts and minds!

Laura Lee Welcome Brandy! I don't have an exact release date yet, but I'm shooting for year end. Have you had a chance to check out the preview posted on my blog? The Karli Lane series will have at least four books, possibly five.
