I liked some of the books more than others. Some of the sisters were just annoying lol.

Rebecca (Bec) | 56 comments From Reading the comments in this discussion It seems like the Dark books get better, and the female characters get a bit stronger, which is good to know. I have finished reading Dark Magic and am up to Dark Challenge. Dark Prince was good, Dark Desire okay, Dark Gold I actually liked! Dark Magic, about Gregori (the strongest Male Carpathian mentioned so far) I was really dissapointed and expected something more. "velvet" this... and "velvet" that and nothing really happening.. blah blah

I may take your advice Jess and read them over time to break them up a bit.

Jess | 3721 comments Rebecca, someone suggested it to me and I found it helpful. So I hope it also helps you out.

I'm only up to book 9? or something around there, and I've spaced them out so much that sometimes I have to try and remember or look at the description of the past book lol.

Rebecca (Bec) | 56 comments Okay.... am reading Dark Challenge. So far so good, much better than Dark Magic! The travelling band thing is doing it for me and Desari (the female heroine) is not so helpless as all the others! Still I haven't ordered the next one yet. Moving on to something else for a while.

message 57: by Whiteraven (new)

Whiteraven | 2 comments wow... I have to admit that I have been a Feehan fan from the first dark book I read and I now own every single book she has ever written and doubles of some! The Dark series is my favorite and I have read them so many times I have them memorized! *grins* I absolutely love her writing. I also really loved the Drake sisters, but the Ghostwalker series, while I do enjoy it, I have not found it as appealing as the Dark series.

Alisha (alishajones) | 1 comments I would like to throw something out there for everyone.....I was wondering if any of you the are into the ghostwalkers series also watch the series on TV Fringe? Because I have noticed alot of simmilarities between Lily in the First ghostwalker book and Olivia in the Firnge series.....both were "experimented" on as children and don't remember it by a crazyish scientist who thinks what he's doing or has done is for the better.....sorry but just had to throw that one out there for ya guys!

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments So I finally read something by Feehan. I read her Leopard people series, and I loved it! So what series do you recommend that I read next?

message 60: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (Smiley1881) | 159 comments The Carpathian Series was my favorite.

message 61: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (Smiley1881) | 159 comments Dark Prince (Carpathians, #1) by Christine Feehan is my all time favorite. I couldn't put it down.

Her Ghostwalkers series is my favorite. Shadow Game is the first book.

message 63: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Hmmm...so basically, all of her series are good? :) Are they all paranormal?

I'm only familiar with three:
Dark/Carpathian (vampire-themed), Ghostwalkers(physically and psychically enhanced soldiers)
and Leopard (shapeshiters).

She has another one called the Drake sisters (about witches).

message 65: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (Smiley1881) | 159 comments Yeah! I've read all her series and liked them all.

message 66: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (chelle90) | 3 comments I've read all of her series , also. I started reading the Carpathian series first. After I read several books in that series, any time I saw a new book by her I read it.Some books are better than others, but I can't think of a book by her that I have not finished & enjoyed reading.

message 67: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I have a feeling that I am going to end up racing through all of her books! Read the Leopard Series, and now I'm halfway through the first ghostwalker book. Really enjoying it, although it was a bit slow starting for me.

message 68: by Betelgeuze (new)

Betelgeuze | 158 comments Christine Feehan's Dark series was the the first PNR series i've ever read. At the time I thought they were pretty good. What did bother me was that especially in the earlier books the heroines were weak and didn't have much of a personality. In the later books this has improved somewhat. Jaxx, Destiny and Natalya especially are examples of strong women who refuse to let their men restrict their choices. The introduction of the overarching Xavier storyline also has made the series more interesting.

What I do notice is that Feehan (in the Dark series) is very repetitive in her writing. She often uses the same words, and some of the sentences are almost the same in different books.

The last book I have read is Dark Curse. My favourite so far is Dark Guardian. Lucian is the most respectfull and nice Carpathian imo, and Jaxx is probably the strongest of the female characters so far, although I also like Natalya. My least favourite book is Dark Magic. I absolutely loathe the rapist Gregori, and despise the fact that Savannah blames herself for the rape. In Dark Curse Gregori once again shows himself to be a misogynist by using arguments for restricting the rights of women that to me resemble those that Christians and Muslims use to oppress women.

Although the Dark series is mostly fun to read, based on this series I do not consider Feehan as good a writer as for example Sherrilyn Kenyon or Gena Showalter. I base this mostly on the repetitiveness of her writing and somewhat limited variation in the personality of her characters.

Kim Hathorn | 3 comments So, where exactly is the Carpathian series based? Are the Carpathians supposed to live in Romania? The actual Carpathian mountain range stretches through several countries from the Czech Republic to Serbia with the highest concentration in Romania, and there are several general references in Dark Prince to Romania(but not specific refs.) Are more historical references in later books (i.e interactions with historical characters, living in the past, etc.)? I'm reading the first book of the series now, and it's the only one I've read, as I'm both a Christine Feehan AND a PnR/UF newbie:-D!

message 70: by Jill (new)

Jill Hello I am a lover of Christine fee an. However I always foun d the Carpathian novels to be her worst. My favourites ( in order) would be her ghostwalker series ( love gator, he's my Cajun dreamboat) the leopard series( holy hell are these books hot!) And the drake sisters, the beginning ones not so much but the later ones, Jolie and illya( gotta love a sexy Russian) in particular are great. In my opinion way better than the dark books. It's not like I didn't give them a chance either, I read 15 of them before I decided I needed a break if i was to ever enjoy a Carpathian book again. They all became the same. My advice with Mrs fee an is to start with her ghostwalker books, I haven't found a weak one yet!!

It starts off in the Carpathian mountains, but then they start moving around the world. Survival is the name of the game, they are one searching for there mates. Oh and other things, but i will let you read about it.

message 72: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I think there really are Carpathian mountains in Romania. I've never been there but I've read about them in other books.

Yep your right they are real mountains ranges.

I only have one question does anybody know what her Dark Storm book will be about? I mean it comes out Nov/Dec of this year but I wonder which Carpathians will it feature?

message 74: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I just started the Drake series and I like it.

As for Dark Storm I think I heard September. I was reading about it on another thread and I think someone said it had two new characters. People were upset because I guess she still has old ones without their HEA?

Anyway the Dark series felt like like it was the same book over and over. Someday I will read a few more and see what I think.

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 91 comments The only author I know who can be 20+ books in and still keep me coming back is J.D. Robb and her In Death novels...I know I love me some Roarke & Eve!!!
