Yeah.... Because not only words can hurt you, looks can too. Especially if you're really good at seeing people's feelings through their eyes... Or if someone phisacally abuse you, that hurts, obviously... But, honestly, to me, verbaal abuse is the worst... Especially at school, everyone's screaming at each other, people are changing every minute, and you're just washed along in this sea... Whether you want to or not.

Well... I agree with you, and respect your decision as a mom, but if your daughter or son was like me, reading at a high school level in middle school, would you care? I know not everyone is mature enough for this, I barely am.... But it's a great book and it warns people about the danger of rumors and bullies... About what happens behind doors and in people's minds, so, I would let my child read this before high school. But I totally agree with you saying the cintent is a little too serious for a new teen....(:
I read this when I was about 12 or 13... and it was fine for me, but I think it depends on the child. It touches on subjects like rape and peeping toms but doesn't go into detail much. There's a little bit of cussing if I remember correctly. It's a pretty serious book.
If the child reading is used to reading stories like Percy Jackson or well, I don't really know what else.. Than I wouldn't recommend it. If she/he is used to reading stories like Crank than I think this would be a more appropriate book.

I read it when I was 12... And i am definitely used to books like this despite my age... But it totally made an impact on me too.... I actually stop and think now before I open my mouth and say some rude, seriously hurtful thing.... Though people still continue to fire words and phrases at me and each other, I usually don't get involved... Scenes from this book flash through my head when I hear such rude things

Ok you totally just summed everything I was feeling about this book right down to last detail! THANKS:)

No offense Cassidy, but I agree with Hannah. Butof course you can have your opinion. Ours are just completely different, and I odn't agree with you at all... It's kinda selfish, I have to admit. But we all do selfish things, so this book helped me learn to stop being like that and to think.

I would say no, not only because of the suicide tapes, but also because there is a thinly veiled rape seen, then another very thinly veiled sexual seen.

It would be okay for a 13 YO in my opinion, but it really depends on the 13 YO you are talking about. Some people handle books like this better than others. It does have some "content" and "situations" but if the person reading the book is mature then they can handle it.
