"Great! Yeah, soccer's one of my favorite sports. I play all the time." He smiled sweetly and ran over to get the ball. He placed it in the center of the field, then backed up to his goal. "Okay! Ready?" He looked over at her.

Anne looked at him and nodded as she spread her legs some and leaned down a little. She hoped she didn't make a fool of herself.

"Good! Go!" He raced towards the center and got the ball, dribbling it towards her goal. He did some fancy footwork to see if he was rusty, he hadn't played in a while, and smiled when he learned he hadn't. Wind blew his hair in all directions as he continued to run.

Anne watched him carefully and moved side to side as quickly as she could as she tried to block the goal to keep him from scoring.

He looked up at her and smiled. He then got as close as the rules allowed to her goal and licked his lips. Okay, okay. He swung his leg back and forth, kicking the ball with power. He looked on as it neared the goal...

Anne's eyes were on the ball, she didn't notice his smile, she was very competitive. She got it from her mom, she kept her hands out and moved back and forth with him carefully.

He watched as the ball landed in the goal. He smiled. "Okay, 1, 0." He kicked it gently around her, trying to let her steal the ball from him.

Anne frowned as he got a point, she told herself it was just a game and to have fun with it, a smile slowly slid across her face as she kicked the ball away from him and started toward the goal.

He grinned as she accepted his allowance for her to steal the ball. He watched her as she took off, you could tell she was good at the game. She had some sort of connection with the ball that made him smile. He ran after her, slowly, so she could get a point.

((Awwww <3))

Anne kicked the ball back and forth between her feet as she traveled across the field at a pretty rapid speed, a smile was on her face and you could tell by her stature that she was concentrating only on the game nothing else, the breeze blew some of her hair into her face but she quickly moved it out of the way with a hand as she went to kick the ball into the goal.

He grinned and stopped running. He put his hands on his knees and bent over, trying to ctach his breath, then looked up to see her nearing the goal. C'mon, Anne, c'mon... Ah, what was he thinking, she would get the goal.

He watched as she kicked the ball with great form and skill. She was amazing. Probably even better than him. He had never seen anyone kick a ball so skillfully. He smiled and watched as it landed in the goal with a swoosh. That was great. He started clapping, slowly, and jogged over. He smiled at her and placed a firm hand on her shoulder. "That was awesome, Anne. Seriously, really great. I've never seen anyone kick like that before. You're very skilled at the game, Anne, you know that, right?" He just stared at the ball in the goal, sitting there.

Anne walked out onto the field to see an array of people walking about. There were stands for different things scattered about, and some students were wearing colorful shirts they had bought from a vendor that read Gay pride on the front. She walked further in among the crowd, smiling at people here and there. Anne caught a glimpse of a short haired girl, she was very pretty, looked like a beautiful nymph. She was curious and tried to follow her.

BB was sprawled out on top of the bleachers, her long legs on display as she flicked through the personal record she'd pinched off McCloud's desk during their weekly consultation. It was hers of course but the contents seemed a little too soft for her liking, the old man had evidently been tampering with her less than studious documentation. She didn't mind him so much, when Jack wasn't talking about her progress, her choice in friends or her inability to behave for more than three days straight he was actually a pretty chill guy. BB chewed her lip, rolling the piercing between her teeth. The past few months had been a bit of a whirlwind, a few wild parties, one near arrest for drug possession and several fights with Cole had left her feeling a little dejected. A fresh bruise on her arm was the latest addition to what seemed to be an entourage of small scars or yellowing skin, he didn't mean it but when he got angry the boy sure did have a temper on him. BB wasn't currently talking to him because of it.

She’d recently made the acquaintance of Will Martin - much to McCloud’s delight and much less so to Will's father. Will was easily manipulated; another lost soul with an addictive personality who was constantly pining for his dead mama. Tragic. As of right now he was sat close by, smoking a joint with some concoction of drugs in it, trying to fit in with a crowd he simply didn't belong to. BB and Cole were the hell raisers, Will just tagged along for something to do. He was alright company though, better than most of the misfits who hung about under the bleachers during teaching time. That and BB could incessantly tease him about the fact he was still yet to lose his virginity. Her love life had been pretty slow as of late, though she was still playing cat and mouse with Cole part of her worried that he was losing sight of the chase. She wondered how long it’d be before he got bored and gave up. They hadn’t exactly done the deed yet. BB sighed and dropped the file next to her, stretching her slender arms above her head. Cole and her had never officiated their ‘relationship’ if they could even call it that; it was to put it simply an emotional rollercoaster of epic proportions. With a sigh BB sat up on the bench, her messy brown and pink curls falling around her shoulders. Will raised an eyebrow but didn't say a thing as he took another drag on the joint. Maybe she should drop Cole a text, see what he’d been up to the past few days. It couldn't hurt at least, their argument hadn't been that bad, BB just didn't like it when he got physical. After a moments deliberation BB pulled the phone from her pocket and sent a text to him.

Hey, look I'm sorry about earlier this week. It was my fault I shouldn't have snapped, if you're free later do you want to hang out or something? Xx

Cole had headphones in, and his iPod raging music as he flipped through his phone, erasing bad pictures, lingering on ones of himself and BB, she was the one person in his life that didn't tip toe or make fake smiles for him. She wasn't a suck up, or a snotty nose brat, she was just her, herself and nothing more. She wasn't afraid of anything really, she was willing to try everything once, and hell she was hot. He'd blown it though, he'd been losing his temper, putting his hands on her, acting like his damn father. What was wrong with him? Cole frowned, his mothers voice reached him over the music and he glanced out the window, they were at the beach house. Joy. He pushed open the door and stuffed his headphones into his pants pocket. He knew his mom would have everything planned already, so he headed straight for the kitchen, he opened the fridge door and grabbed a coke, then went to look for a place to hang out on the back porch. That was until his phone set off a ring tone that made his mouth dry, he put the coke down on a small table outside, sat in the beach chair and looked at the text from BB. He rose a brow, well that was surprising, he quickly texted her back, I'm at my families beach house for the day, possibly the night, you wanna come over? He hit send and then put the phone next to the drink. He pulled his shirt off, and sat back on the lounge chair, the sun hitting his bare torso and face, he had on board shorts, and flip flops as well. At least if they hung out here he could trust himself around her, he would never get violent in front of his mother, ever. Cole was still the bad boy, but he wanted to be the bad boy that treated those he loved right.

BB was just about to slump back on the bench when her phone buzzed, she eyed Cole's name with trepidation before a slight smile flitted across her face as she eyed the message. He'd missed her, she was certain of it and in spite of her grievances she'd missed him too. BB chewed her lip and let her eyes drift over the message once again, the beach house was going to be a pain, first she had to get there and secondly she had to be wearing some sort of beach ready attire. She got to her feet in one quick motion and shook out her hair. BB wasn't one of these rich kids whose parents pretty much threw car keys at their children, she'd only learnt to drive because her last family had insisted upon it. "Will I need your car," she snapped, turning to look at the boy who was now completely flaked on the bleachers. He grumbled some intelligible reply and rolling her eyes BB deftly lifted the keys from his bag beside him. "Don't do anymore, I'll see you around," she muttered, slinging her bag over her shoulder and heading towards her dorm room.

Darius Crider had sweat pouring off of him, there were rivulets dripping down the side of his face, his breath was coming hard and heavy as he ran around the track. He had been talked into joining, what a mistake that had been. It was keeping him busy with training for the first meet, school had just started back and there was no way that he was going to be second best. He had to be THE best, period. Darius had a thing about being on top, and staying ahead of everybody else. The summer had been noneventful, he'd spent it with his foster parents, they'd talked to him about being adopted... again. He still wasn't sure about it, he knew that it was something most foster kids dreamed about, but he wasn't one of the normal foster kids, so why should he react like one? Darius put on a burst of speed as his emotions started to rise up to the surface. At least this physical exertion was a good way of letting out his frustration instead of punching every preppy ass kid that got in his way. He was yet to see the one girl that had been on his mind all summer, he pushed those thoughts away, she'd probably forgotten all about him and had some fling over the summer, or maybe a real love life and found a boy that could give her stability and had no damage. Who the hell knows?

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments After a fast, uneventful summer in the States, Poppy Cohen came back home. Sure, she had fun with her old friends from D.C., but so much had happened while she was gone and no one really wanted to hear about the same stories that they were told via text or email months prior. Poppy had gotten her new schedule, unpacked into her room and said goodbye to her parents, then changed into an old graphic tee and cropped sweats for a quick jog. The girl was somewhat dreading seeing Darius, guilt pressing on her due to the fact that she hooked up with a couple of guys back home. It's not like it meant anything.

Poppy made her way out to the track, slipping in her headphones and playing some random collection of alt songs her friend wanted her to listen to. She began to run, not seeing Darius just yet.

Darius rounded a bend and kept on trekking, he had his iPod strapped to his upper left arm, and earbuds were in his ears playing The Script. It was finally starting to cool off, with Fall finally approaching, so Darius wasn't exactly melting, but he was sweating because of the running he'd been doing. He was temporarily distracted however when he saw a flash of legs, his eyes targeted a girl on the track, Poppy. Darius tripped up on his own feet and went face first onto the track. "Hell," He muttered as he stood up and dusted himself off. His eyes searched the track for Poppy once more, and found her quickly as she began running, damn she looked good. She had that summer glow about her, and he honestly itched to go pick her up and swing her around in circles like a love sick puppy. Instead he kept his cool and stayed rooted where he was, because Darius Crider had a reputation to uphold, even if he was now on the track team. Danny from Grease had been on track hadn't he? He thought he remembered that cool guy being on track, maybe not. Darius shook the thoughts away and waited for Poppy to round the bend, then she would see him, maybe.

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments The black-haired girl continued her jog, focusing on pace and the music. Some song (Little Secrets) by Passion Pit played in her ears, keeping her moving. Let this be our little secret, Poppy stopped, spotting Darius. No one needs to know we're feeling-- She continued, at a slower and less determined pace, until she was about a yard away. --higher and higher and higher, higher and higher and higher. Poppy pulled the headphones out of her ears, crossing her arms. "It's been a while, huh?" The girl remarked, gauging his reaction.

Darius watched as Poppy slowed down as she finally caught sight of him, he gave her a head nod as she asked if it had been a while. "Yeah you could say that," He answered her with a neutral tone, not wanting to stir up any unnecessary waters. "How was your summer?" He asked her with a casual grace that only he could pull off. Darius edged a bit closer and peered down at the girl that was in front of him, "Fuck it," He muttered more to himself than to her, just before he closed the distance between the two of them and pulled her into his arms, he hugged her tightly and buried his face against her shoulder, inhaling her unique scent. He didn't care about the past right then, they could hash it out later, right then he just wanted to feel her arms wrap around his neck and to continue feeling her body close to his.

The girl melted into his embrace, wrapping her arms around him, all words she had lost and forgotten. "I missed you," she murmured into his shoulder, laughing softly.

Darius almost sagged with relief when he felt Poppy's arms wrap around him and she seemed to melt into him. Her laughter sent a happy zing through him and he looked down at the top of her head as they stood there on the track just holding one another like one of those sappy couples you saw in the movies. Darius, for once, through caution to the wind and didn't care about what others thought for once. "I missed you too Pops," He replied in a voice laced with a longing in it, a longing for her. She'd left a big black void when she'd left for the summer, and it was now full again with her in his arms. "Didn't mean to cut you off there," He said with a bit of amusement in his voice, "I just couldn't stand another minute of not holding you."

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments Poppy heard a runner jog past them, wolf whistling as he did so. She blushed and scowled simultaneously. The girl wasn't embarrassed, and probably would've ran after the douche, had he not taken off to spontaneously practice his sprinting. "I missed you a lot. "I really really missed being around you."

Darius brought his face away from Poppy long enough to give the passerby a glaring look that would scare the hell out of any person, maybe even his sister BB. He then turned back to the girl that was in his arms, she was turning pink, he tried to hold back a grin. She started to say something, but worry entered her features and she paused, her eyes searched his for something. Exactly what, well he couldn't be sure. He wondered what she had been up to over the summer and what had happened to make her have that look that made his stomach a little uneasy. Not that he had any expectations from her. They hadn't really made their relationship concrete or anything before the summer, and that was mostly his fault. He was trying to deny their attraction and everything else during that time, even though he was falling for her. He'd had the whole summer to think it over and to decide that he was going to give them a chance. Or try to at least. Darius had a lot of issues he was going to have to try and overcome during that time. But he was kind of nervous to talk to her about so soon, so he decided to put it off until he could make her a nice dinner and sweet talk her the way she deserved, not on a field where they both were sweating and not at their best. "Ditto," He replied to her proclamation. "Maybe we could catch up? In a little bit? After I get changed and showered and all that stuff," He grinned, "I'm not exactly sexy right now."

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments (( Sorry for the short replies, btw!))

Poppy swallowed, masking the guilt with a forced smile. "You've never looked sexier." She managed, laughing as well. The air was brisk, a slight breeze making her shiver a bit. Pop cleared her throat and pulled away. "How about we go change, meet up with some others, then go grab a bite to eat? I'm sure others want to see us before school officially starts." The black-haired girl turned her music off and started walking over to the lockers. "That is, if you want to."

Darius didn't agree with her saying that he looked better than ever, but he was going to say that out loud. All too soon Poppy was pulling out of his embrace and walking toward the small buildings on the side of the field. "Yeah that sounds good, I'll just go get showered and meet you after in the parking lot?" He agreed with her and walked beside her until they reached the boys locker rooms. "See you soon," He said as a farewell, Darius kissed her passionately before he left her side and entered the boys locker room. He went straight to the showers where he peeled off his sweaty clothes and got soaped up. Once he smelled like a guy again and not like swine he went to his locker and got dressed. He pulled on a plain white tee shirt, a pair of dark jeans, black timberland boots, and his leather jacket. His hair was messy and wet, only adding to his bad boy look. Darius shoved his dirty gym clothes into his locker and then went to the parking lot to wait on Poppy, he leaned against his yellow Camaro as he waited.

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments "Sounds great," Poppy replied breezily, getting over her guilt. It's fine. He doesn't have to know and if he does, it's not like it matters anymore. "See you in.. ten--" She was again cut off, making a small surprised noise as he pressed his lips to hers. The kiss lasted for a few moments and she bit his lower lip softly as they pulled away. "See you in ten." Pop entered the girls' locker room, going toward her bag and pulling out basic toiletries. She showered quickly, relishing the warm water.

The girl toweled off, wrapped her hair in another small towel and started to get dressed, throwing on a pair of dark skinny jeans and a long-sleeved, knit maroon sweater. She pushed up the sleeves, slipping on a leather wrap bracelet. Poppy bent over and towel dried her hair, working a small amount of product in so it wouldn't just lie flat. Then came makeup, with a small dab of concealer here and there, some eyeliner (that she screwed up because she accidentally hit a hand drier, making her jump) which she smudged, then mascara and the slightest hint of blush. She slid on plain, black Converse and shook her hair one last time, slinging her bag over her shoulder and walking out and into the parking lot.

Darius pulled out a pack of gum, he took a piece out and put it in his mouth. He was doing his best to stop smoking, whether it would pan out or not was yet to be seen. He doubted that it would truly last that long, but he had to try. His foster parents had shown him a three hour documentary about smoking and the effects it had on your lungs and body, and the people around you. It had definitely been a wakeup call of sorts for the young renegade. He figured he was still safe smoking pot, it wasn't like it had any bad effects, right? He hoped to hell not, because that was one of the things that helped him go to sleep at night. Darius glanced up when he heard foot steps, Poppy was done in the lockers and was heading his way, she looked good. "Hey there," He said with a long whistle, meant to compliment her. "You ready to hit the town baby girl?" He asked her and went around the car to open the door for her.

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments Poppy looked him up and down and smiled, a faint blush rising onto her cheeks. "You don't look so bad yourself." She climbed into the car, squeezing his hand when he shut the door and got in after her. "And I'm so ready. Where do you want to go to eat?" Pop said as she not-so-gently threw her bag into the back seat. "I'm fine with whatever." It was colder than she had expected, so Poppy rolled down her sweater sleeves, covering up a tattoo she forgot she had gotten. It was a small one, three stars, each the size of her pinky, on her wrist. Her father wasn't exactly thrilled that she had gotten it, but he didn't make any plans for her to get it removed, so she kept the technically illegal stars.

Darius walked around the car and climbed into the drivers seat, he closed the door and made the engine roar to life. There were a lot of upgrades done to the car, he could street race it if he chose to, and he liked having that as an option. He put it in gear and pushed the clutch, then eased on the gas as they took off. He glanced over to Poppy, she was pulling her sleeves to her sweater down, and he got sight of a tattoo. Damn, she really was going bad girl, "Nice ink." He said with a smirk, Darius shifted gears as he made his way down the hill that the school sat on. "I was thinking we could go to that pub in town? I remember them having the best burgers, I mean if you're cool with that." He looked back at the road, but still stole glances now and then to look at Poppy, damn he'd missed her more than he'd ever admit to. He was more than happy to have her in his car and taking her out to eat with him. He hoped that his sister didn't have any objections, hell he wasn't sure if she'd even come to terms with him being her brother yet.

I don't remember how I got it but I'm not necessarily disappointed." Poppy was telling the truth-- she had no idea how she got the tattoo.. maybe it was the one night that she got so wasted that she passed out? Probably. "A pub sounds great. Always good food there, too." The girl nudged him softly, but didn't look over at him, eyes glued to the landscape. "Whatcha thinking about, Crider?"

She didn't remember how she got it? Darius had nights like that a lot, but he didn't think his girlfriend did. What the hell had happened to her over the summer? Had she turned into some bad girl in the course of three months? Or was she just being downright reckless? There was no easy way to ask such a question so he didn't, he figured he could do his own investigative work later and see what had really happened over Poppy's summer. "I was just thinking that it will be nice to have you lounging around my dorm once again," He replied, it was a lie sure, but he was an expert at those, and this one was only a little white lie. Darius glanced her way and leaned in to kiss her cheek, he kissed it swiftly and then returned his eyes to the road, that's when it happened. A huge produce truck was just over the next rise and Darius didn't have enough time to break, the truck was sideways in the road, no matter what Darius did he was going to wreck, there was fence on either side of the road. He did his best to swerve and break and keep them from taking on huge damage. The moment felt like hours but in reality was only seconds, the crunch of metal hitting metal was undeniable, the car flipped twice, and rolled onto the other side of the truck, landing on the passengers side. Darkness invaded Darius' vision as the impact took its toll on him, he shook his head trying to clear it. Flashes of images came to him at first, there was screaming, but he wasn't sure from who or where, broken glass, road, seatbelt keeping him in place, steering wheel all jacked up. "Poppy," He breathed out, just that took effort, the seatbelt was pressing against his bruised ribs, he had to figure out how to get out of the car and to get her out too. Fuel. Fuel leaked, so did oil, he had to hurry. Darius blinked several time, his vision slowly cleared and he became more aware of his surroundings, Poppy was halfway through the window on her side, no seat belt holding her in place. Blood was everywhere, coming from her he assumed, because he didn't feel like he was pouring blood, it smeared the windshield and car, and his girlfriend wasn't moving, Darius fiddled with his seatbelt, "POPPY!" He screamed.

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments There was a small, awkward, tense silence before Poppy's boyfriend replied and she couldn't help but bite her lip. "Yeah, it'll be nice to have random makeout sessions with roomates walking in, huh?" The girl joked, looking at him as he kissed her. "I'm definitely looking forward to that." She leaned in to kiss him back, no restraint from the seatbelt. Her lips barely ghosted over his skin when she felt the impact hit.

The truck hit her side first, causing the car to flip. Glass embedded itself in her skin and so did metal, smoldering shards that bit into her flesh. Poppy didn't have time to scream, her head colliding first with the car's edge and then with one of the barriers, her torso limply hanging out of the window. Everything went black, and the girl went unconscious. Blood matted down her hair, and mingled with the maroon sweater that once was in one piece.

The man that had the truck turned sideways in the middle of the road started running towards the car that had flipped several times and landed on its side. His heart was beating frantically and words of prayer for the people inside were coming out of his mouth in harsh whispers. It was his fault that it had happened, his truck had died halfway through him turning it around, he should have gone down the road to turn around in a parking lot or driveway, instead he'd been an idiot and done it in the seemingly empty road. Now there was a car overturned up ahead of him with possibly dead people inside, and that would be on him, no matter what. He slid around to the front of the car where he could see inside through the windshield, he saw a boy being held in by his seatbelt, he was frantically trying to get out of it, his arms were reaching down. That was when he saw the girl, blood matted her forehead, streaks of the red goo were along her clothing and arms, her eyes were closed, but it looked like she was breathing. He went for the boy, to help him out first, then the two of them could get the girl out together, he ignored the protests the boy threw at him as he helped him with the seatbelt.

Darius was filled with anxiety, guilt, anger, and other high strung emotions, he couldn't get to Poppy to check on her. The stupid belt was jammed and no matter what he did he couldn't climb out of the damn thing, it was locked in. Darius started cursing under his breath as he tried to lean forward to reach Poppy, it was no use, he couldn't get to her. They were going to die because of a stupid seatbelt, fucking wonderful. That was when he heard the crunch of boots on the asphalt, he glanced up to see an odd looking man peering in at him through the shattered windshield, he told Darius that he was going to help him get out. "No, help her. I'm not worth it, just save her, get her the hell out of here before this whole place erupts," He told the man, to no avail. Darius kept telling him to leave him be, but he wasn't listening, after a few minutes he managed to get the seatbelt to unclick. Darius slid down to the ground, ignoring the glass, he crawled over to Poppy and put her head in his lap. He ran his fingers over her smooth cheek down to her neck so he could check her pulse, she still had a heartbeat. Thank God. Darius picked her up in his arms and started walking away from the wreckage, the man was at his back yelling that he was going to hurt both him and Poppy more by moving around, that he should stay still because help was on the way. Darius kept walking, ignoring the man, he would walk his happy ass all the way to the hospital if that's what it took, he would not just sit around and do nothing. He was five minutes down the road when blaring sirens could be heard and he saw the flashing lights coming his way. A sigh of relief burst out of him, the ambulance stopped next to him and got a stretcher out for Poppy. A second ambulance pulled up and the EMT's tried to pull Darius over to their truck. he refused, he told them he was going to ride with Poppy, his wounds were minimal and meant nothing. They tried once again to force him into the other vehicle, Darius ended up punching one EMT, and hitting the other one with rocks until they finally agreed that he could ride with Poppy. He climbed in, he sat next to her side and took her hand in his hand, the doors to the ambulance closed, they were on their way.

She was aware of everything, of the blood streaming down her face and body and the odd angles she was turned at.. but it wasn't her. It couldn't have been her, she didn't feel it at all. This must be a different person. I can't actually be-- no, I'm not dead. Am I sleeping? Did I pass out?

Her limp body was taken up into Darius' arms and she didn't move a muscle. When she was lain down in the ambulance, hooked up to machines she couldn't even begin to understand, she didn't open her eyes. When Darius punched an EMT and clambered into the seat beside her gurney, she didn't say hello.

When he squeezed her hand, she didn't squeeze back.

The ride to the hospital was a short one, probably since the driver, a middle-aged female, didn't waste any time at lights or behind slow drivers. Poppy's breathing was slow and steady, even as they drew her blood (something she couldn't bear to watch), and slipped in a saline drip. Poppy internally was dazed but screaming, pounding against the windows keeping her out of the here and now. She wanted to rip out the tubes, wanted to hug Darius and never let go, and tell him how much she loved him, how she never went a day without thinking about him... but she didn't. She couldn't.

Darius held onto Poppy's hand all the way to the hospital, once they arrived he stuck by her side as they wheeled her inside. There was chaos indoors, just like any emergency room, and Darius had to duck and weave just like the nurses that took over the wheeling of the stretcher. Once they reached a pair of double doors Darius was asked to back away and let them do their job, Darius didn't take that very well. His eyes widened, and they were bloodshot from everything that had just happened. He looked pleadingly at the doctor but she just shook her head silently at him and motioned for him to wait.

What choice did he have? Darius kissed Poppy's cold, pale cheek one last time before he watched them take her to God knows where to do God knew what. Darius shoved his hands into his pockets and turned away from the room, he thought that maybe he would go sit in the waiting room or something, but he was all of a sudden bombarded with nurses of his own and escorted to a room where they asked him to remove his clothes and to put a medical gown on. Darius numbly went through the motions of changing once they left the room, he removed everything but his boxers, they sure as hell were not getting those. Darius waited as they came back in, he was examined and told he had a few lacerations and bumps and bruises, a nurse came in and began extracting glass from his skin. Darius didn't feel a thing, his thoughts were only for Poppy and whatever pain she might be enduring.

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments The girl wished she could speak to Darius, to tell him that she was alright... but even if she was and even if she was conscious she'd be lying. Poppy was nearly certain that she had broken something, if not many somethings, and her prolonged unconsciousness had to be alarming. It seemed like only seconds passed before she was being lifted onto a sterile bed on wheels, a new IV dripping into her, blood staining the starched white sheets a dark crimson. Darius's hand was gone, and all warmth or comfort she had vanished.

Distantly, Poppy could hear voices, frantic and stentorian, giving commands regarding what to do with her. She was rolled into the OR, a mask going over her face to pump in oxygen and nitrous oxide, and immediately was stripped. Poppy inwardly cringed, even though her body showed no signs of her discomfort. She had a large gash running along her side, gushing blood, another on her thigh, slicing through a femoral artery, and several along her collarbone and face, primarily ones above her eye and on her cheek. Scrapes were all over, as were scratches and ugly yellow-purple bruises. A fracture in her skull showed just how hard she had hit the car's edge, and the doctors feared brain damage.

An hour passed and most of the bleeding was stopped. Poppy was given blood from a O negative donor, since they weren't sure what type she was, and her pallor went from a dangerously pale yellow to a more moderate tone, closer to what she normally was like. Another half-hour revealed a broken collarbone, two broken ribs and a small hairline crack in her shoulder. They said she was lucky to still be alive, and that she could've faced paralysis or death if she had broken any vertebrae. Poppy was given test after scan after test and more, revealing her comatose state. After this the girl was moved into the intensive care unit of the hospital, breathing with help from a respirator.

A doctor came out into the waiting room, searching for the boy that came in with her patient. She asked around and learned that he was in a room, then briskly found it, knocking quickly. The doctor didn't wait for a reply, opening the door. "Ah... Mr. Crider? You can see her now. She's in ICU, and we really should only be allowing immediate family, but she isn't on record here, so we don't have any contact information. Do you have any phone numbers I should call, or an address, or something?"

(( Literally just wikipedia-ed that entire para like lmfaooo freshman bio didn't help me at all... also should we cont. in the hospital?))

(Hey that's alright, you should see some of the things I search >_< )

Darius watched as small bandages were littered across his body, the young nurse was cute, and kept giving him flirty eyes. If he had been in any other situation he might have taken advantage of the situation and played off his injuries to be far worse than they were just to get more of her attention. But he wasn't really in a situation to even comment to her when she talked to him, he just watched in silence while she bandaged him up, waiting to be able to go see Poppy. The door opened, making him and the nurse slightly jump, a doctor walked in and said that Poppy was ready for him to go see her. Darius didn't waste any time he jumped off of the bed and went for the door, the nurse called for him to come back, saying she needed to finish bandaging him up. Darius pointedly ignored her and followed the Dr. to Poppy's room, he was wearing his hospital gown still, and just his boxers underneath, the back was fully open, Darius didn't even give a damn. She led him through a few of doors that whooshed open before they reached the intensive care center. She led him into a room that was all Poppy's, it was rather large with curtains, a bathroom, a couch that folded out to a bed(the doctor informed him), a tv set that was off, and a small dresser. Poppy laid on the bed with all kinds of things hooked into her, Darius' stomach sank as he just stared at Poppy, he was broken out of the trance when the Dr repeated her question on contact information. "The school would have it, I-I.... I don't know..." He shrugged helplessly and gave her his information instead so that she could call the school and look up Poppy's information.

ɯɐɔ (camalama) | 1192 comments Poppy was still, the only movement being the forced inhalations and exhalations of her lungs. She appeared as though she was sleeping, placid and calm. Her dark hair was still matted to her forehead, although most of the cuts on her face were either stitched or taped together, creating some semblance of what she looked like. A tube was taped under her nose, feeding her air, and an IV was stuck in the crook of her elbow. Pop was confused, though-- it was as though she could speak and listen and breathe and sing and dance and move, but her body wouldn't respong-- couldn't respond.

At the sound of the door opening, Poppy wanted to lift her head. Darius was there, he was so close and she was stuck in a lifeless body. The doctor checked Poppy's vitals on a screen, double-checking to make sure everything was alright, or at least stable. She turned to Darius. "School? Which school, Dar-- ah. The Capitol Academy." The doctor was quite familiar with Capitol, and of the amounts of students coming in with alcohol poisoning after ingesting copious amounts of vodka, wine, and beer. "I'll call them right away. In the meantime, though.." Her voice softened a touch. "Poppy is rated a three on the Glasgow Coma Scale. She has no recorded movements, verbal noises or opening of her eyes. While she hasn't flatlined in brain activity she isn't responsive to any stimuli, so trying to wake her up may not work." Poppy wanted to cry and scream, to say that she was alive and breathing and awake. The doctor continued. "But there have been many cases in which the patient can comprehend the stimuli, despite their bodies denying the fact. So keep in mind that she can probably hear what you'll say, and possibly even remember it later." With that the doctor exited the room, walking over to a nurse at the check in desk. "If you could phone the Capitol Academy, and tell them we have Poppy Cohen here with a coma rating a three on the GCS, and for them to phone her parents immediately, that would be fantastic."
