This series is enjoyable, to me anyway
This series is adult and somewhat steamy, but it has a brand of humor that is rather polarizing. I would recommend reading a sample on Amazon. If you love the first few pages, you'll love the series.
... I didn't see this on your list, and it has a great ensemble cast, the first two books focus on werewolves. I personally love the series.
You enjoyed The Hunger Games and Divergent... so you may like this. It's adult (racy) PNR meets Dystopian. I've only read book one, but I really enjoyed it.
Since you like Kate Daniels, I recommend checking out
. It's like Kate were the romance starts out very, very little and builds. Also two of the characters has this push/pull thing going on. Heavy on the fae, but not as 'bad-a$$' as Kate.
Oh, and since you liked Fever series- an Indy author worth checking out (very similar in tone to Fever series)
Oi oi oi!Thanks all of you guys =)
Stumbled across nalini singh's books before just never really checked them out - definitely gonna try out guild hunter - sound like something I'd enjoy.
psy-changeling & midnight breed have different characters in every book, yes? :D (coz there are darn a lot!)
and bitten and crimson sound awesome! :o
I think I'm gonna snatch my reader and go buy Bitten right now and start with that <.<
I hate how hard it is to find "the next book". My expectations always seem to grow so its hard for me to find books on my own that I think will match those :P
Definitely way better to hear others input :) thanks!
This is a great series. Very funny with endearing characters. It is lighter on the romance but still worth the read.I second the Charley Davidson series it is amazing!!
Also a great series, more romance than some and a great plot too.
This one is also a great series. There is somewhat a love triangle in the first book, but just barely. If you like ghosts this one is fabulous!
I know I have a million more but I am drawing a blank right now for some reason. I have a ton of YAs I could recommend too if you want any from that genre?
oh... another unusual series... I'm on the fence about book #1 still, but many of my friends RAVE about the series
Alex Craft seems like a lady I would love :DI checked out Unholy Ghosts before, but never dared to start it. While the books after #1 get rather good ratings some of the reviews of the #1 book are quite negative...
I don't mind if characters or relationships take longer to develop - I am patient :D
it just cant bore me xD
Unholy Ghosts didn't bore me... I was caught up in the world... it's just super dark, like the nasty underbelly of a weird urban fantasy society with drugs and pimps (essentially) and there are some really descriptive sections. Kinda made me squirm. but I can totally understand being hesitant. I still intend to finish the series... but just not right now. Or tomorrow.
@alana - uh I actually dont mind darker, scary worlds! (just cant read them at night if I plan on sleeping!) prolly gonna give unholy ghosts a try after bitten and guild hunter. thanks!uhh, dee! thanks! sounds like those books musta been addicting! mead is certainly a great author. I like her writing - I just didnt like rose in the vamire academy. Is the protagonist in these books any good?
I totally forgot about Succubus Blues- LOVE that series.Although the main 'hero' is more of an anti-hero... kinda geeky, scrawny author. Not alpha. But I ADORE that series, but then again I also liked her Vampire Academy novels. Adult series (hello- succubus?) but very sweet, too. Kinda surprising to have a succubus romance/love story
Im gonna finish Vampire Academy at some point. just coz I am stubborn and I want to know whether rose ends up with dimitri. but there will be a few month in between each book, and only when I am in the mood :Pha yea succubus hardly fits a YA novel :P might be a good read tho :o never read about a succubus before. most pnr are kinda the same - a lot of vampires or angels... so this might be very refreshing :o
Oh btw... I checked out following books at some point (coz of the werewolf genre) but I am really not sure whether they are worth trying out...has any of you read any of these?
Nightshade had some really mixed reviews, either totally loving or hating it...
Destiny Binds really liked the plot summary, but smells like love triangle to me. I dont mind love triangles, but if they are resolved badly I just get pissed off =/
Prince of Wolves

I read book 1 for Nightshade... it was good, liked it. Not great. But I haven't continued the series because I hear Book 3 blows
I hear good things about Prince of Wolves, but haven't read it myself. And if you like Werewolves, and want more adult- a light, funny 'feel good' read is
Not great literature, but fun and flirty

I see :P gonna chose careful then whether I am gonna read it or not.
nothing worse than having a bad ending to a series =/ that can totally leave me in a bad mood for weeks :o (I know Im a freak)

HAHA thats a great title :P
sometimes light literature is nice tho when one needs an easy laugh while cuddling on the sofa with a tea and nasty rain outside...
Also, YA, but not bad- I even bought book 2 (but not read it)
Also:
(free on Smashwords)
...and the Sookie Stackhouse series:
If you want a funny, light PNR I recommend the Jane Jameson books. They are so much fun and I adore them! There are currently four and one spinoff (which was just as much fun):
Uh I am so skeptical about the sookie stackhouse series :o coz well I watched true blood on television, which I have a rather love-hate relationship with. Are the books better? or well for that matter are they worth reading tho I have seen the tv show? :>
Jani, the TV show bears little resemblance to the books, especially after the second season. They moved in a completely different direction and now really only have character names in common. So if you want to read them, just keep them separate in your head and it'll be fine. :)ETA: Sorry about the misspelling of your name. Autocorrect changed it.
I love Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen series. This is the first book.
Have you tried Kresley Cole?
Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter is good also.
Karen Chance has two very good connected series. Cassie Palmer
and Midnight's Daughter.
I liked Vampire Academy... really I did. But I have to admit, I was Team Adrian. Love those bad boys!
And I forgot about Full Moon Rising... it's QUITE steamy... like borderline porno at times. I hear just book one is like that because she's in her 'special' were-cycle.
I have heard a lot of good things about Immortals after dark :oI actually checked out Riley Jensen earlier today :o But I read in some review that the female protagonist is somewhat not very likeable (something with stringing several guys along? Idk, didnt check that well up on it - so actually I should just shush xD)
I think Im gonna have to run by the library on monday and hope they have loads of the books you guys have suggested (again thanks a lot, really appreciate it)
and then see what book I deem worth buying :D
Shari Kay wrote: "Jani wrote: "@shari: you just scared me out of ever finishing vampire academy :P"I'm sorry! I'm like you though...I'm still steamed about her Dark Swan series...I can't even talk about it withou..."
hahahaha.
Yea I totally know what you mean...
But its worse when books leave you feeling empty :o I had that with mockingjay. Like, its a good book and all, realistic and I see why the author finished the story like this... but I spent at least a month after that getting rid of that odd feeling mockingjay had left behind :S
Alana ~ The Book Pimp wrote: "I liked Vampire Academy... really I did. But I have to admit, I was Team Adrian. Love those bad boys!"Adrian is totally yum. gotta agree. but from the get go I have had the feeling rose aint gonna end up with him but will end up with dimitri instead :S which means theres gonna be heartbreak and what not.
(kinda why I sometimes really hate love triangles...)
Immortals After Dark is good, but I like Lords of the Underworld better. Just personal preference. :)
Athena-Nadine wrote: "Immortals After Dark is good, but I like Lords of the Underworld better. Just personal preference. :)"I think I might share your opinion :o I do like vampires but I totally love greek mythology :o (+ I tend to get tired of too many vampire stories, coz they appear so often in the pnr genre)
is another good series. The last book in the series comes out in December. Each book is a different couple.
is a funny series. Each book is a different couple. This series is what I call "fluff".
Alana ~ The Book Pimp wrote: "I hear good things about Prince of Wolves, but haven't read it myself. And if you like Werewolves, and want more adult- a light, funny 'feel good' read is [bookcover:How to Flirt with a Naked Were..."
I love Molly Harper's books. Great fun.
Don't forget the Shelly Laurensten books and of course C L wilson's series.
None of these are dark - just great fun.
Read Iced!!! Moning is my absolute favorite author. Dani annoyed me too I. The fever series, but definitely grows on you in Iced. You meet more of The Nine, and read Christian and Kat's POV. And I promise you, you will love Ryodan. ( and I am all about Barrons too), no other alpha male is like him, but Ryo is getting close.... And Lor. ; )Also- read JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. It's a must. Enjoy!
Jani wrote: "I actually checked out Riley Jensen earlier today :o But I read in some review that the female protagonist is somewhat not very likeable (something with stringing several guys along? Idk, didnt check that well up on it - so actually I should just shush xD)"Well, she leads men on because she is like a james bond girl super spy. She is a werewolf and in the world Keri Arthur built the species is sexually free until they find their mate. I found it refreshing for a herione to not be so wrapped up into a guy. She makes them work for it. It's also more Urban Fantasy than PNR so fidelity rules don't apply. Think more Trinity in the Matrix versus Bella in Twilight.

I am mostly looking for paranormal romance books (but open to other suggestions).
I prefer books with well defined worlds and intriguing plots. A good love story is the most important, but if there's no action and it's all about unreasonable teenage drama I get bored veerrrryyy fast.
I am not that picky about what paranormal creatures the book should be about. Angels, vampires, fairy folk, ... I dig them all :P - mostly.
I do have a thing for werewolves/shapeshifters but that ain't a must.
Paranormal romance books I have read:
<3<3<3 The Fever Series (LOVED this so much; great world, great plot, barrons is still my absolute favorite book boyfriend :D, and mac was an acceptable protagonist - Oh btw, I havn't read Iced, and I am not sure if I should. I HATED dani in the original fever books)
<3<3<3 The Kate Daniels Series (Really enjoyed these, laughed so much, kate is my absolute favorite heroine, curran was hot but not my favorite)
<3<3<3 The Lux Series (ones of my absolute favorites, loved everything about it, read both novels in one sessions coz I couldn't put them down)
<3<3 The Mercedes Thompson Series (Loved mercy, thought the plots were okay, didn't think the love story was that great)
<3<3 The Alpha & Omega Series (liked this one too, charles and anna were so cute, gotta say tho so much unnecessary drama :P)
<3<3 The Moral Instruments & The Infernal Devices Series (Loved the former, liked the latter)
<3 The Unearthly Series (I like most of it, but didn't care that much for the love triangle)
+ The Significance Series (Loved the first book, didn't like the rest)
+ The Premonition Series (Loved the first book, got kinda bored of the second and stopped after 2 chapters - should give it another try maybe?)
+ The Tale of Lunarmorte Series (thought the first book was decent, but then the second book got me bored - didn't like jaedens pov)
- The Chicagoland Vampires Series (Eh, wanted to like this book, but I got bored after having read half - the main character didn't do it for me)
- The Vampire Academy Series (read the first two books, they were okay, but then the third lost my interest)
- The Night Huntress Series (read the first book and most of the second - didn't do it for me)
- The Hush Hush Series (meh was decent I guess, but wouldn't read it again; so weak protagonist, so weak plot, so cheesy love story)
- The wolves of Mercy Falls (Loved the start but got bored towards the end of book 1, didn't bother finishing it)
- Covenant Series (read first half of the first book, got bored (my thought: I read this already (vampire academy)) and didn't read on)
- The Archers of Avalon Series (urgh, read all books coz I was stubborn, hated the protagonist, the plot, the love story, basically everything but tristan o.o)
Non paranormal romance books I loved:
<3<3<3 The Hunger Games (Obviously)
<3<3<3 Divergent (Another 'obviously')
- Easy (So great!)
- Slammed && Point of retreat (awesome)
- Pushing the limits (decent)
- Perfect Chemistry (okay, but meh plot)
- Breathing (liked it)
I have spent hours searching for new books but been rather unsuccessful. Must say I am very skeptical, and a book really needs to sound good for me to start it. So I thought it might be better to ask others for what they loved.
I would prefer pnr series suggestions but I'd also read any good stand alone novel =)
I prefer more adult written books, but I don't mind YA.
Really hope you can help me =)
