Joe I am reading this book, about halfway done, and I am really enjoying it. Any opinions on the book?

Maria Hi, I just finished so if you wanna chat just send me a message! I have a TON of thoughts, but I don't want to ruin anything by accidentally spoiling something!

Outpost was better than I thought it would be and I'm content with the ending except for the whatever-you-want-to-call-it going on between Deuce and Fade. I WANT THEM TOGETHER RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I love Tegan and don't hate stalker as much as I once had.

Clide S It's funny the only thing people have to discuss about this book is about relationships between the main group, which of course I thought was brilliantly written out and executed.

Ann Aguirre painted a picture just fine enough for every setting so that there would be an excellent picture of what was happening around the main characters that really varies from person to person as to how exactly they imagine it, especially when it comes to character descriptions. Which as well was quality work.

I don't exactly remember how Ann described Fade but through this entire book I envisioned him as Sasuke from Naruto xD
I mean come on, if you've watched the series, you must agree the description and personality align quite well!

As for the relationships

Deuce = Fade
Teagon = Stalker

Excellent read and cheers to Ann Aguirre!! I really enjoyed this and please put your heart and soul into the next! I'm so hooked on this series!

-I might re-read it from book 1....-

(Minor Spoilers)
This is has been discussed many times in this book, Stalker clearly changed drastically since his old life living as a ganger which in itself are not good circumstances at all to be brought up in and ANYONE that has been brought up in such way will take those actions. Also, Stalker in a way saved Teagon from dying on their trip up north before they found Salvation due to his hunting, and carrying Teagon through it all.

Stalker has shown time and time again he is a good guy and has given up his old ways. Now I'm not really "Rooting" for them to become a "thing" or to start dating eachother, I'm just saying if it would be anyway I personally would want the relationships to go like that, but honestly I doubt the two would have any sort of relationship due to Stalkers undying devotion and love towards Deuce.

(Big Spoiler)
Also, don't forget the part where Stalker goes on a suicide mission along with Deuce to rescue Fade from the Freak captors in which he faces great danger many times, and from the beginning he knew what he was getting himself into. Good guy Stalker is.

Zoe and the Edge I don't want Stalker and Teagan to end up together. I just want them to be good friends. I'm done with judging Stalker. He's pretty noble in Outpost, IMHO.

Ann Aguirre You allege that -my- POV is represented in Enclave. You write, "That’s what Aguirre said."

No. That's what DEUCE said. You've conflated the POV of a 15 year old girl raised in a tunnel in a terrible, dystopian society with my thoughts. The two can never be remotely the same.

While it would've been nice if she could offer an enlightened, sympathetic response, it would not be authentic. She's grown up in a survival of the fittest society; she respects strength, and she has to learn that there other kinds, such as the intense personal fortitude displayed by Tegan. What happened to Tegan is inexplicable to her because she's been raised in a society that decides who breeds, who with, and she's been convinced that's OKAY. So the idea somebody would fight their "job" so to speak is completely incomprehensible to her. She comes to moral realizations over the course of the trilogy and that's part of her character arc. I understand that your responses are different from hers. They should be. Mine are too. But I wasn't raised in a tunnel. :)

Addressing the next point, I don't find Stalker sexy. I feel sorry for him. He had a wretched life of privation and abuse. With him, I'm exploring the idea of nature versus nurture, whether people are born bad or if environment makes them that way, and whether there's any possibility for redemption. Obviously, you feel the answer is no, and that's your right. That said, I feel sorry for Tegan, too. The victim is -never- to blame. With her, I'm exploring alternate strengths, not physical, but emotional. She has an indomitable spirit.

But -my- responses have no place in the books, which aren't about me.

Carry on.

I wanted to add that, the way I understand it, Stalker never really raped anyone.
He definitely didn't rape Tegan, I remember that very clearly. And I thought in Outpost he told Deuce that the other girls in his gang all grew up in the gangs knowing and accepting it was their job to breed. They didn't fight it. I'm not saying that I condone this in any way but keeping in mind the world they grew up in, did he really rape anyone? He didn't have to force the girls in his gang.
Or did I miss something?

Being a psychology major, I have actually come to REALLY like Stalker. Looking at it as a nature vs nurture point of view, it is extremely interesting to see him grow in some ways and have new outlooks on a past that was so wired into his brain. I also feel very sorry for Stalker. Having a drastic change in your way of life and how you SHOULD think has got to be a very hard change to make. I'm not saying he's completely innocent however, i did a thesis on children and teens who have committed violent crimes (rape and murder) and there is a reoccurring pattern in their past. In the first book I was not a fan of Stalker but seeing him in Outpost, I've developed a bit of a place in my heart for him.
Thanks so much for such an intriguing, interesting, thought provoking, and awesome series!

Best Wishes
Bri!

Agreed! I wouldn't think that Tegan and Stalker could have a successful and healthy relationship (beyond friendship) looking at their past. However, i find it wonderful that Tegan can have such forgiveness and that Stalker can look at himself and decide to make a change.

Vee Gretzinger Love this book! I like how Deuce is independent and strong. a lot of books the girls are weak. i like the change. plus i love Fade!!! he's just so...ahhh i love him.

Nason Yeah Fades awesome. Everyone hates on him because hes all withdrawn, but trauma does that... Hes got a lot going on. Not really sure why everyones upset either because when Deuce went to say goodbye their conversation led me to believe they would eventually be better. Fade is my favorite character in the book and i can understand his situation. As far as stalker. I wanted them to kill him in book 1. In outpost i really like him aside from the fact he keeps trying to make a move on Deuce. Maybe he and Tegan have a chance, probably not. All i know is Deuce and Fade have to get back, and quick or they won't preform as well. I think what they need most is just to slit some freak throats back to back again. Great book, excited for Horde.

I love these books!! Deuce and Fade really do need to end up together. They were so close for awhile! I am done hating Stalker though, he is so much better in this one. But his and Tegan no. I mean they can be friends but to her he is probably just reminds her of bad times, even though he never did anything to her himself.
