\0/ We have the best group!!
Hey guys!! My name is Brandon Harvey and I am brand new to this group but it interested me because, being a gay male, I enjoy thoughtful discussions with other members and advocates of the LGBT community.
I am young (only 23) but have nearly completed my first book, titled the Anti-Norm, which follows the life of an aspiring metal musician as he struggles with drugs and, apt for this group, his sexual deviancy as a gay man. I want to start reaching out to people interested in this genre (though I wouldn't say my book is specifically LGBT literature) so I can build a readership once I decide to try and publish it. I am also open to discussing anything else involving LGBT literature and culture, as well reading and discussing other people's work as well. If anyone is interested please don't hesitate to reach out.
Can't wait to "meet" everyone.

Have a look around - check out the buddy reads, books of the month (posting shortly), free short stories in "Tales Told" and more. I'll be interested in your book (I released an adult one about a gay transgender metal musician, and my metal musician gay kid told me I left the drugs out of it too much... :) )
Sooooo, I was all excited for when we hit 4,000 members.Got busy, looked around today and we're at
4185
Wow. A hundred new members in the last week or so. I wonder what we did right LOL (Probably popped up on a blog somewhere.)
Anyway, welcome to all the new members. I hope you have fun with us.
Corey wrote: "You're the featured group on the group page, You're past 7k now. ;)"It says that on your profile but in our actual members we are still A little over 4000. I'm not quite sure why the two numbers don't gel. I'm going to go check my own profile to see if it says over 7000 on mine as well.
So weird. On my profile the group does indeed claim to have over 7000 but our actual number is a little over 4000. Who can figure?
Sammy Goode wrote: "So weird. On my profile the group does indeed claim to have over 7000 but our actual number is a little over 4000. Who can figure?"The numbers got messed up when the group got accidentally deleted - when that happened and they brought us back, our old count got added to the new count, but only on group pages. I asked them to fix it, multiple times, but they didn't - either couldn't figure out how, or didn't bother - so I've just let it go... Last thing we need is for them to try to delete the duplicate number and delete us again LOL.
Corey's right, though. We're featured, which explains the increase in new members. The last time we also had a bit of a spike. Well, thank you to whatever algorithm popped us up on the featured list. :D

And now over 4500. Wow. We're still featured and it's cool on the welcome thread to see new younger members from around the world <3

I've been on Goodreads for five months now, this was one of the first groups I joined. And it's still my favorite. Wonderful members, mods, and discussions. Hope it continues to grow!

Boy, we blasted past 4600 members and are now over 4700! So fun to see people discovering the group - I hope we'll provide everyone with books, discussions, writing and news links to suit them. :)

Optimism much? (That would be cool. We're already 4 times as big as when I joined.)
It seems being featured has given us quite a growth burst. Kaje, what does it mean to be "featured"? Who decides which groups are featured? Just curious.
Jason wrote: "It seems being featured has given us quite a growth burst. Kaje, what does it mean to be "featured"? Who decides which groups are featured? Just curious."If you go to the "Groups" page on your header list, on the top left are the groups you are in. On the right are a list of "featured" groups being promoted by Goodreads... for some reason. Their info says "Our editorial staff handpicks the groups highlighted in the Featured Groups category. If you'd like to suggest that your group be considered for inclusion in the Featured Groups, you can nominate it in this official discussion thread. (link)
Please note that private groups and groups that have been featured before are not eligible. "
Which is clearly not quite true, since we've been featured before. I haven't gone looking - don't know if someone nominated us (thank you, to them, if so). In the past, the featured groups rotated frequently. I wonder if that rotation has slipped through the cracks of the big makeover - if so it's to our gain and that of the other few groups that have been on the featured list for several weeks now.
How is it that it has us listed as having 7,853 members? I thought it was 4700?*edited: never mind, i saw your earlier post explaining what happened with the mismatched numbers, weird.
Yeah - the group disappearing was weird (and very scary for all the groups it happened to - think of all the stories vanished - do keep your own copies.) And then when it came back, the member listing was odd, but I was NOT going to make them fix something irrelevant. Their fixes have not been trustworthy...
So... I have no idea what a self-inking stamp could have in common with us..., but we have exactly 4916 members right now... so why not?
Lazy really - I could assemble it from lovely individual numbers of 4-9-1-6... or google and see what pops up LOL. <3 It's fun though.
And we have crossed the 5000 member line - should have had a party, but we'll just celebrate by keeping on doing the good stuff we do here.
