UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Based on what I saw at the muster drill, as soon as the captain gave order to abadon ship, the alchies would rush down to the bar for one last drink, then jump overboard so they wouldn't get wet when the ship went down. LOL My biggest fear is that they'd be so blotto'd that others would end up dying because the drunk ones got in the way.

This is my 2nd cruise and this one was soooooooooooo much better than the first. The Captain told us that the week before my cruise, there was a storm in Puerto Vallarta and the ship had to skip that port. Then coming out of Cabo, he said the waves were so high, water was hitting the bridge. That was incredible because that is one HUGE ship (Carnival Splendor) and the bridge, as with most cruise ships, is waaaaaaaaaaaay up there.

We did see a Hammerhead shark and some sea turtles, but the most amazing thing was hundreds of dolphins swimming along both sides of the ship early one morning. They were jumping so far out of the water. It was beautiful! We were going in the opposite direction of the pod so it didn't last nearly long enough.

I'm so ready to go again. This time, Alaska!

Renee (rjmiller) I've heard the Alaskan cruises are amazing. I hope you bring your camera. The whole ice thing kind of makes that idea worse for me. But you have fun.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I've heard they are amazing as well. I am very limited in what I can do, on a cruise ship especially. So I would get a balcony room where I could just sit and enjoy the view.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they didn't enjoy that cruise.

Wendy (wendyswore) Dear Um,

I miss your writing. Please send more. It keeps me sane to have good reading to read during these crappy farming months- did I say crappy? I meant, uh... crappy. Anyway I would love to read some more.

You, madam, are talented and wonderful. Don't leave me hanging!

ps. isn't it fun to say Madam, I like it.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Hi there.

I haven't been getting update notifications, again. I just thought no one loved me anymore.

I've been too busy being depressed to get much writing done, Wendy. Bits here and there, but I have a hard time separating my characters' emotions from my own. Some days I almost kill off the whole list of characters to save them the grief of romantic relationships.

Maybe, rather than marriage, they should just all live together in sinful bliss.

I miss you too, Dee. Tell those contractors to get busy and get you back online.

Hey, nice eggs, Tink!! They look very festive!

message 911: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyswore) If I didn't have my mom reading my stuff I might write some stuff like that- but she's already freaking out a little about the arsonist thing so, I'll lay off the whole relations part all together.

It's nice to see you posting though. Depression sucks.

Hugs to you.

Gives UM a huge hug. Oh and Edward sends you some sparkle.

I fully understand what it means to be in a funk. Every day since they started the house demo I have had at least one nervous-break-down. I keep wondering why am I so sad...I know that others have it worse than I do...but the tears still fall.

I think you are on the right track...write your feelings into your characters. It is a great way to work through emotional times.

Gentle huges to you dear friend...things will look up tomorrow :]

I promise!

Hey UM,

How goes your summer? Can you believe that August is here already.

This is the first summer that I can recall, that I can hardly wait for fall.

No builders, or electricians, or plumbers, or excavators over the weekend. No pounding, no grinding, no cigarette butts on the lawn, no cursing, now over-loud heavy metal songs glaring from the upstairs boom box.

I LOVE weekends! Going to try and get a ton of writing done today, as my Internet connection appears to be stable. Time Warner (my cable company) is coming out this coming Thursday to connect cable to the upper story.

So far I have broken down in tears at least four out of five days of the working week. I can hardly wait for October.

How goes your summer? Have you been able to get additional chapters written? How goes your storyline? Remember breaks in writing are sometimes a good thing, as they give your characters time to “breathe and grow.” However, never give up on your story. You are an amazing writer. The world needs your words :]

Wishing you a most peaceful weekend, filled with tons of time to yourself for writing and relaxing.

Huge hugs,
Dee Marie & Edward

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Hi everyone. I'm here. For some reason I don't get updates very often telling me there are posts. I just popped in to add a recipe in the Healthy Recipes folder and decided to clean up...dust, vacume, etc.

My state of mind, due to things at home, is not condusive to writing Simon's and Maggie's tale, and finally last week I decided that rather than sit stagnant, I would start writing something that allows me to vent those feelings of frustration, hurt and emptiness, so one Miss Clarissa is allowing me to tell her story.

I'm sorry, Dee. It's the best I can do right now.

I'm glad construction is moving along...I can relate, remember? Before you know it, it will be done and you'll have something amazing to show for it! And I promise, as time goes on, weeks, months...you'll start to forget the miserable days and be so thankful you did this.

Hey UM

I am delighted that you are writing again. It does not matter if it is Simon and Maggie's tale or something new. The main thing is that you are writing :]

As to construction...I am sure I will enjoy the new elf castle when the walls and floors are in...until that time...well...you know the drill :]

Wishing you a most wonderful upcoming week...if you do not cheer up I will have to send you my six young construction guys to your house...{insert waaaaaaay evil grin}

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I wouldn't use that as incentive to cheer up...it might be more of a deterant...the cheering up will come AFTER said construction guys get here :)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Thanks, Teresa! I just felt that I had to do SOMETHING, ya know?

And I hope everyone enjoys the recipes. It's always fun to find a new yummy something :)

message 927: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Hey, I often leave a story aside because I am not able to write anything. I have several going at once because of that reason. The main thing is you're writing, what it is doesn't matter. Sometimes your mood doesn't match the story you are working on, it' good to have another outlet.

My updates have been wonky too. There have been days when I get one or two yet I check my homepage and see that people have been very busy.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Renee wrote: "Hey, I often leave a story aside because I am not able to write anything. I have several going at once because of that reason. The main thing is you're writing, what it is doesn't matter. Sometimes..."

I find the writing helps not only distract me, but it provides a way to vent the negative feelings. I tried waiting until my head cleared to continue with story #1, but after far too long of not writing, and "things" here not getting any better, I decided to give myself a new voice, a new outlet.

I hadn't gotten updates for this forum in days, maybe even over a week or more. I've never had a lot of chatter going on in here, other than when I was away on vacation (LOL) so I wasn't too concerned. But when I checked I saw there were several.

message 929: by Paul (new)

Paul We can chatter here if you like UM. I'll have to refresh myself on the lols and yays and XDs and lmaos and rofls and so on, but I'm sure I can do it. I'll get everyone else to help, and then you can have several hunded posts an hour! It will almost become a full time job just keeping up with them. Bet we could bring the Goodreads server down again :)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Oh, I don't mind if there's no chatter. I was just explaining why I wasn't concerned when I wasn't getting notices.

And I have to say, it's getting really annoying to not be able to get on GoodReads... and now to find out it's YOUR fault, Paul? Shame, shame on you.

message 931: by Paul (new)

Paul hangs his head and grins sheepishly
Aww, shucks...

message 932: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) you've been doing this Paul? I have been having trouble getting through and it's been you? Jeepers, and here I was blaming technology.

message 933: by Paul (new)

Paul Hey, it's not my fault I type and post so fast the damn thing can't keep up with me.

Seriously though, I spent 15 minutes yesterday, typing a long post in response to something, somewhere (I forget) only to find that the server was down for hardware upgrade when it came time to post my comment. Lost the whole thing.

Pain.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Several times today I was unable to log in. It just kept hanging and hanging and hanging.... what a pain.

Gwendolyn (drgwen) Hi UM;

Long time no talk to. I hope things are getting better for you.

Paul wrote: "I spent 15 minutes yesterday, typing a long post in response to something, somewhere (I forge..."

You're not alone. I had a nice long comment written, tired to post and bang... Thankfully, the last thing I did before hitting 'post' was to make a copy of it.

It was worthwhile enough that I turned it into a blog post.

There is a lesson in this somewhere... There must be.

Anyway...

I'm not sure just what they're doing... but something they updated over the weekend before (8-9 Aug) was not working, because the whole 'system' has been sluggish until they either backed it out or fixed the fix yesterday.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Hello! I've been busy trying to take care of family issues and working on getting a computer program up and running. I have been doing a little writing on my "edgy" piece, but I'm not comfortable getting feedback from the family because it's so... edgy. LOL

And no, I'm not yet willing to share. LOL

Hugs to you both, Tink and Wendy lady!

Thanks for the hug, I needed that :)

And thanks for the corn.... it's the best!

message 941: by Paul (new)

Paul Welcome back UM. Like Wendy said, when you're ready to share - we lik edgy. We like dark. If it's dark and edgy, even better.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Thanks, Paul. I'll keep that in mind...dark, edgy...brutal.

Good Morning dear friend,

I have missed you bunches. Not a day goes by that I have not thought of you and hope that you are doing well.

I am back online after a long, long summer of "Construction Hell."

Looking forward to getting together with you and wishing you the very best.

Huge hugs,
Dee Marie & Edward

Wooo Wooo...it is oh so close to Nov. hehe ... I can hardly wait for the New Moon to come out ;]

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Morning, Dee.

I've missed you as well, and I'm so happy that the construction is over...well, at least the "hell" part of it.

Is it everything you've hoped it would be?

Hugs

Hey UM,

The upper story is beautiful. I have a ton of (before and after) photos, just need to get them posted to the web.

Right now we are tying up the little things...like getting the toliets installed. Our "wonderful" construction team decided at the last minute that they were not going to complete either of our bathrooms. Which really sucks :]

I guess that is why the first letters in Construction spell CON. As on Con Man.

But, it shall all be over within the next two weeks. I can hardly wait to begin the move from the Hobbit house to the Elf castle.

What have you been up to this summer? Has your Internet connection settled down? I look forward to getting back into our normal routine of writing this fall. Like I said, I am missing you bunches :]

Huge hugs
Me

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish How exciting to have your "new" home for the holidays!

It stinks about the construction workers. Remember when I told you that my grandparents had the back of their house opened up to extend it out, started during the summer and it was still covered in plastic at Christmas. My dad got on the phone and threatened the construction company with a lawsuit if it wasn't done within... whatever time frame he gave them. It got done.

Internet connection... I don't think I've had a problem, if I have it is fixed. Oh, come to think of it, Verizon did send me a new power cord for the router/modem and it's much better now.

I haven't been as motivated as I would like to be, regarding writing. I've had plenty of great people offering to read for me, so that's not the problem. It's me. But I'm watching the stories unfold in my mind, know where they will go, but getting it on paper is not so easy.

I look forward to your return to us. Your encouragment has always been a driving force for me.

Hugs and Love to you, Sweet Dee.

Well you know you are always welcome to send me anything to read...However...I WANT you to write...which is far more important than having anyone read :]

Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year? It is a great way to get the old writing gears moving :]

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Don't know what NaNoWriMo is. Should I look it up on the CDC's website? ;)

NaNoWriMo is the event of the year. You commit to write 50,000 words in the month of November.

This will be my third year, and it is very intense, but it also gets your creative juices flowing.

Here is the URL: http://www.nanowrimo.org/

If you have any questions, do not hestitate to ask...it's lots of fun :]

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Thanks, I'll check it out. Do we actually have to share what we write? *shudders*
