Not to encourage cannibalism but they always called my sister a tart. Not sure if they meant the same thing...
I, Curmudgeon wrote: "Both Covert Dreams and Thunder were really good reads. Well done."I am so glad that you enjoyed COVERT DREAMS. You have made my day. His younger sibling, DEADLY EYES, is quite proud of him, as is is very newest sibling, MICHAEL MEYER'S INTERNATIONAL SUSPENSE DUO, born last night on Amazon (a boxed set of COVERT DREAMS and DEADLY EYES).

In the kind and generous spirit of this group, and though it's not strictly A&A (am guessing that we probably all like to dip into other genre from time to time):If you enjoy english literary fiction (Hardy, Dickens, (gulps at the leap) Downton Abbey...) check out Tollesbury Time Forever by Stuart Ayris
If you enjoyed A Game Of Thrones A Game of Thrones you may also like The Dragon Bone Chair The Dragonbone Chair
I need to get around to reading Game of Thrones. I love the show. I do have both of those in the TBR pile, Kevin.
If you like Joe Pike by Robert Crais, you'll probably like The Innocent by David Baldacci.

Both are very good reads. Some people complain that The Dragonbone Chair starts a bit slow, I didnt feel that way about it. I enjoyed the setup and the background info, I felt it added plenty of color to the story.
My wife loves the Robert Crais books. I'm a bit ambivalent when it concerns detective novels. I like them but some times I feel once you read one...well?
I think that the style is similar between the Crais books, but I have an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it mentality." I know what I'm going in for when I read them.
If you liked Starship Troopers & The Forever War then also read Armor & Old Man's War in that order. It's great to see how our society's outlook has changed over the years.

I've heard good things about Armor.

You'd love it, Hugh. Steakley wrote Vampire$, too. John Carpenter directed the movie that stars James Woods.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120877/?...
It wasn't bad, but "Armor" is a masterpiece.
I've got that book around somewhere. Vampires was pretty cool, as vampire movies go. James Woods and Stephen Baldwin? (One o' dem baldwins, anyway)
Armor was recommended a long time ago, I've never opened it. (so, I guess I need to open it!)

I need to get around to WATCHING Game of Thrones. Guests to our home and friends on Facebook are horrified when I say we haven't watched it yet!
What do you think, am I missing out?!

Can I just say, very plainly, YES. I've started on the books.
Chris, both the books & the HBO series of Game of Thrones are great, but you might want to think about the order you watch or read them in. It's a personal preference & I'm not sure what I'd do differently, but I had some issues doing both.I watched the first season, then started reading the books. There were a couple of things that I knew were going to happen that I didn't want to read about, so the experience wasn't all it could be. I will say that the casting was so perfect that my minds eye always pictured the actors, though.
I didn't watch much of the 2d season because I had just read the books. I'm enjoying the 3d season, though. It varies more from the books than the other two, I believe. Fortunately, my memory is bad enough that I don't care too much. Others are blowing their tops, though.
If you like the TV show Copper, check out Resurrectionist. Its gritty historical realism reminded me of the show.
I, Curmudgeon wrote: "If you liked Starship Troopers (back in the day) you might like Soldier of the Legion \..."Read both of these (back in the day), when The Curmudgeon was encouraging me to read para-normal. (We didn't use that word in that day.) Read the whole series of 'Empire' books. Still have them.

Jim: I just checked and I think Armor is finally available on the Kindle. Wow! Thanks for reminding me...I have been wanting to read this one. Is Old Man's War a sequel to Armor? I'll check this out.
Aggggg...heartbreak city.....Armor is NOT available on the Kindle format yet.....Old Man's War is...but I had my heart set on Armor (I still say the guy on the cover looks alot like Kurt Russell...from Soldier).
David, Armor was by John Steakley & I've heard he planned a sequel, but died before writing it. I'm glad there wasn't one. It's perfect as a standalone, IMO. He also wrote Vampire$ which John Carpenter made into a pretty good movie. Not as good as "Armor", but worth reading &/or watching.Old Man's War is by John Scalzi. Heinlein's influence is obvious, but only the better parts of his writing, IMO. There are quite a few other books in the same universe & several others featuring the same characters. I've read some & the ones I read were good.
