What Fantasy/ Paranormal world would you want to live in?

I do enjoy a lot of books--PNR, PN, UF etc. The problem is--some of my fav universes are NOT nice places to live. I figure I'd probably wind up a red shirt if I lived in one.
However, having said that--I wouldn't mind living in Kate Daniels world. As long as I wasn't a Necro or a shifter. Its wwaayyy too hard there as a shifter. But I wouldn't mind being a witch or some other psychic.
of course, I also wouldn't mind being in the universe of Jane Jameson Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs. That looks like it might be a fun universe.
But I have to say--I think that my all time favourite would be Patricia Briggs's Mercy Thompson universe. That's one where I could actually SEE myself living.
I just finished reading the Hobbits by Tolkien. I wondered how that world... with elves, drolls running around.... I would love to sneak a pick into that world for just one day. My dream may be coming true soon as I heard that the Hobbit is coming out as a movie soon.... Can't wait to watch it. I loved the Lord of the Rings... so I expect this to be similar to that.
Twilight....Nightshade...Mortal instruments... those would be my top three. I also like the Harry potter world too
Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series! A kick-ass heroine with the sexiest guy as husband... Who doesn't love that? I am so hopelessly in love with this series. (:

What a great discussion question! Like an earlier poster, I feel like the worlds I love are dangerous as hell. I would be me in the guild hunter world and be blue bell's hea lol.

Especially being a girl some of the fantasy worlds I'd want to live in would be pretty rough for a female but then I guess I could change my gender...but that might be a little too weird ;)
And Shuling you sold me on the nights huntress series. I haven't heard of that one and totally going to read now!

I would love to be one of the shifters in the world that Shelly Laurenston has created...Got to love the humor and the hot men.
In the Land of SkyrimI know it's not related to books in anyway, being a popular game and all (throwing it in there JUST in case someone doesn't know), but it's the perfect ancient setting for me.
I have a lot of favorite worlds I would love to live in, but my top six would have to be:Nalini Singh - Psy/Changeling Universe, preferably as a Bear or a Lion just because we haven't seen them in the series yet they have been mentioned. Although, a certain wolf Alpha is pretty smokin' and even though he is mated, I would totally love to live in his realm!
Nalini Singh - Guild Hunter World as an angel, of course, because they are fiercely beautiful strong and quite frankly, non-human with wings!
Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson/Alpha Omega World as a walker or a fae as I just adore this world and the characters that come with it!
Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels world is just chaotic but I would love to be a Necromancer or Magic user as the shifters have a hard time with control and vampires are just mindless machines!
Jacquelyn Frank - Shadowdwellers world would be so interesting to live in as they cannot abide light in any form and have powerful gifts of the mind and a healthy knowledge of sex and the body! Yeah, wouldnt' mind living there, lol!
Gail Carriger - The Parasol Protectorate world would be fun to live in with the awesome science, 18th century charm, and fantastic tea and food to be had. Of course, it doesn't hurt that there are super strong Werewolves and Vampires thrown in the mix as well.
I would also be a valkyrie in Kresley Cole's immortals after dark series.

It's a world where magic works (and is done mostly by WOMEN.) Also there is science, non-humans of various sorts, totally yummy swordsmen (for us females), shape-shifters, fae. . . You name it, they have it. (Including intelligent horses and birds.)

As you all can tell from this, I have put a LOT of thought into this since this posting was listed. :oP (Did I mention that I am slightly OCD?)
Anyway, I will have inherited Roland's immortality. I will have also figured out (on my own) how to use many of my powers, but again, have been keeping VERY quiet on who/what I am through all these thousands of years.
I find Kate and the Pack accidently one day when following an urging from my magic. I am following a plea for healing help that I dreamed about. I think that it was from one of the young Bouda's. (Mainly cause I LOVE Aunt B and the whole clan.) She is going loup and is fighting it, and the whole gang is trying to figure out HOW to help her. I come in and, with the help of Andrea (and eventually using some donated energy from Raphael and Kate and Julie) I am able to pull her back from going Loup.
Er, I DID mention I'd thought about this a LOT, right?
Anyway, I decide to join my "Aunt" and her new family and oppose Roland and his troups.
And speaking of Roland--has anyone else noticed that he is ROLAND (the English version of the name Orlando, from Orlando Furioso fame)?

Oh, it has to be Middle Earth - I agree with Fumi. Not that everywhere is very nice, I certainly don't want to be living in Mordor.However, a little hobbit hole in the shire, a simple veggie garden and lots of pipeweed and ale every evening with the rest of the hobbits would suit me fine!
I would like to live in the IAD world created by Kresley Cole or in a world created by Shelly Laurenston. Shifters and Immortals, what could be better. ;-)
It would have to be in Valantis (The world I created.) or my Vampire Universe, but then I'd have to be a vampire. :)

I haven't read any of Shelly Laurenston's stuff...sounds like I need to. The shifter genre is very interesting.

And Danielle is right--the wild dogs DO know how to party and have a good time. They are part of the Pride series.
When He Was Bad should actually be read first--its kind of a pre-quel to the Magnus books. And the people in the Magnus books show up in the Pride books.
I think that my fav of all the Pride books is Beast Behaving Badly. I LOVE the idea that all the 6'7 and above people are actually BEAR shifters. And, well, the description at the beginning of the book when Bo is thinking about how seeing him walking to a gate to catch a plane sends the "pure humans" into hysterics. I will re-read that book a couple of times a year when I'm feeling really depressed--or when I'm hurting badly.

I would definitely love to live in the Guild Hunter world created by the most awesomest Nalini Singh! The whole Archangel deal is pretty awesome to me;) wouldn't mind bumping into Dmitri or Raphael....provided Elena or Honor doesn't hack my head off, lol!
I have to say Night Huntress for me as well. I have a HUGE crush on Bones & have always wanted to be secret assassin! So I would obviously want to be Cat. Honestly, who wouldn't? :DMy 2nd choice would be Anita Blake. I mostly love her, but often find myself completely annoyed with and sick of her never-ending attempts to screw up her own life beyond repair.
I also love Xhex in Black Dagger Brotherhood (I say Xhex with reservations only because I like Vishous a hell of a lot more than John - of all those boys I would happily choose V for myself. He's my fave ;p )
All 3 of these women have very similar personality types & temperaments to myself. I've always found them super relatable and can identify with/connect to them on a totally different level than any other characters. They just get to play with all the vampires AND fun weapons that I don't. :D Makes a girl jealous!

If I could live in a fantasy world it would have to be either "Kushiel's Legacy" by Jaqueline Carey , or possibly " Patricia Briggs "Mercy Thompson books", but if I was able to go to Boardertown , by holly black that would be amazing too. For a vacation I wouldn't mind any of Sharon Shinn's Samaria series, or Castle Auburn. I also zwouldn't mind spending some time in any of Tanya Huff's creations . Of course being a Jedi would be cool( I've always wanted a light saber. If I could choose who i would be in a book than I would be any if the MacKelter's soul mate's in Karen Marie Moninga booksc
There are several worlds I would choose to live in. The first would be a in the future with the new crew of STAR Trek. Roaming around the galaxy kicking ass would be fun. The second wold be mate to any males in the BDB. Those men are seriously hot. The third would be the Egyptian god world I created for my twin heroes, Roman and Reign. Two Egyptian demi-gods on the loose in NYC.
In Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling world, as a lioness, or her Guildhunter world as an angel.
I wouldn't mind living in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling world or in Christine Warren's world of the Others or in Shelly Laurenston's Pride world. But my all time favorite would have to be Andre Norton's Witch World. I especially like the Dales.
A dragonrider on Pern, Alaric Morgan in Gwynedd, a Comyn or Chieri on Darkover and a hobbit in LOTR.

And Steelwhisper--another person who is into "older" books. I love my Pern books (well, just about anything by Anne) and I enjoyed the Darkover books too.
And I still remember reading all 4 of the books that are directly related to LOTR (we didn't cover The Silmarillion or any of the other "lesser" books that Tolkein came up with. Just those 4.) We also won't say how long AGO that English class was either. :o)
And I like the Guildhunter world. But its a bit scarey.
And also love all of Tanya Huff's books.

Sigh, that's the problem with reading as much as I do. So many interesting worlds, so little time.
Gosh I don't know if I could ever just pick one world! I love so many. At first I was thinking the world of Twilight, and then I'm sitting there going "uhhh, no, people would die of vampires ALL the time!" I mean, come on, Edward was one in a million right? So then I'm thinking either Wicked Lovely, or Harry Potter. Probably Wicked Lovely because I've spent most of my life feeling pretty fey ;D

I was going to say the Guildhunter world or Thea Harrison's Dragons, but Pern has to be the favorite. I loved her books back in the day. Unfortunately, I never thought her son had her talent.

This one's easy. Black Dagger Brotherhood for me. Of course I identify with Wrath and the idea of the mansion/compound they live in just seems awesome.But that's me.

I'm actually working on a series where my heroes are in menages and I wrote a book with a heroine who had two male lovers, part of the conflict was that the one male lover couldn't believe wolves would EVER be bisexual.

Like Sascha, the world of the Vampires has fascinated me. I'm not talking about the arrogant, cruel ones but the romantic ones, the mysterious type who sweep you of your feet, are protective and for just a bit of your blood, will totally rock your world.
I would def want to live where i could be a vampire and live forever! i guess i would like Sookie land the best lol

If you were to live in one world from any book (fantasy/paranormal and the like), which would it be? And would you be a specific character or just yourself in that world?
It's a tough one I know! So I'll get the ball rolling.
Besides my obvious one being Harry Potter (because who wouldn't want to be a wizard/witch and live in Hogwarts!). I think I would have an awesome time being Evie in the Premonition series. Learning you're the highest ranked angel and have wicked red wings so you can fly...sounds pretty cool, so does super human strength and speed and magic abilities (the list goes on).
She's also has some beautiful men to surround herself with and I really dig the thought of having a soul mate through all of time (as corny as that seems). And I like the idea of all these ancient races living in secret among us.
So yeah, I think that would be mine. (at least for now ;) ).
