Benjamin knew that him and Madeline was in his class because he had notice her before but they didn't talk . He smirked as he walked into the room and sat somewhere . He couldnt wait to see the expression on her face .

Madeline looked around for an empty seat. No. This time she said it aloud, "No." The only open seat was by HIM.
He leaned forward and grinned as Madeline said no . He laughed and then smiled wickedly ," Care to join me Madeline ?". He knew that was the only seat left , and he knew she had no other option .
She plopped down beside him, "Please. Not today. Torment me all you want tomorrow, but not today."
Benjamin sat back and slouched in his chair. He bit the end of his pen and said ," Okay . I won't ". He looked at her and smiled ," You look pretty today ", and then went back to writing the date on his notepad .
She took notes and tried to ignore him. Even her handwriting looked like it was weeping today.
Benjamin listened to the lecture , he took notes on Shakespeare and how he portrayed Romeo and Juliet. The teacher asked ," Does anyone want to share their thoughts about this book ?". Benjamin instantly put his hand up , the teacher nodded to him . Benjamin said ," I think the whole story is stupid. Love is never like that , it's cliche and tacky . The fact that she's only just turned a teenager and he is about seventeen , is slightly disturbing . How can a 13 year old feel love ? They should be feeling sand , and feeling the ground a they run , instead of falling in love . And the fact that they die at the end is stupid too ". Benjamin shrugged and bit on his pen .
Madeline looked at him like 'Are you serious?'
( im so sorry ! I didnt get a notification)Benjamin looked back at Madeline firmly , the teacher coughed awkwardly and said ," Thank you , Benjamin for that ".
Benjamin mumbled ," Whatever your welcome". He packed his stuff up and roughly put it in his bag . The teacher said ," Benjamin what are you doing ?".
Benjamin put his coat on and grabbed his bag , " I'm going ". He looked at Madeline and said ," You have the seat next to you all to yourself, happy ? You don't have to sit next to me ".
With another word he slammed the door open and went out .

Madeline clenched her fists, "Excuse me, professeur. I will be right back." She left her bag and her coat and ran after him, "What the heck is your deal?! I'm not a Romeo and Juliet fan either but I don't tell the professeur! And you know what, you're right. Love never works out like that but maybe some of like to have that fantasy! And what did I do?! I just didn't want to be harassed today because that's all you EVER do to me!"

Benjamin turned around to face her and sighed , he rubbed his forehead and said calmly ," See , I can't even express my opinion without being yelled at ".He laughed bitterly and said ," I'm not bugging you , you came to me . I didnt ask you to come out of class ".
He went close to her , inches and breathes way , bodies touching . He didn't mean it in a sexual way. He said softly ," How would you like it if you were judged no matter what ?". And then he walked away from her , he couldn't take this shit anymore .

She blinked. Even as he left he still felt the way he had pressed himself against her. She felt her breath caught in her throat until all she could do was say, "It wasn't your opinion, it was what you said to me as you left. I never said you were bugging me, I only said you almost always do." but he was gone so it didn't matter. She couldn't move. Why was the way he had been so close so...intoxicating?

If you do I won't do it ))Benjamin didn't mean to be so rude to Madeline , he never really understood why he was annoying her . To be honest , he was just living up to everyone's stereotype of him . He didn't mean any harm to her , he never meant to be such a bother to her .
He sat outside in the eating area , wooden benches and tabled everywhere . He put his hands in his head , god he was so fucked up.

Madeline went back to her class only because her bags were there. Part of her wanted to chase after Ben. Heck, part of her wanted to step that close to her again. But that was the part that was gonna get her heartbroken again. That was the one that was going to get her sitting next to ANOTHER guy almost crying over the fact it was the 2-year anniversary of relationship that had ended three days ago.
Madeline went back to her class only because her bags were there. Part of her wanted to chase after Ben. Heck, part of her wanted to step that close to her again. But that was the part that was gonna get her heartbroken again. That was the one that was going to get her sitting next to ANOTHER guy almost crying over the fact it was the 2-year anniversary of relationship that had ended three days ago.
Benjamin went to sit on the grass mound , he then lay down with his hands behind his head, and he looked up at the sky . He started to think about Madeline , and how close he was to her just then . He like it , a lot.
He wanted to be close with her like that again , but he didn't know if she felt like that too.
She probably didn't . But he felt like he was going to do it again anyway .
When the class ended Madeline was the first out. Normally she stayed and asked questions. Madeline saw Ben and started to say something but stopped herself. She just stood there silently for a little bit. Time passed slowly and then she said, "Sorry."
Benjamin lifted his head slightly and then put it back down , he smiled . He was grateful that she apologised and he knew it must have been hard for her , because she seemed stubborn . He said softly ," Don't worry about it". He was too distracted by the sky that he couldn't even focus . " Come here Madeline , come and lay down with me . The skies beautiful ".
She awkwardly came over and lay down next to him, "But I wasn't irritated about your opinion. It was what you said when you left that stung."
Benjamin sighed and lay still , he could almost feel her next to him . He wanted to get closer but didn't push his luck , she's was being nice to him , that's all he could ask for . He whispered ," Then I should be sorry , not you".
"I know. Why do think I said it? Cuz I meant it?" she knew it was mean and rude and cold, even meaner than what he would normally say, but she was letting her guard down. She was letting him in. She was giving him an already broken heart to shatter, and she couldn't do that.
Benjamin laughed at her cold answer , and he kept laughing ," I love your brutal honesty ". He laughed again , because for the first time someone was being honest to him . Someone was whipping him into shape , and he liked it .
Madeline bit her tongue awkwardly. Did he think anything about how he had been so close?
" I liked how close we were ", he said suddenly. He closed his eyes tightly , sort of like a kick to himself , and then re opened them. You idiot , he thought to himself .He turned his head to face her , looking directly in her eyes .
She was taken aback, but not angry. What should she do? Get closer? Protect her broken heart and walk away? Try to ignore the fact her heart was beating loud enough to make her head pulse?
He kept staring at her , he knew a million questions were going through her head . He knew maybe he was pushing his luck , and that maybe he was putting her on the spot . But he didn't have the nerve to pull away or turn his head in the other direction . He said ," I'm not like your ex ".
She pulled away tears in her eyes. She stood up and turned, "You'd have a better shot if today wasnt supposed to be mine and James's 2-year anniversary."
Benjamin got up abruptly and stepped forward to her , he was shocked . He stuttered ," I-its yours and James anniversary today ?". Benjamin sat down on the benches and patted the seat next to him .
"Tell me about it ".
She shook her head, "It would have been if we were still together." Tears were streaming down her cheeks and her chest clenched to fight the tears. She wanted to run away to her dorm right now. She wanted to somehow tape his pictures back together out of the shredder.
Benjamin got up and grabbed her, he embraced her in a hug . A soft one . A reassuring one . He wrapped both his arms around her shoulders , and rocked her a little ."It's okay if you want to cry , go on ".
He didn't mind .
Before she could stop herself she had grabbed his shirt with both fists and was sobbing onto his shirt.
He held her tighter , rocking her and shushing her softly . He held her head and felt like he could feel how sad she was , and he didn't like it at all . All he felt like he could do was hug her .
His build was similar to James' which made her cry harder.
He pulled back slightly , but there was that closeness again . He looked her in the eyes and wiped away her tears ," Hey , come on ",he said softly ,"don't cry ".
She pulled away. She had known it. He hadn't really been a shoulder to cry on. When he had said 'if you want to cry, go on' he hadn't meant it. He had just said it. They were just words. Words like James. Empty but seeming to be full.
Benjamin saw something change in her eyes , so he held on to her tighter and said strongly ," He is not worth your tears , so dont you dare give him that satisfaction, dont you even think about it ". He looked deep in to her eyes .
She pulled away, "You are so confusing. Just make up your mind on who you are already!" She ran off to her dorm, tears flooding from her eyes.
Benjamin stuck his hands in his pockets and watched her run away , there wasnt much he could do , except let her run . If he did go after her, she wouldnt listen , she would think whatever she needed to and stick to that . He just wondered the university with his headphones in his ears .
Madeline plowed her face into her pillow, sobbing. She felt that the longer he was there the more broken her heart became.
Eventually Benjamin walked back to his dorm , he stopped in front of Madelines door . He didn't know if she needed some comfort or if she just wanted to be alone . So sat down in front of her door , leaning on the other wall .
Madeline cried for a while, almost 20 minutes, before calming down. She opened her door to go get something to eat. She saw Ben and slammed the door. He was the last thing she needed.
Benjamin looked as she slammed the door in his face . He laughed lightly and got up to go to his own room . He guessed she wanted to be alone . Once he was in his dorm he just fell asleep on his bed , John wasn't there .
Madeline picked up a book. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. She loved that book. She began to read.
As time passed by John had come back, and Benjamin was awake . He was bored and had nothing to do . John just lay on his bed with his arm over his head , evidently bored , like Benjamin .
Madeline's stomach growled as she finished her book and she went to get something to eat.
Benjamin felt like he wanted Chinese food , he asked John and John immediately got up from bed . Benjamin ordered on his cell phone and once they did they suddenly felt all excited .
Madeline went into the cafeteria and went through the empty line.
As soon as Benjamin and John got their Chinese food that poor food couldn't even breathe before they opened up the packaging .Benjamin and John lay on their beds with their hands on their stomachs .
" Urgh that hit the spot !", John roared . Benjamin laughed . But he couldn't really get Madeline out of his mind .
Madeline frowned as she ate, thinking way too much about Ben for her own good. He's no good for me and he never will be. He's nothing but heartbreak waiting to happen.
