would she die? we will never know
I don't think that Suzanne Collins would have let her die, most likely for the shock factor. I mean, here's this little, helpless girl. She should lose, right? Wrong. She wins. It'd be a good twist. And I can imagine her and Rue teaming up, and Peeta wanting to take good care of her for Katniss, and...well, I think you get the point.

I don't know, in some books, the main character might die (although I find that utterly pointless).
Agreed. Perhaps she would die, but Katniss in the next book would be chosen in the QQ (it would be different) and the rebellion would still happen, though very differently.

I think it would've been cool if she'd kept it in KAtniss' perspective, and described how she saw the Hunger Games play out. Inevitably Prim would've died, and Peeta would've won, and than Katniss would get really angry, the rebellion ensues, Peeta and Gale triangle is still going on, and Katniss would've married Gale because she didn't owe Peeta anything. Ta-da!
