Flight Behavior question

I moved to the UK more than 20 years ago, in an attempt to find a place I would fit in. In many regards, it has worked for me. I have always loved your books as they reflected familiar themes. Perhaps I prefer stories on a small scale. I would love to know what inspired you to write the Lacuna as it seemed such a departure, although equally wonderful.
