Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments When you rent DVDs, do you watch the bonus features? I find that they are interesting, but they're very time-consuming and they eat into my reading time.

Mike I usually scan the special features, and watch if they sound interesting. The "Making Of" features are often good, and the "Deleted scenes" can be amusing. I seldom re-watch movies with the commentary turned on though.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Hi Mike. I'm not sure I've watched a DVD movie with the commentary turned on. I remember vaguely that I tried it one time. I'm still getting used to which feature is which.

I always keep the captions on. I've become dependent on them because sometimes the dialogue isn't clear.

Earl (read_for_entertainment) | 375 comments I usually TRY to figure out a way to jump past the BS with the fast-forward switch. This usually doesn't work well as they want to force you to watch them.

Joy, sometimes it's hard to make the captions appear on a DVD. Seems like activating the option varies from one DVD to the next. (of course I don't watch that many DVDs, so maybe I'm overlooking something obvious.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Earl, I have finally figured out the method by which one can activate captions on the Netflix DVDs. In my opinion, they could have made the procedure easier to understand.

BTW, when you said "commentary", did you mean "captions"?

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments It depends on the movie but mostly no, I don't watch them. At first we did, but as Joy pointed out, it's quite time consuming. And a lot of it turned out to be useless garbage, nothing I cared about.
For my favorite movies, I do watch the extras because I'm interested.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Yes, I guess it all depends on the movie, whether we watch the bonus features of a DVD or not.

I finally found out what the "commentary" is. It takes time to get used to all the menus on the DVDs. Some are easier to figure out than others.
