Me too! Oren kinda reminds me of Jebediah in Be Still My Soul by Joanne Bischof

I'll be reading this mainly at work this week, until the super glue on fingers disappears enough that I can crochet at work and read at home. LOL.

I admire Lily's determination and her fearless attitude. But I do think she's a little too reckless.
And Connell is starting to realize that maybe he can do more than turn a blind eye to the evil in the town.

I really love Vera! It made me smile when Carr came over and she pulled out her wooden spoon and was prepared to use it as a weapon!
Even though it is not her fault, I can understand Lily blaming herself for Daisy running away. I can appreciate Lily's view on clear cutting, and I am interested to see where she and Connell find middle ground on that issue! I admired the way Lily stepped in to help Frankie but I do wish that she had thought about the possible consequences a little more first.
It's really interesting that we a view of what's going on in Connell's head too, and I find Connell's mathematical brain very interesting to read about. For some reason I am really fascinated by Connell's brother's name, Tierney, I don't know that I have ever heard that name before.
I loved the authors description of the forest!
It was a really good thing that Connell got off his horse when he was searching for Lily in the snow, because if he hadn't, his horse probably would have ended up stepping on her...
One of my favorite quotes "If I remember right I didn't do such a bad job taking care of myself. But I suppose if it makes you feel like a knight in shining armor, I'll let you take the credit for saving me from doom."
That part really cracked me up!
I can't wait to see how it's all gonna come together, it really was a horrible place to stop wasn't it?!!! (In a good way!) :D

I loved that quote.

I think that one option to have the gossip stop with Lily and Connell would have been to have them marry. But so far, that's not been an option given them.
I really don't like Connell's brother. He's a first class jerk. It'll also be interesting to see how Lily's Red Ribbon campaign will turn out.

I really love Connell's mom! I don't like Tierney one bit, I don't know why but I can't help thinking that at some point Tierney will go after Lily.
I am trying to be compassionate, but I am really starting to get annoyed with Daisy's whining!
I am really looking forward to seeing how it will all play out! :D

I am so glad that Connell woke to how Carr was running the town. Then the rescue scene with Lily. I was like oh no the entire time!

It was all so perfect, I loved that this book combined two of my favorite things, historical fiction and suspense!!! I thought this book was excellent! It was my first Jody Hedlund book and now I can't wait to read her others!!! :D

Is there anything else you would like to discuss?

And it's ok about not having been online. I've been so busy lately that I've not been playing here on Goodreads much the past week or so.
