vicki_girl | 2764 comments Should the following editions be deleted? One has no ISBN/ASIN/BNID. The other has a BNID, but the number returns no results on B&N.

I ask because this book has never been available as an ebook. Please see the following link (note this is page 4, of a 9 page article.)

http://www.thestreet.com/story/114488...

I am looking into the other books listed in the article.

Banjomike | 5166 comments The ebook versions that most people are likely to have will be illegal. That isn't going to stop them being added.

The second one seems to exist here:

unless they got their info from us?

I love the Harper Lee quote on that page:
"Now, 75 years later in an abundant society where people have laptops, cellphones, iPods and minds like empty rooms, I still plod along with books."

vicki_girl | 2764 comments I saw that link, but I think that it is questionable. There is no publication date listed. And the cover image used appears to be a photo of a used paperback.

Also, I am looking through the Harry Potter Books (discussed in the same article). It appears that ebook editions were made available on Pottermore.com, a few weeks after the article was published.

Harlequin Books (harlequinbooks) | 70 comments Should I delete a book if it has the wrong isbn listed but has been combined with a listing with the correct isbn? I can't change the isbn on the incorrect listing obviously but there are member who have it on their shelves and I don't want to remove the book on them.

Incorrect isbn~ http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Yes, if someone's put the ISBN-13 in the ISBN-10 slot again, the bad edition should be merged into the good one; this transfers existing reviews and shelves onto the edition with the correctly located ISBN.

I've just done so for this edition.

Harlequin Books (harlequinbooks) | 70 comments Thank you. :)

ebookfling gets its data from B&N and Amazon. It seems that an illegal edition was once listed on B&N but has now been taken down. People who bought it while it was available might have it, as even illegal editions don't get deleted (post Amazon-1984-debacle).

There's also a Random House edition that came out in June http://www.randomhouse.com/book/25713...

I don't know. Why can't people get their illegal editions from the proper places?

In any case, I don't think GR is the place to have them listed.

Not sure about that. Amazon deleted "illegal" copies of 1984 and Animal Farm from the Kindles of people who had paid for them. So there will be people using Goodreads who will have read an officially illegal version of a book which I say should be on GR.

I'm sure many who bought the books in question from B&N and Amazon did think they were buying legal copies of them.
