Has anyone read this book? If so, feel free to rate it, comment about it, and give it a summary. Let others know what it's about.

I myself have not read this book, though I will soon, and I want to know what genre this would be.

This is one of my top 10 favorite books. I loved that it was told from the point of view of a child, and throughout the story, you see the effects of racism on a young girl, and you see that she has to grow up way faster than a girl of 8 years should have to. My favorite thing about this book is that it teaches you to not judge others until you can put yourself in their skin and see life from their eyes. It's a great read, I'd recommend it to everyone who enjoys a good story.

When I read this book I was rather young and understood that the book is a classic for a reason. It never stopped bringing bites of the past, both historical or fictional, to the action. The last few pages were AMAZING! I remember reading them and being so enthralled by the turn of events; it envoked a catharsis that few books have come close to. It is completely worth the read.

This is one of my favorite books. I had started reading it when I was still in high school but I didn't find it as interesting so I tossed it. But then I read it a few months ago and I loved it. The story was moving and greatly impacting. It was really well told and I felt that all the characters really delivered the plot. It makes you rethink and gives you a completely new perspective on life...which is to avoid judging anyone before you have to go through what they have. I give it full ratings and recommend to everyone. It's a great read.

This book is honestly one of the best books I have ever read, (I've read over 400 books) and I've read this book 16 times and each time I've read it I learned something new that I didn't notice. It's a must read!!!

Genre? Part Southern Gothic, part coming-of-age story.

I'm slightly confused by this. That's exactly what GoodReads is for, so why do you feel the need to invite people to do so like it's your personal prerogative? So far 1,219,915 people have already rated it on GoodReads and 34,734 of them have left a review: it's one of the most read books on GoodReads. Why not go and look at some of those reviews?

Its as classic as it gets really. I adore this book i read when i was in secondary school and couldn't peel my eyes away from the pages. I've read it so many times over the years. I recommend it to anyone its most definitely one of my all time favourites. It really shows both the good and bad side of people and how one person can make a difference and how we should never judge a book by it cover.

I totally loved it both times I read it. Of course, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. Our book club recently reread it and everyone liked it.

One of the best books ever written; however, as we get farther from the Civil Rights Struggle in the United States it will be more difficult for readers to put their minds into. It is a sample of an important time in history, and a lesson on how Humanity slowly prevails against mindless tradition.

For me, it reflects a world just fading when I was little, the world when my Father was little. Harper Lee's prose is simple and direct, so captures that childhood weltanschauuang.

And Atticus Finch is the man all men should aspire to be. He is the humble, morally courageous, man. The Hero of the Human Condition. Two quotes:

"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what."

And Miss Maudie Atkinson's most salient quote about Atticus: "I don't know if it will help saying this to you... some men in this world are born to do our unpleasant jobs for us... your father is one of them."

I think there are a lot of themes and morals in this book. Add to that it being well written, entertaining and the characters simply pop out of the pages, it makes this one of my favourite books. I do like books set in this genre to start with so it's possible I'm biased. Others have gone into the story line and themes so I won't repeat them but all have given it a big thumbs up so I would say its a pretty good hint to read the book for yourself. Maybe come back and let us all know what you thought of it :)
