Katie (Imadanosaur) | 67 comments TMI or the mortal instruments is coming out in theaters but you need to read the book first.

Is Eragon (Inheritance, #1) by Christopher Paolini a really good book to read? I sometimes hear it's good and sometimes hear the total opposite.

message 105: by Katie (new)

Katie (Imadanosaur) | 67 comments I didn't like it. Very boring

message 106: by [deleted user] (new)

Why is it boring? Does it focus too much on conversation or too much on detail?

message 107: by Katie (new)

Katie (Imadanosaur) | 67 comments Detail

message 108: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh. I don't mind if it focuses on detail too much. I usually enjoy books better that way. If it focused on conversation, I'd instantly find it hard to continue the book.

Thanks for your help!

I agree. I NEVER abandon books but this sucked. I left after 100 pages. Way overly detailed, no good characters, crappy world building. Kind of a rip off of LoTR too. The only good thing was the dragon.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

A bunch of people I know say that it's kinda an imitation of LOTR.

I started reading it and I'm on page 5....since two years ago. It seems kind of dull. I just didn't get into the story. I read the first LOTR when I was 10 in a few days and I couldn't even finish a chapter of Eregon in two freaking years!

But I have much respect for the author who seems very young and that is always encouraging to see.

I guess I'll check out the free reading sample on my nook and, if I enjoy it, I'll quickly rent it out.

message 113: by [deleted user] (new)

I just read part of the free reading sample on my nook. To me, it's very interesting! I love the detail! Much better than dialogue in my opinion. I guess I will definitely give this book a try then! Thanks for helping me out!!

Good! The book has a lot of potential and I happen to like detail because I'm a very visual person. I just didn't get hooked as instantly as I wanted to.

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

I guess it's different with every person. Like, LOTR didn't appeal to me too much, but this one does.

You're right, it definitely depends. I like books with more romance and Eregon didn't seem to have much.

message 117: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, definitely! Like Feed, in my opinion, was absolutely boring! It had too much conversation, not enough action, and was completely dull.

Sara Asgar | 14 comments Oohh yes!! Read Hex Halls!! I read all of the series!!! Amazing series!! Specially if you're into all mythical beings!! And the twists the books take!! You're sure to enjoy them!! :)

Arwen Fault in our Stars

message 120: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 218 comments Same here, Arwen. I can't take sad endings so I am not going to read it. I read something worse though. So I cannot imagine reading Fault in Our Stars without like....losing the ability to feel.

message 121: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 27, 2013 09:02PM) (new)

Oh my goodness, that book too. Broke. My. Heart. What is with all these sad endings. I get that the world is a place if pain and suffering, and I've never claimed to be optimistic, but damn! Can't we get some happily-ever-afters thrown into these books to make me at least SMILE through my floodgates of salt water falling onto the paper?!? I'm so desperate for a happy ending I'll even take the illusion of happiness at the moment - there are just way to many depressing endings happening at the current moment!

YES,YES, YES, YES,YES!!!!!
Just as a warning though, you will be really sad. Like, a lot. But, it is definitely something that you should read. But, like I said, sadness is something that comes with the book. (=

It's pretty much the exact opposite; you will feel all the things. Seriously. You will feel hate towards John Green, love towards the characters, and extreme sadness. It just comes with the book. (=

Oh, gosh, I totally agree. I'm still not over Clockwork Princess (<3 Will) and will never get over Allegiant. No. Nope. That book will remain untouched on my bookshelf, as stagnant as my sadness until those feelings have dulled...which may be never. But until then, I will imagine a better ending where a smile is not considered an optimistic hope and where my dreams will not be stomped underfoot....
