Kathy ♡ To me, the movie was terrible!! If they followed the story line better, it probably would've been better. So, what do you think would've made the movie better?

Leah Well, making the characters 12 years old, making Annabeth blonde, making Grover more awkward, the cabins not being open-air... it's an endless list, really.

Avery Annabeth has blond hair and grey eyes not brown hair and blue eyes! I hate this movie but I love the book.

Cole Thiruselvam The plot was totally off!

I would have loved if Percy had stayed in the Herme's Cabin. Another thing, that characters like: Clarisse, Nancy Bobbofit(something like that), and the Stoll Brothers had appeared in the movie, that would have been waaay better.

J.J. Lair Nothing against the actors, but I thought the movie was miscast. The older actors were good, Keener, Thurman, Sean Bean. I pictured way younger characters than were cast in the title roles. I also agree with everyone about Annabeth.

Tess if they actually followed the book. thats all it would have took.

Zeke (Natalie) If they actually gave Annabeth Blond hair and grey eyes. I mean seriously! Her eyes are like green. And the scene with Hades is allll WRONG!! I think It could have been a lot better.

I would have liked the following scenes:

The one with Clarisse and Percy in the bathroom
Capture the Flag with Posey's trident on Percy's head
The Waterland scene
The battle against Ares
The journey to Las Vegas in a zoo truck and the conversation between Percy and Annabeth
The scene with the Fates
Montauk

Characters that shoud have been there:
Nancy Bobofit
Clarisse La Rue
Ares
Connor Stoll
Travis Stoll
Katie Gardener (just cameos and occasional lines)

Et Cetra!

Betsy After reading all these posts I'm grateful I didn't see this movie. I absolutely loved the book, and it would have actually hurt to see a story so good botched. I don't know of course who directed this film but I think in a film like this where you have half-human or animal-like characters , you need someone like Spielberg to direct it. If he can make Jar-Jar and the other characters in STARWARS look so appealingly possible then he ought to be able to do that with Riordan's characters.

You're VERY lucky you didn't see the movie. I honestly saw the movie first and then read the series. But then I decided to watch the movie again to see if there were any differences. There were too many......it made me soo mad!

Elizabeth Day Maybe it should have been more like the book. I saw the movie first, then when I read the book, most of it was a surprise because the book and the movie were so different! So along with being more like the book, they shouldn't have killed Luke and ended it like that, so that they could make the rest of the books into movies! They are making The Sea of Monsters a movie anyway, but they shouldn't have killed Luke in The Lightning Thief!

Alejandria Hmm well if they actually read the book this movie would be totally different. I mean Camp Half Blood! Please, they did not live in those type of cabins! They had actual Ancient Greek architecture all around them not just woods. And then where is the tree at? They have to include that because Thalia is an important character! And the fight with Ares would also have been awesome to put in.... There are just many things I would like to change in that movie...

Tonari if it went by the book! that would've been great! and come on! they were too old to be the main characters!

Sam the movie is rubbish!

Porter thats the way it is with all books that become movies, they never follow the story line. i sometimes think reading a book is more exciting than watching the movie they create for the book itself. the movie wasn't very good at all.

message 17: by Cole (last edited Nov 13, 2012 05:47PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cole Thiruselvam They just skipped everything! They should have involved Clarrise and made the cabins in a "U" shape

message 18: by Cole (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cole Thiruselvam The book is all ways better than the movie plus Percy is 12 not 17 !!

Michele If they actually read the book I'm sure they would have made it at last similar to the original plot/ characters ect. After all the book was amazing!

Sarel Boshoff the same thing happened when they tried to make ERAGON into a movie. They reduce the importance of characters in the first book that aren't the focus of the story and that hampers the probability of making the second book into a movie because now those characters are the focus( thats if those characters are even introduced in the first movie). Also they change the plot to make it easier to produce and in the end important events are left out that are vital for character development. All they did in this movie was show every time Percy got in trouble or was facing a monster, no real character development, no depth in emotions and that just destroyed the movie. O and they can't even get the small details right (Annabeth is blonde).

Just... More like the books. IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE

Keona Chandler i was really disappointed that the movie was so different from the books. everyone was too old, and the characters and plot werenʻt true to the story we all know and love. i did appreciate some of the changes, like the iPhone thing with medusa, that was funny. iʻm not saying that they needed to recreate the books, but being really close to that would be nice. i did however, love logan lerman as percy. i think he was perfect, but just too old for the lightning thief. i wish they had made this movie years ago and done it right!

Katie Cota Follow the story...

Mpiggy Definitely sticking to the story line better!

Haley These are the things I really wish they would have done:
Give Annabeth blond hair and gray eyes!
Cast the main characters as twelve-year-olds
And include the Waterland scene. That was funny...

Anyway, the main characters totally should have been younger! In the last movie, they're gonna be, like, 100!

A It's hard to believe that the person who directed Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief is the same person who directed the first two movies of Harry Potter.

Alejandria @Asha Really? I never would have thought

Mila *You Are In The Presence of Amazingness* Annabeth needs to look like Annabeth, you never would have guessed that she was Annabeth from a picture.

Steph Campbell Having cast memebers the right age and matching the book descriptions! Annabeth is supposed to have blonde curly hair, Grover is supposed to be a shy, ginger acne covered teen!
Following the plot, and including most of the main scenes.
Having Camp Half-Blood as less of an American lake side resort and more of an Ancient Greek training camp.
I read that Rick Riordan refused to go and see the film, I wish i had done the same. The next one looks even worse too, they've had to replace Peirce Brosonan as Chrion, and the girl playing Clarrise looks like a model. The only part I'm excited about is that Mark Hamil is playing Tantalus.
Ugh.

Emma Hannah They should actually read the book.

Isabella (All Da Ladies Luv Leo) Thomas Let's start with KRONOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 33: by Nae (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nae They shouldn't have killed Luke off and I was so disappointed with how the cabins looked. They all looked like little wooden shacks.

Lauren Stoolfire I think sticking with the source material would have been a great start!

message 35: by Amelia (last edited Feb 09, 2013 06:56PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amelia Add Clarisse!! I love the toilet scene! And the casting for Annabeth was off. Alexandra Daddario so not Annabeth! I loved her as Kate in White Collar (love that show), but, SHE'S NOT BLOND!!! Also, aren't they in SIXTH grade?!!

Katie I thought the movie was good for how little they followed the book, but i really wished they stuck more to the book, now they will have to improvise on all the other movies, because they left out so much stuff!

message 37: by Nila (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nila A more acute portrayal of Annabeth and ACTUALLY STICKING TO THE ORIGINAL STORY LINE!!

Isabella (All Da Ladies Luv Leo) Thomas The prophesy will now say: When a child of the eldest gods reaches 20...

message 39: by Amelia (last edited Feb 09, 2013 07:14PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amelia The casting for Annabeth was BAD. I liked Alexandra Daddario in White collar, but she's just not Annabeth.
Another thing that bothers me is their age. Aren't they like, way past 16?!! Hello! There's a prophecy! They're supposed to be 6th graders!

Isabella (All Da Ladies Luv Leo) Thomas Please they didn't even mention KRONOS!

ϟEvelynϟ Simple answer: everything.

Except Logan Lerman. He's hot as fuck

No, they also used the wrong character, he may be cute but he's way older than 16
