I think the older Nancy Drew books are better. The Nancy Drew series is suppose to be about mysteries, while the new books are just trying to scare children to either read more or give up on ever reading the stories ever again.

I have a collection book, that has 3 stories in it. I wondered what numbers they were, so I looked them up. The book numbers were: 168, 172, and 175. Could these be the new stories, or are these more original stories from Nancy Drew, that no one talks about? If you could please answer my question. :D

I believe there were 75 original Nancy Drew Mystery Stories. I read the original ones growing up and fell in love. I have only read 1 or 2 "Nancy Drew Files" books, which is a newer kind of Nancy Drew. If you look up Nancy Drew on a Google search, find the Wikipedia link and it gives you a list of the original mystery stories and the various branch off Nancy Drew books. Such as the Nancy Drew Files, video games, comic books, and even a series of when George, Bess, and Nancy were in Elementary school. There are many to keep up with. I don't believe numbers #168, 172, and 175 are apart of the original mystery series though. Hope that helps some! =)
Thank you for the help Ashlee
Ashlee is right - the main (original) series of Nancy Drew books are the ones with the yellow covers. :-) The ones you are referring to (I think I have that 3 volume book, too!) are still part of the Nancy Drew series, but they are modern stories that were written a couple years ago or so. I've read some of them and they are actually good! The originals are probably better, though. :-)

It would be cool to read all the series, Ashlee. :-) I definitely want to try out the Nancy Drew files once I finish the classic series, and would even like to try the Nancy Drew notebooks series. :-)

Ha ha, you said it Trinisse (and what a pretty name!), long live Nancy Drew <3 I definitely want to read more of her books this year. I want to read all the classic books, then move on to the newer ones. :-)
Like you, Alex, I want to read the Hardy Boys after i finish all the nancy Drew ones :-)

Yeah me too!!!
Did you know that they got together in the tv series in couple of the episodes of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew but some of the episodes they were by themselves.

As old as I am (ie technically to old for nancy drew) I still love them and re read them.
I started losing interest with the case file ones. Became a little to "sweet valley high" in the drama. That said...I have read some of them. (can't help myself)

I understand that they wanted to modernize it, but it lost it's old style charm.

You said it :-) I've always enjoyed the classic ones more myself. They have that special charm to it, and a vintage theme which I really love. <3

Tara, you're right about Nancy's dad and the housekeeper helping her out with cases. I just finished reading Ghost of Blackwood Hall and her dad helped her do some sleuthing in that story :-) Hannah also called the police when Nancy was gone for too long ;-)

That's a good idea, Kathy! I love the original time period. That does make sense :-)

THE NEW ONES STINK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ilike Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys.
Have any of you read the new Nancy Drew series called "The Nancy Drew Diaries?" The front covers look nice, but I'm wondering if the mysteries aren't as good as the previous series I've read.

That's so good to know. Are the originals the ones with the yellow cover or...???

The yellow ones are considered originals, but they are not the very first editions, so some stuff in the stories got changed here and there. They are the main ones I read, though, because they're easier to find in the library. :-)
