For those of you who have read the new Nancy Drew books, like "Without a Trace", and the old Nancy Drew books (the ones with the yellow covers on them), which series do you prefer? I've always liked the classic ones better, but now that I've read some of the newer ones, I'm just not sure. They are both fun to read.

Meredith I haven't read any of the new Nancy Drew Files (If that's what you mean) so I can't judge, but I find that all the new ones have a NEW guy on the front. And from the backs of the books they sound really boy obsessed. I just don't think that's really what they should not be about. So I don't know... But I do LOVE the old ones with yellow covers!!!!! LOTS AND LOTS!!!!

Here's the new Nancy Drew books that I'm referring to. I haven't read the Nancy Drew Files yet. It's funny that they sound boy obsessed. :-P Yeah, I agree that the books should not be all about boys.

The new books are actually pretty good! Some are good, but some aren't as good as the original yellow covered books. They didn't change Nancy's character a whole lot in the new books. They main that I noticed is that Nancy is sometimes forgetful, like she forgets to refill her car with gas. :-P Also, George is into electronic gadgets/computers, and Bess is a mechanic person! I know, that's a big change! She doesn't seem like the type who knows how to fix things. :-P

message 19: by Meredith (new)

Meredith Not at all :)

message 20: by Katie (new)

Katie yep!!! well im glad she hhasnt changed!!

☼☺Caylpso☼☺ (oceangirl300) i like the old ones they are better than the new ones because they are not as good as the classic ones

I saw a Jane Eyre movie a while ago. I'm not sure if it's the one that you're talking about, Meredith, but it was pretty cool! In the Jane Eyre movie that I saw, the actress of Lucy from the Narnia movie was in it! She was acting the part of Jane Eyre as a young girl.

message 33: by Meredith (new)

Meredith YESSSS THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!! But, they completely butchered the one part. Smooch, smooch, kiss, kiss for like ten minutes. Maybe that gives you a hint.

I haven't seen it in a long while, so I don't clearly remember that part. I can guess what it is, though. :-P

message 36: by Meredith (new)

Meredith It makes me livid!!!!!!! That is one of the best parts in the book.

I don't like way too much smooching in the movies, either. It makes me feel weird. :-P

message 38: by Meredith (new)

Meredith Ditto!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Old ones in white covers.... they're thicker.

message 40: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
I haven't read any of the old white ones. I've only read the yellow covered ones and some newer ones. It's pretty cool that you've read the old ones, Emily. :-)

message 41: by Meredith (new)

Meredith I've only read the yellow ones too. But, one time my friend let me borrow a Nancy Drew and it looked different so I checked the copyright. It was 1936!!!! I was very surprised that she let me borrow it. Then again, my family owns a book with 1907 copyright. It's pretty cool. I love the book too. The Range Dwellers it's called. Great Romance!

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I found it at the library.

message 43: by Katie (new)

Katie ive only htem with yellow spine with flashlights and some older ones my mom had. they have a picture (no flashlight) and them the sprine has nancy and it says nancy drew mystery stories, says the number and title. the back has the list of nancy drews, but its not complete since they were still being written. and this is rly cool. in the front and back pgs of he book they have a collection of the story cover pictures in a collage.

message 44: by Meredith (new)

Meredith I have two of that kind.

message 45: by Katie (new)

Katie cool. i have #6, 32 39 and 49.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

0.0 wow....

message 47: by Katie (new)

Katie yeah...theyre a lot different
yesterday i went looking 4 nancy drew books and barbie collectibles at an antique store. i couldnt find the barbie section (theyre always moving stuff) and the only nancy drew books they had were 1-6, and then another copy of 4! they had a lotta hardy boy books.

message 48: by Meredith (new)

Meredith I love Hardy Boys!!!!

message 49: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Hardy Boys seems pretty cool. :-) I haven't read much of them. Maybe I'll read the whole Hardy Boys series after I finish reading all of the Nancy Drew books.
