I had the privilege of talking with William Vollmann on The Dying Grass, shortly after publication. I asked lots of questions from my reading of the book, both about content and his narrative technique. And he very patiently and generously answered. It was broadcast on KBOO Radio in Portland, OR, and is archived on the KBOO website for streaming/downloads. Might be good background for your reading. Thanks for the heads up on the pricing. I've read it on my Fire HD 8 tablet and it read very well, paragraphs formatted correctly, and the pictures at the start of the chapters viewed in HD were great. Had no issues at al.
At $1.99 the ebook is worth it. It looks great on my 12” iPad Pro, and can match the layout of the hardcover, but it looks awkward on the Kindle.
