Thanks, Brenda. And it's encouragement to continue writing. A little stimulus is good for keeping the creative juices flowing. :-)

Not soon! I'm working on a new book with a tangled plot set in Hong Kong and China (like my first novel The Peking Payoff), covering a period from the Japanese invasion in WWII to a few years from now. It will be much shorter than Nanyang but will not be finished for a year or two. I continue to follow with great interest relations between the former British colony, where I lived for 15 years, and China, where political developments have been a fascination for me since my university days. But it will be more a fun read (I hope)- with an evil villain :-)- than a political tome.

It shouldn't take that long. I just like to give myself plenty of leeway, rather than setting deadlines and missing them.

“Thank you Ian for giving me, through the reading of Nanyang, many hours of great pleasure.”
Isn’t that nice. The real reward of writing!
