As I'm moving flat soon have decided to send the majority of my remaining paperbacks and hardbacks to a charity shop today and then will be getting rid of a bookcase as I've been kindle only for a few years. Will give me more room in my study to store other junk.

Tania | 982 comments Your lucky, I'm looking at selling my house and have lived here for 24 years. Did do a major clear out when my partner died but that was 11 years ago.

Jim Vuksic My four adult children own e-Book readers; what kind, I could not tell you. I do not.

Although they now purchase e-Books much more often than traditional print books, my children still buy the occasional print book or, more often than not, stop by my home to peruse my personal library* and borrow a print book, audio book or movie on DVD*.

*You may refer to message 55 for a description of the bookshelves in my den and the sorting method utilized to determine the specific arrangement of the items that rest upon them.

OH MY that is spectacular! That's the kind of collection I dream of :)

Em (emmap) | 2707 comments This is why the Kindle is working so well for me, there is no physical evidence of my book-purchasing compulsion!

Fantastic. I had lots of shelves too but last year I cut down - now I have a few shelves of hardbacks, a couple of shelves of carefully selected paperbacks and a kindle. I made the decision that most of the books I would never read again so out they went to friends, family or charities. I still have some paperbacks to read and I still have to stop myself buying new ones in book stores

I have to admit, a lot of these belong to my husband. I did downsize my collection when I last moved house, but as you can see, it has grown again... I'm a big fan of libraries so nowadays I borrow instead of buying a lot of the time.
